Mike and Zach could literally talk about anything and I’d listen. Coherence and staying on subject be dammed, they’re just so interesting. I can even watch them play a bad mod
More than likely. The first 2 to test the water do well, and this (talking about random crap with your friends) is already something Mike and Zach do daily, plus it’s easier to edit (no fancy video editing, no subtitles, etc) 3 birds with 1 stone. Why not?
I remember when I started watching you guys back when I was in high school 2017. You guys have stayed being entertaining, I love you guys and I’m glad to watch the channel grow!!
Actually Sony at the time had the contact for number release titles,That's why Resident Evil Nemesis became 3 and 3 became code Veronica due to it releasing on the dream cast
Speaking of guns and RE, one of the greatest mysteries to me since I was a kid was the gun wielded by the pilot guy in the cover art of Resident Evil 1.
@@rob98000 isn't that the FN Minimi? The gun in the cover art looks like a blend of an AR collapsable stock, grip and jam enhancer combined with a pump action shotgun at the end
I think I've been around since like halfway through "Fallout Multiplayer" and I'm glad I've stuck around. You guys could talk about anything or play anything and still make it interesting.
The best way I've seen classic resident evil described is as a math problem. You're balancing inventory, enemies, ammo, health, and the unknown. You take all those into consideration to get to the next area. Do you load up to kill all enemies and save health and clear the area, but don't have extra space to grab new items. Or do you travel light avoiding enemies but risk losing health.
I started from RE5 and earned most of the achievements, complete the Professional difficulty, and played the hell out of Mercenaries. I didn't have that many games, so I squeezed the content out of 5. I had pleasant memories of 5.
I remember watching a playthrough of 5 years ago and the whole thing at first reminded me of Spec Ops: The Line as well as the first Michael Bay Transformers movie.
I thought that Luis Sera was a huge missed opportunity to not be a mercenaries mode or side campaign character like Ada's mode. I assumed there would be Luis content since he had a task to get the viral sample. I thought he was too cool to not remain only an NPC.
The boutique key was from RE3 by unlocking it from beating the game in certain ways. In RE2 you had run through the city in the beginning without picking anything up to allow Brad to show up under the stairs who would drop the "special key"
I'm just going to throw this out there, the first two RE movies are passable. The second one gets bonus points for Zach Ward (Dave from Titus/the bully from A Christmas Story) being in it.
I do like one bit of lore consistency: in RE1, Chris doesn't know how to mix chemicals, and needs another character to make an herbicide for him. In RE7, the Dlc where you get to play as Chris, he still doesn't know how to mix chemicals, or in this case, chem fluid
0:38 - Basically what we're saying here is that somewhere in the road was a wet patch that caused Resident Evil to hydroplane like mad leading to massive understeer and oversteer
I played RE4 in 2011 on the GameCube. I didn't have Xbox Live and couldn't play the 360 port. BUT! It was a fun game as I worked hard to earn everything. That is when HUNK became my favorite RE character. I didn't know who or what he was, but his riot kick and neckbreaker was so much fun. I had an MP3 player that could record noise, so I would play the mercs mode and attempt to record the music for like 5 mins a pop. So when I was walking around in High School listening to RE4 music. Man, I loved the mystery of HUNK. I have a fondness for mysterious characters.
I loved resident evil 4, I found the game crazy easy once I started making sure I had an RPG for every boss battle. Most die from one RPG shot except for the Newt and the Thing bosses, think my favorite part was the part where you're with Luis or whatever his name was and you had to defend yourself in the cabin, flashbangs were helpful in that part. Also, one of the best costume choices was the one where Leon is dressed up like a gangster and Ashley is in a suit of armor, makes the game soo much better not having to worry about her.
re2 on n64 had alternate outfits unlocked after beating each scenario. re3 on ps2 had extra outfits ( dino crisis) but i dont recall how they were unlocked
you had to beat the game within a certain time limit and in new game at the police station outside yard a zombie Brad Vickers will have a key that goes to a room you can't get into normally and it will have a locker that will contain unlockable stuff. One of those older sorta things you'd need a guide to tell you back in the day.
So I was born in '03 and my dad introduced me to the RE series with re2 when I was like 5 or 6 and I fell in love with the series even though it scared the absolute piss out of me until I was like 13
This is great timing I just watched all your resident evil videos. Also you guys playing resident evil was quite fun. The problem solving together was solid.
I tried playing the res games many times and just can't, but I absolutely love watching you guys play them, it's a good way to live vicariously as I would never experience them otherwise.
I realize I've kind of missed the party, but there's a few videos that go into the technical details of what they had to do in order to fit Resident Evil 2 onto an N64 cartridge, and it's *fascinating*. They basically had to invent entirely new types of compression to do it. It's absolutely a rabbit hole worth going down.
