Dolan Pls No man im here with you all the way the weird thing is sometimes out of all the games I can play on my Xbox I want to play Resident Evil operation Raccoon City it's weird because I have a bunch of good games like Saints Row Call of Duty Tenchu Etc but just some days I get home and it look and I go you know I'll play some operation Raccoon City
While the game was buggy and the friendly AI not too great, I think this game was far from terrible. This review often mentions "lack of atmosphere" and "characters with no personality" but I heavily disagree. It wasn't going to win game of the year on any list in 2012, but its far from the mess described in this review.
Agreed it felt like you were in those CGI cuts from the early games, but you felt like your character was always late to party wondering what it would have been like to be there during the initial chaos. I loved this game.. You get that with this game..
After years of sleeping on this game I decided to finally play it and with all the DLC content already available and a summer Steam Sale of 5 bucks I have to say it was worth every penny. I really enjoyed this game. So I disagree with IGN yet again.
I don't know about anybody here but as a Resident Evil fan since RE1 (1996) I actually like the game. Brings a new experience to the RE franchise. And I thought the mechanics wasn't that bad. Also this game has a lot of action and your CPU partners in single player are very helpful. I still enjoy this game at this moment.
This game isn't as bad as people say it is. My friends and I enjoy it and have been playing it none stop! I didn't want to buy it due to all the negative feedback, but playing it at my friends house changed my mind. Campaign on the highest difficulty makes the game so much better and obligates you to use strategy. I do hope RE6 returns to survival horror.
casey tyler Yeah, the multiplayer was actually a lot of fun and had a huge amount of depth to the game. Of course everyone played the story, saw how awkward it was (Even though I enjoyed it while encountering bugs), then proceeded to skip the multiplayer when that might have actually redeemed it for people. The Heroes mode was a ton of fun and required a LOT of teamwork to win, not to mention the blood frenzy mechanic was a lot of fun to death sentence people. Also having the Nemesis in a multiplayer gamemode was a ton of fun, but like I said, they play the story. Don't like it. Leave. Shows how close-minded people can be about video games now-a-days but that's not an understatement, I know. (All opinions about people hating the game *Regarded* btw, just trying to shed some good on the bad) Edit: I also don't get why this game got a "bad locations" rating... It's Raccoon City... It's been done many times before so of course it gets old but you can't take away from the game being based on Raccoon City from a different point of view.
Nepgear if it wasnt for how bad the AI teammates where in story mode the game might have been good... but it seems thats 1 of many things Capcom fails at, AI. RE5s AI teammate was a complete moron, and i constantly had to mash the "follow me" "over here" button every 5 seconds just to keep her next to me and not dead. their other big mistake was moving Monster Hunter away from its home console that made that franchise so big here in the US, the PSP, but instead really dumbed their most challanging game down for a younger audiance on a console that will never be up to par with XB1 or PS4 shit even PSvita looks better than the WiiU.
Umbra Deus I agree with you 100%, now games like Freedom Wars or Tokiden Kiwami takes Monster Hunter's place. Even though those games might not get a sequel now that the Vita is legacy and Sony dropped their baby out a window after neglecting it.
They forgot to point that the AI is drawn to flame like a moth, jesus christ, my "partners" died more times than I could count, this is game is pure bullshit.

The advertisers of this game lied to us. I read and heard that in the game you play one of umbrellas crew sent out to cover up the outbreak in Raccoon city. One of the mission briefings even said you were suppossed to kill survivors police and military you don't kill a single survivor or cop through out the game until the end of the last "Battle" It was even advertised that you could change the Resident Evil Timeline by choosing weather or not to kill Resident Evil characters, again you can only kill one at the end. I thought you got to be part of a cover up killing witnesses and blocking off city exits. I thought you would be free roaming the streets but you barley even get to go outside, you just follow a straight path the whole time. Why don't they ever make games where your the bad guy no sugar coding the game plot is evil?!
not going to lie...I kinda disagree with the review . The game gave a unique look on the series , the fact is was unlike the previous games was a good thing really so it didn't feel repetitive . each character has his or her unique features which the review failed to mention and it was all-round a good , underrated game

30 zombies that are RUNNING at you fast with only 100 bullets because you fly through them and it takes quite abit of bullets to kill them . the zombies on this game run fast, not walk like the other ones

