Thats the thing with Leon, he hasn't been a mainline protagonist since re6, hitting almost 14 years now. My boy needs some new light upon him, other than the remakes. Ill also happily take Jill back too
Chris or Jill deserves a proper Resident Evil game , Chris recently has all action , while Jill's Re3 remake is a disappointment . Maybe have both of them have 1 last game together, a throw back to Re1 .
I love Leon, but after the RE4 Remake, I want to see Jill. Home girl has been absent for so long, and It'd be amazing to see her and Chris working together again.
Hot take: it should be Rebecca chambers. She has only been the MC of one game, but is good enough to fight zombies, yet not being on the physical level of Leon or Jill would make for a more terrifying experience
Meh, I'm more excited for the RE5 reboot, whenever that is. A faceless character in a non-canon RE game like "Resident Evil: Operators" would be alright. A game were BSAA operatives are exterminating BOWs, or Umbrella/TriCell operatives are collecting samples for experiments. Also Jake needs his own game, he was cool.
So the "community" can make porn of the characters and sex baits. Sure. In my opinion Ethan is well executed and he is liked because of his story, not sexual appeal.
personally id like to see Claire or possibly Rebecca would be cool, tho rebecca less likely as id probably see her getting out while she could. but still would be dope to see her make a comeback
I think they could do a Village style game, where there are 4 or so "Lands" inside the "World". RE 8's "Village" portion wasnt really open world, but they could make RE 9 that way. Essentially, you have an open world where you search for these lands that are more linear.
Just because there's a new Resident Evil game coming out it doesn't necessarily mean it's RE9. For all we know it could be a remake of RE5, Code Veronica or RE Outbreak.
@connorsimpson503 Yeah... as in a new entry to the already existing games. It's already been known that the remakes are happening so when they refer to a "new" game they are quite clearly hinting at RE9.
@Em13331 I never said it's 100% impossible that it's RE9, it might be. But there's a possibility that it's just another remake of an old RE game, and remakes are also new in a way. But i guess we will find out at some point.
I know it … like cmon video game companies … all they literally need to do is make games like they did from the late 90s early 2000s and ppl would be all over it ! … no one wants this current crap that’s put out lately … for instance … literally remake battlefield 2 1:1 with just new graphics … bam, done … instant hit
I just hope that The Mercenaries is similar to RE4R but much bigger and madder the better, and dlc, new characters etc. But yea hyped for the new game.
I think the next re game could be Chris and Leon trying to figure out what the bsaa is doing since the soldiers they sent were bioweapons or it could be something to do with Mia or Rose
Having Claire back wouldn't be awful. I like all the characters with Leon and Chris at the top. Even Carlos from 2 getting thrown in the mix wouldn't be horrible. All said I'm justvready for some new Res Evil. I'm pumped and have been replaying my faves 2, 3, 4, 7, and Village!!!!!!
sounds like there's no pleasing you fans. you want it to be more scary but also 3rd person at the same time, lol that doesn't really work. you either get one or the other.
I bet we'll be getting an open-world style game where you alternate between characters - Chris, Leon, Jill, maybe some new comers, as they explore different parts of this island. Think how you can toggle between Spider-Men in Spider-Man 2, or how you could switch between Rebecca and Billy to go through different areas in RE0. My guess is the story will center around these characters joining forces to track down The Connections, and figure out why the BSAA is using bio-weapons, and honestly, if this wraps everything up, I'd like the final villain to be digital copy of Wesker, maybe trying to be reborn via the megamycete or something.
The things I really need are: - Leon the star of resident evil ! - 3rd person ! (Or even both first and third will be fine like RDR2) - It's gonna be good if jill appears too !
Take our lead chars (Leon, Jill, Chris, Claire, etc...) and take them to deeper emotional character arcs. As fans, we KNOW they should have even more screen time but, this time around, we need to connect even deeper with them. Less explosions, more emotion.
If i have to pick between Jill and Leon i choose Jill because Leon would only be there because reference Really, it should be Chris and Jill to being the whole series full circle
Open World may work, and theres never been anything wrong with open world, just how much its been fleshed out and atmospheric they are. And Resident Evil works perfectly in both first person and 3rd person, it also refreshes the series, wed get bored constantly playing 3rd person.
Am I the only person who wants the new Ashley back? I'd love Leon and Ashley back as a team. They discuss it in the both versions of RE4. I'd love to see her back.
Very unpopular opinion but 7 & 8 are my favourite, the atmosphere is awesome and 1st person just makes it scarier. 2,3 and 4 are also great but not scary at all.
i thought they would go the route of having rosemary be the main character. tht was what the end of 8 kind of hinted at us getting to play as rosemary.
The ending was expanded in the Village DLC. I don’t think Rosemary would be the protagonist again. Plus she is too overpowered with the powers of the mold and it would be so scary if you are very op

@DeathsjesterKMNP I know that, but the guy is saying he wants to be able to switch between 1st and 3rd person whenever. (Similar to fallout and skyrim.) I was just saying that they don't use that style in RE games.
idk i hope its more like village then 7. To many games are like resident evil 7 like that type of survival horror is done. Re eversense like re2 but even more re3 for the ps1 it has been more action while silent hill was scary. I love the atmosphere of village. It was the perfect middle ground between it all.
yeah, i fell the same way. village was awesome and perfectly balanced everything out. the action, the survival horror aspect, the backtracking map design and some scary moments here and there. I literally can't think of a single flaw with the game, the pacing was good too. The only people who didn't like it are people who don't know what they want. They want traditional 3rd person, but also more scary and less action? literally makes no sense, especially considering all RE games are highly action packed.
I would say, RE4R is a pretty good close middle ground between the Action and Horror. There really wasn't much in RE8 that "scared" me aside from the few jump scares with the stupid dolls, but I felt more like I was playing Underworld Evolution and not an RE game. RE8 loses touch with its base, RE has always been about Bioengineering, and companies doing shady things, and religious cults pretty much doing the same as seen in RE4/RE4R, when the game started getting more "supernatural" I felt like the whole basis for the MOLD got really stretched out and over exaggerated. RE7 was a good attempt, but again I didn't really care for it, played it through like once or twice and haven't touched it since, always opting to just going back and play RE1R instead, and I always go back to RE4 over RE4R or RE8. If RE9 is just going to be a repeat of RE4, RE5, RE4R, and RE8 then I'm not even going to waste my time with it.
I think we need another new character since the Winters saga is over. I dont see it being scary if they use old characters who are already battle hardened with fighting zombies and other bioweapons.
the take that 1st person isnt as scary is the dumbest take i've heard...the classic resident evil games and even silent hill are all in 3rd person and scared the shit out of people so in my opinion i dont understand that take RE has never been about 1st person so i dont want them to keep 1st person..Jill deserves to be the main protagonist. i would like it if there were more then one protags but if theres only one it should be jill. she hasn't been in mainline since 2009 and she constantly gets mishandled, in death's island and in the re3 remake she needs redemption and the right way.
The main protagonists are going to be quite old for combat and im all for it. I want Protagonists to be Leon, Chris, Jill and i want heavily featured BARRY FUCKING BURTON
U made a small mistake. RESIDENT EVIL 7 released in 2017. Anyways I do agree. I think both 3rd person and 1st person should be added. I do agree that 1st person does make everything scarier.
Don't think they'll bring back Jill after the stinking hot garbage that was the re3r.. unfortunately. Also, her reimagined 1 dimensional tough girl character was crap too