You guys are probably the reason I got into RE. No joke, watched your guy's RE7 playthrough and was thoroughly engrossed. Had to get the game myself and it wasn't long after that I was excited for Village and now it's one of my all time favorites. Enjoyed it so much went to a game shop and bought 5 and the Remake. SO MUCH FUN!
Honestly I think RE4 is simultaneously the best game in the franchise and that Capcom took all of the wrong lessons from it. They seemed to think that "action, action and MOAR ACTION" was what people wanted when clever design and engaging gameplay was what people were attracted to.
That game is sorta the most unbelievable happy accident in gaming history. And you're absolutely dead on, capcom had no idea what made that game good and they still don't, which makes me despair when I think about them remaking it.
My first RE game was 4 back on the PS2 (or was it 3?) And I loved it. Recently did a playground of RE 1 on PS4 and it was awesome. I genuinely loved the item juggling and limited saves, making it far more tense than if it didn't have it.
Being someone that hasn't played a single Resident Evil, it's very interesting listening to you guys talking about the whole series thus far like that. And makes me appreciate what an odd series of games it is. I usually give up on a game series before the forth sequel, but look at you guys go.
Resident Evil 2 for the N64 had a bunch of extras, too. There were a bunch of files from 1 and 3 and you could do things like change the color of zombie blood. Also, in Code Veronica, Leon is the one who directs Chris to the island after Claire sends him an email. He never shows up on screen, though.
First RE game I played was RE4 on the gamecube (a friend I had back then was really into the series), I later played it on my own PS2 with the P.R.L. 412 laser cannon. I also played 5, 6, 7 and 8 but the oldest I played was Code Veronica and that was the only one I haven't beaten. I love the games but don't have much free time anymore so haven't played them heavily for a bit. Love you guys and your banter.
Btw in the Resident evil 1 2002 remaster, there are 2 control schemes, so you don't actually need to play tank controls. There is an option for a slightly more modern control scheme.
I've never considered 6 to be a bad game it's more along the lines of it's a very bad Resident Evil game. 6 has the most fluent gameplay out of all the games. If you have a friend that can play it with you its a blast and you can laugh at how stupid it would get but I mean any game is better with friends. An okayish upgrade system but I can definitely understand that people consider 6 to be the worst because I agree with them I play Resident Evil to be scared and 6 is not scary.
I would also say that co-op makes all of the weird/bad story and gameplay choices really entertaining. Because you go from (solo by yourself) trying to have enjoyment despite all of the design choices, to getting enjoyment because of those choices.
@denisonsmock5456 I cannot tell you how many times I accidentally messed up a quick time Event. Me and my friends almost died because we couldn't breathe laughing so hard.
I had a few jumps from enemies, as for gameplay, that depends on the 4 campaign, Leon's is the better campaign compare to the others, because it has just zombies and all of the re things I like.
shooting while aiming was featured in resident evil outbreak file 2 in 2004, it was a pretty good game. The outbreak games had pretty novel ideas such as having 8 different characters each with their own attributes such as being able to heal others, carry more stuff, have a special lockpick to open any doors or have a special handgun and do more damage and the games had different levels set within the city (such as in a hotel on fire, the hospital, an umbrella lab or even the RPD itself) that took a while to complete. Also you were infected and gave you an incentive to complete the level and look for antivirus pills to delay the infection otherwise you'd become a zombie and your online friends would have to kill you
31:05 I used to work with a chick who, I swear to God, looked exactly - EXACTLY - like Sheva. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who's a big RE fan and his immediate response was "So, you gonna ask her out?" (I did not ask her out.)
FUN FACT! Resident Evil 4 segment, 1:01:44 I gotta say. Been playing the VR remake, I find SO MANY FLASHBANGS. Now ive already beaten the game twice, I have the infinite rocket launcher, a fully upgraded Red-9, and a TON of 9mm ammo. New Game++ here. I find so many flashbangs that I *NEVER USE* that I just throw them down immediately to see the pretty white light akin to heaven.
I have this weird little nugget of warm nostalgia for Code Veronica. It was my first entry to the series, and was one of the first games I got for the Dreamcast. Not the first - that was Blue Stinger. And Blue Stinger was atrocious.
I know this is an older video but, I just wanted to say that Mike talking about Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal Really takes me back. I really miss old games like this they just don't make them like the PS2 era. The PS3 and Xbox 360 were pretty good too. I just wish they could go back to this.