A franchise bastardization...I think those are mighty, yet accurate words. I honestly enjoyed every other Resident Evil campaign more than this, including Dead Aim, and even Outbreak. It's a shame too, because RE2 is my all-time favorite. After many *invisible walls*(seriously?), endless battles with seemingly infinite, unflinching and pseudo-invincible SPEC-OP's, a shortage of checkpoints complete with numerous "un-fair" deaths because of a lack of clear objectives, tutorials, and actual story, *the campaign feels questionable, beyond broken, and simply untested.* The addition of random and bland spin-off characters that we'll never care about, or want to see or hear from again is not new to the series (Dead Aim), but this time they wear funny versions of swat outfits, never remove their masks, never open-up or grow as characters, are instantly revived if they get blown in half, run into fire/wall-mines, and all sound similar, if not the same. Just like the broken quick-dodge/trying-to-get-off-the-ground move that fails to ever work (RE3), the longest loading screens between rooms in RE history that don't even show doors opening (Outbreak,) and of course the most dangerous, difficult-to-use & smallest inventory in a video game (also Outbreak), Operation Raccoon City screws up something that wasn't necessary or already worked before. Previously, you pick up ammo and guns separately, but now the only ammo sources are in these often scarce ammo boxes, or if your extremely lucky, finding an *exact* duplicate of the equipped gun. That's right: even though you have an Juggernaut Shotgun, and there is Pump-Action Shotgun lying on the ground, you cannot use it's ammo. This wouldn't be a problem if you could hold enough ammo or multiple weapons, but unfortunately, you can only carry 1 gun and your weaker pistol. 150 machine gun bullets plus a handgun's 120 bullets may seem like enough, but because SPEC-OP soldiers each take 25 of those bullets before they go down, and often travel in swarms, you'll be backtracking for ammo a good majority of the game, especially if you want to use the only other type of weapon in the game: the uncommon Shotgun, that commonly only holds 24 shells. Similarly, you can only carry 1 First Aid Spray, and *ZERO* herbs. The game seems to change it's rules often too, like how the battle with Birkin spawns those ridiculous invisible walls, and the final boss(a human) does 10x normal machine gun damage with his basic pistol,(one series of his gun shots drain 3/4 of your health-meter) he has 300x the health of those already over-buffed SPEC-OP soldiers, and he even knocks you down with those same pistol bullets, (no other gun does that,) and *somehow divides your team against you, unexplained and off-screen,* as well as teleports with them to the other side of the building off-screen, even though in the previous cutscene the team had him at gunpoint while he was in a critical condition spitting out blood! *No Split-screen exists in this game*(what???) and unless you play online with others (which I couldn't because nobody seemed to play campaign anymore, even though it's still relatively new,) all 3 of your buddy AI computers cannot seem to kill a single enemy, and only serve as bait against the swarms of enemies from ganging up on you, until you have to revive them. With a couple of exceptions, these enemies are always swarms of either *ONLY zombies or ONLY soldiers;* you fight a bunch of Lickers at one point, only about *5 hunters,* and only *2-3 random Cereberus* in the game. *There are no Spiders, Snakes, Crows, Plants, Alligators* or anything other than the *very brief* appearances of Hunk, William Birkin(first form), T-103's, Nemesis, Ada, and Leon (Claire exists only in a cut-scene for 1.5 seconds). The online mode is this game's finest point, even though it too is very broken and unbalanced. Most people are level 98, and can kill newcomers instantly, while newcomers would have to get lucky to score a few kills (attack them from behind, or when they're in a critical state.) Additionally, getting touched by the knife combo is almost always an instant kill, so unsurprisingly, most players run around spamming their knife, especially on the only unique mode: Heroes, where, until you die once, you can play as (gasp) a main character! Aside from the knife, and Heroes all having 5x the health compared to everyone else and knife-death immunity, the main reason why newcomers would be at a serious disadvantage, is because there are abilities that strongly affect the players, but because the game doesn't explain how to acquire them, or how to perform the knife combo, or mention that you open those weapon cases by shooting the locks, or mention how to unlock (purchase) weapons either. I beat the game without knowing any of that stuff even existed, until I got my ass handed to me on multiplayer or until I watched videos online. In addition to the Heroes, there are SPEC-OP soldiers, who are nowhere to be found in single player, and whose appearances are more unique than their counterparts: the main cast of the game, the generic secret Umbrella Agents. *Enough ranting around; if one can adjust to the insane online difficulty, somehow avoid those knife-maniacs, master those abilities/weapons, and memorize the maps, the online works fantastic, and is quite fun,* considering the dumb AI is not present. Team Deathmatch and Biohazard (capture the flagged G-Virus) are quite bland, but Survival (first one to the copter,) and especially Heroes (first team to KO the other teams 4 heroes once each) are more enjoyable. In Heroes, all of the main characters of RE2 and 3 are playable, including those not present for the campaign, like Jill, Carlos, and even Hunk's Pilot (*but sadly no Brad, or any bosses,* not to mention in any multiplayer mode, no split screen or AI bots exist, aside from zombies, and the occasional hunter / licker.) I'm not going to lie, even though I can find myself enjoying it, I find myself enjoying RE4, RE5, and RE6's mercernaries modes a bit more. Speaking of Resident Evil 6, I found it to be a *much* better game, even though some QTE cutscenes are unforgiving, and Chris/Ada's campaigns felt slightly repetitive compared to earlier Resident Evil games, like 4 and 5.

