In the game it was great and my jaw was literally on the floor, simply outstanding coreography and direction. The movie fight looked like a Scary Movie parody.
Awesome video Cody. I don't mind this film. Like you said in your first review, all of these are guilty pleasures of mine. I'm a sucker for zombies. Can't go wrong throwing action in there too. So excited to see Welcome to Racoon City, as well as your review for it.✌
I really didn’t think wentworth did Chris justice. Chris is serious, even eyed, stoic, and has military edicate, wentworths Chris felt more like a rogue to me, hunched shoulders, the quiet intense whispering, heeeh yeah, hmmm, the darted eyes through half the movie. I was not impressed whatsoever, I loved Wesker, I thought he had better lines then the cheesy cringy one liners from the protagonists. “I told you I’d be bringing a few friends” (which should’ve been the clones in my mind) Wesker: *slowly smiles with eyes beginning to glow* “you should’ve brought more.” That line to me was the best one liner in the whole movie. “You forgot one thing, I’m not on the menu.” I rolled my eyes, and I was a teenager, in the theatre, both me and my friend groaned when we heard that line. I bought to movie just to add to my collection hoping they got better. I streamed ret, and immediately just gave away my resident evil movie collection. I was done. High hopes for this new one!!!
I quite like this one. It's probably my second favorite in the series. I think the opening scene is really cool. It's got that unsettling stylized horror tone to it similar to the best scenes in the first movie. I also really like that huge executioner monster. The zombies feel threatening once again and there's a horror element here that I didn't get out of the previous two movies (in addition to the usual over the top, dumb action scenes). After nearly writing the series off after my disappointment with Extinction, I thought that maybe Paul Anderson returning to direct (he was less involved with Apocalypse and Extinction) was the reason why this one turned out better than the previous two. I thought he did a really good job with Mortal Kombat, I loved Event Horizon and the first Resident Evil movie was pretty satisfying for me as well. This movie renewed my interest in the this series and (for a couple of years) reaffirmed my belief that these movies would turn out fine as long as Paul Anderson was directing them. That would all change with the next movie though.
Another thing that pissed me off about this movie is again how they make it where Alice has to outshine everyone. Remember the scene where Claire uses Alice's sawed off to put down the Axe Man that doesn't kill him. Then Alice proceeds to shoot with the very same shotgun that does kill him.
Afterlife was the first Resident Evil I saw in theaters and I really liked it! It's debatable if ever Alice clone was at that Umbrella facility but I would imagine budget is why the clones count be used beyond a certain point!
This one was both my first 3d movie and my first Resident Evil movie in theaters...similar story to yours too my cousin and I were playing the hell out of RE5 when this came out so we were PUMPED for this movie and the only letdown at the time was that it felt way too short...again none of these movie are great (except the first arguably) but when I'm marathoning these Afterlife is certainly the most fun of the latter three
“You’ve really become quite an inconvenience for me” Uh Wesker you don’t know either of the 2 characters you are talking to and they haven’t really done much to oppose you it’s not like you have a decade long feud with Chris in the movies like the games. Jesus Christ Paul would it kill you for your movies to make sense. You can’t lift lines from the game and have them make sense without considering the context surrounding it
OMG THANK YOU!!! Also right after that Alice follows up with an dumber reply by saying "I told you I was going to bringing a few friends". Uhhh.... You mean the clones you sent to assassinate Wesker that he eventually blew up in the beginning of the film? Are you really trying to intimidate Wesker by saying two regular cops are more of a threat then your super powered clones? It's so stupid.
@@SuperMurray2009 precisely. CONTEXT IS KING. Not understanding context is what gives us shitty adaptations like these 6 “movies” Also they might have been more threatening if Chris was as bulky as he is in re5 but wentworth looks more like Jake muller than re5 Chris
6:55 For some reason in the films Las Plagas is a mutation of the T-Virus rather than an ancient parasite completely unconnected to any of Umbrella's viruses. They never used the Progenitor, G, T-Veronica, Uroboros, T-Abyss and Phobos from the 2 Revelations games or 6's C-Virus either. And obviously the film series ended before the Mould was introduced into the games in 7.
I really liked the soundtrack, I remember seeing this movie a couple of times in theaters and not really because of the film itself, I just really liked the action scenes but looking back at it now, it’s definitely nothing that special lol. Decent action flick. Huge resident evil fan and can’t wait for this new one.
The giant sack wearing axe man and the coin loaded shotgun, I actually liked this one probably the best since the original. There even seemed to be some at least attempt at character development.