Resident evil 3 will always remain my favorite from the sheer dread of being chased the entire game by nemesis. I was so scared of that as a kid. I also love RE 8 a lot as well i think its one of the best ones in the series. I can understand Mike not liking it though, as it isn't a corny japanese horror game like the past games, but i don't know why it made him so angry talking about it considering all he did was watch Zach play instead.
This comment is extremely late but the P.T. demo absolutely had an impact on RE7. P.T. was received so well I'm convinced it influenced the decision to make RE7 first person, but the influence that is really present is RE7's demo. It was a shadow drop, it had obscure mechanics, and it was very dreamy, just like P.T. You had to change things in the past by watching a VHS tape in order to progress in the future! Time travel has never been a thing in RE, and that kind of mechanic definitely fits better in a Silent Hill game.
i like the swap feature of RE: Revelations 2 which RE5 and RE6 did something similar to it rather than having to go back through the game again from the other person POV
As someone who recently played thru RE Remake on my Xbox One with a busted controller where the left stick would Drift up and down... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
I know yall don't like re 6, but Ada's campaign has a second player character that was added. It's a random soldier npc model but a second player can play that campaign.
Downside only Ada can open the doors so the 2nd player waits at the plot relevant door especially in chapter 1 for the submarine waiting for Ada to progress and open that door
On ps1 models, there was one bizarre exception that blows my mind every time I played it. Look up the first few minutes of Vagrant Story, they actually had not only modeled fingers, but facial animations matched to dialogue, despite having no voice acting. Plus a tone that was Souls before Souls, and a combat system that was stupidly complex to account for literally playing legos with your weapons. Like…”I wonder what would happen if I took apart this dagger and jammed it onto a spear, or maybe I can take apart these three crossbows and make one that’s super racist against lizard people, and name it Iguana Sticker or something “. That game is such a trip, with way better cinematography than makes any sense. Plus the main character is basically permanently shirtless medieval agent 47 with a weird hairdo, and it somehow just works.
RE9 idea Zombies, set in Mexico (or South America in general, if that's too specific) following Sherry and HUNK taking direction from Jill as they dismantle [insert bio-terrorism organization here] using a now defunct Umbrella lab hidden in the forests. Upon completion of the main campaign, it unlocks a mini-campaign following Leon and Ada as they play cat and mouse in Russia/Mongolia/China, and maybe they can FINALLY resolve this sexual tension between them.
i vote yes YES to watching you two take turns playing resident evil code veronica or just mike play & zach trash talk lol oh heck just put the ones you haven't played on a randomizer and play the one that it picks :@) this has been a very neat dissertation
1:06:20 The turret sections were fun distractions...until you’re on your Professional play through and you’ve got fully upgraded guns with infinite ammo that do MORE damage than the turrets so the boss fight against the big guy which should be a cake walk with your max damage magnum revolver becomes a chore because you’re stuck in a turret.
I enjoyed The light gun. felt a lot more intuitive then you would think. It was pretty fun gameplay in that you could actually sort of move around like a first-person shooter. I had access to the light gun because of the time Crisis 4 set which included it. Even though they didn't include the gun with Resident Evil Survivor they still kept the control scheme in there so I was still able to use it. Then again it was also a Canadian version of the game
Me and a buddy from high school bounced between each other's consoles (mine was Ps2, his was Gamecube) to help each other get the hand cannon for Resident Evil 4. We finaly got the hand cannons for both consoles after much yelling and cheering and looking up guides on gamefaqs. Good times. P.s. Chaining neck snaps with Hunk against a mob of Ganado's with chainsaw sisters was so damn satisfying. Hunk dominated the Village stage.
The only Resident Evil game I fully remember is Resident Evil 2. Part of that was because it was one of the few games I owned and it was pretty much the only game that my cousin and I could agree to play (we just took turns after a certain amount of time). I've played bits and pieces of the other Resident Evil games at a friend's house or that was rented for me, but none of those stories / memories really stuck the way RE2 did.
Revelations 2 was actually very good. It's explained in the free dlc of RE7 that blue umbrella is basically an anti-umbrella organization that essentially hired Chris to help them.
Two of my favorite guys talking about one of my favorite series? Count me in. Resident Evil 2 was my first in the series as well. Sadly, I only had the Leon disc, so I didn't get to experience any B scenarios until much, much later. Lastly, yes the PS2 had online multiplayer. But there was only one game that made it worthwhile: SOCOM 2.
You can do a type of Flip shop with the 45 angle, you can fire the gun between the angle. I called it a flicking shot. It's useful for certain uses and more notable on RE3 It's cause you can fire while it goes up and down. So it is tricky.
Funfact Resident Evil 4's prototype was later made into Devil May Cry. Hence Leon and Dante looking somewhat similar. A lot of the content from the earlier version of re4 can be found in the first devil may cry.