This movie really did the Wesker fight from RE 5 but worse. So much worse. Shot for literal shot. The most iconic characters that this franchise is known for ALL take a backseat compared to Alice. If you're going to include characters people love and have known for years, don't put them on the back burner for someone who is the equivalent of an Overpowered OC.
Good review. I honestly like this movie, it's not good but I have fun with it. I like the action, especially the stuff with the Ax Man, he looked really cool. I also liked Shawn Roberts as Wesker, he had the feel of him down. I'm the opposite of you on Chris, I didn't think Wentworth Miller was good as him. I hate that they did nothing between him and Claire, I know she lost her memory, but give me something! I really love the soundtrack. I agree that there is too much slow mo, it got really annoying. RE5 is one of my favorite RE games, so I enjoyed the fight with Wesker, but understand why others don't. Can't wait to see your thoughts on the next one.
I saw this in the cinema and was dreadful then and even worse trying watch it now. A ship in a ocean? Didn't they say in the last movie that all life and water was wiped out by the t-virus? Lol.
9:26-10:30 This interesting plot point makes me want to analyze the fight scenes involving Alice from afterlife and retribution. Not Re, She wasn't injected with the T-Virus. Or you guys can save me the trouble by describing it to me. Either way works
For me it was mostly the impressive action sequences that this 4th one had going itself and i had fun with it , this was probably the only RE movie i watched in 3D at IMAX , so its obvious the movie is more focused on action than the compelling story plot , overall the 2nd movie and this one were my favorite ones out of all the other movies despite that these movies moved away from any references of the games are like after part 2
They can’t win. If they focus on the video games characters and stories, they’re “doing the same thing”. And if they do their own thing, you want more legacy characters and shit
One thing I never noticed watching this movie so many times until like earlier this year is that at the end when Wesker's helicopter thing blows up you can see a parachute landing into the water from the far away shot lol
The slowmo was done to get hopefully more enjoyment from the 3D. Because fast pace shaky cam editing is hell for 3D. Of course when you watch it in 2D now the slow motion shots can get repetitive and too much. And saying they used the AVATAR cameras meant simply the movie was shot in 3D while filming not converted later. It was the better (looking) way to do it. But 3D Conversions of movies gotten better over time.
The only thing I enjoy about this movie is the score and I’m surprised you didn’t bring that up cause it’s probably the best piece of music they came up with. But still great review as always man
I like Wentworth Miller as well, but he did NOT fit the character. Add to that the incessant drawn out shots (slow motion) to force the 3D aspect, & lazy writing... ugh. This is my least favorite film in the series.
I know nothing of the video game, for me there is just the movies. I own them all on dvd, and some are better than others, but I enjoy them all. They take you on a ride, what more can you ask.
3:24 The Alice clones ended up being pointless though since they set up Alice raiding Umbrella HQ with them only for them all to die at the start of this.
RE 5 is one of my guilty pleasures i love that game lol and when this movie came out i loved it and still do!!!! it is probably my favorite RE movie currently but i can see the problems in it but it’s still a good time!!!
Milla Is A great For Resident Evil Because She Is My Also Another Idol As Me Jade Daizl But With All Of These Movies Is Not Good But Most Is Resident Evil The Final Chapter Because It Is Out Of Inspiration Because Paul Is A Guilty In Somes Of Movie
My boy skully ( Michael scholfield/wentworth miller ) fit the role well ... overall movie was a pretty entertaining watch but not something to keep coming back to considering there’s more entertaining ones n the story is non existence imo
I love this series. The only thing I didn’t like in these movies…the impossible things Alice does. The flipping in the air. The defying of gravity. Other than that, great movie.
This one is honestly probably the one I enjoyed the most, not saying much but hey, don't exactly hate it too much. Still not seeing the new one cause of Leon but, they'll get it right one day 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I actually love this series. It’s not good and it’s not the games it’s based on but I have fun with them. These were also the first non kids “horror” movies that my son started watching with me along with Alien and Predator so I have that family nostalgia with them. I am looking forward to the new movies and then hopefully being more horror than action and B movie.
I have the resident evil series. I think ive been working on finishing it for some 2 years now. I was going good until i got to this one n felt like i was watching a movie for 3 hrs. Its bored me even with all the mindless action. I waited about a year before i watched the 5th one because of it and that one did not light the fire for me to want to finish the series. O and ive never played the games so my thoughts are only in the movies
Stay tuned for the movie Our Lady of Heaven, the first international film about Lady Fatima al-Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. Screening date: December 10. The box office has opened for reservations. Do not miss the opportunity to watch in American cinemas.