This game is a clear representation of Crapcom's arrogance. They do not care about the consumer, so they milk franchise names with little improvisation or concern for creativity or innovation (SF4/RE). Stop buying from them until another company buys them out and gets them back to producing quality content. Same goes for EA and Activision. Stop preordering games.
Operation raccoon city fucking sucked sooo bad. The storyline is horrible and your partners don't do anything too help and all they do is get in your way most of the time

The fans have spoken, this game isn't actually all that bad. It isn't perfect, and some parts are downright stupid, but I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game.
Faceless USS members without personality or backstory... Well if you are just slightly into Resident Evil, then that's exactly the type of characters you expect and want for a RE centered around Umbrella and their Security Service. Way more authentic than deep conversations and emotional backstories...
im not really a big gamer but i bought this game brand new for 15$ the other day and im really enjoying it... i wanted a game to shoot zombies and thats what i got. But my one complaint is that its really short...so its more of a rental...but for 15$ im not complaining.
underrated game, people went a little overboard on this game. idk y anyone expected a game called resident evil "operation" raccoon city to be just like the old resident evil games. its a spin-off game and everyone still expected it to connect to the story. the only problem i have with the game is online. idk if its a level difference but in versus mode it takes my whole clip of ammo to shoot one person when it takes 10 bullets to take me down.
Okay, Resident evil- Not much ammo, zombies, dark corridors, survival. Resi 4- Plenty of ammo, no zombies, outside, shooting stuff. It couldnt be less Resident evil if it tried.

There's a reason guys like Angry Joe are well liked and not IGN. They may ham it up, but at least they show some degree of passion, passion that IGN's people sorely lack.

The woman reviewing this game is being waaaaaay to harsh. She didn't have one nice thing to say about this game. It was NOT that bad. Multiplayer was fun as hell. I ended up getting all of the achievements in this game, and I had a great time doing it. It was really challenging though. I'd give it at least a 6.

It's NOT an official RE game you fools, if you payed any attention it's more of a ''what if'' story. Not canon, not part of the series, not ''ruining Resident evil''. It's just got the same title and Capcom simply gave em permission to use the characters. The movies on the other hand speak for themselves. I liked the first 2, then hollywood did what it does best... But thats no reason to accuse the movies for the ORC game.

Yeah, I know not many people enjoy the game, but it provides a solid challenge, after all the patches of course. It's got potential as a great 3rd person zombie, co-op shooter. Regardless of what anyone else says, I know ORC will still be played after the next 5 years. I have friends who still play it to this day. The multiplayer isn't exactly dead either. Such a late reply, but since, i've recently started playing the game again I figured it would only be relevant to reply.
Bought this game for $1.50 cents at a gaming convention. And inside the case was a letter that said, "You might want your money back, But to bad I don't give refunds!"
Played it 8 times on PS3. Still by far a well presented and well-done spin-off RE game at the time. Of course, some annoying and bad stuff in the game like you been beaten down by a hunter or any boss, you are stucked with a certain animation that lets you get attacked so easily repeatedly. Comparing to other TPS games like Uncharted, instead where the bullets glitches out of any walls in the game, RE ORC has some bit of realism when you shoot guns.
I know there are people that love this game. But without actual Co-op, this game is absolutely terrible. You can have fond memories of playing this online or couch with friends but admittedly this game seriously is garbage. Defend it as you may, but if you ever want something like this to come back, just play this game in your happy place and leave the rest of the gaming world alone
Just because it has a Resident Evil name doesn't mean you should judge it as if it had to be like the series! Just appreciate it for what it is, not for what it should be.
Void Riften The concept is cool, but the core gameplay of the game (not judging it as a RE game) is really awful. Everything felt so clunky and cheesy.
basing it off of its genre (3rd person shooter) it sucked. the AI was horrid. the unskippable cutscenes was a poor dicision as well. now basing this off of its game type (zombie hordes) it again sucked, the zombie AI was bad and seemed like the only programming the devs did for their AI was "Attack player" as i played through this heep of shit game the zombies rarely attacked my artificially idiotic teammates and always rushed me, not even cloak on Vector would help as they appearently still saw me. now judging it based off of the RE name, its bad but not as bad as RE5 even though they both had horrid AI, RE5s was the worse of the two... but that could also be bacause when that dumbass would die it was game over, at least in RE: ORC you could revive the dumbasses, unfortunatly that didnt work both ways, you die its game over.
Ign has not made an accurate review the game is not that bad its more of an action game than the original RE recipe which is horror/survival this game should be action cause you are playing as the clean up crew pretty much just killing everything
The name of an operation is meant to disguise what the actual operation is, by sounding completely irrelevent. Operation "Raccoon City" grasps this concept reeeeeaaaaally well... :P
I don't mind that it's an action game instead of a survival horror, because it's just a little side game. It's just a bad game in general. However the graphics are pretty cool.
I have all the re games and this game was fun as hell. I enjoyed it , I love the mystery of the characters and how umbrella hired them. This game us fun and it put a great "what if" story to it.
Hey people stop disliking this video... I can understand that the reviewer has given a very high score and the real score would be -1 but that is not possible so be satisfied with 4 only....
You obviously haven't played Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, and Code: Veronica. You were easily one of those people who said "you have to press up to move?" *rage quits game*
I remember being so excited when I heard this game was coming out back in 2012. I loved everything Resident Evil: the good, the bad, and the ugly of the whole series. But then the reviews were overwhelmingly negative, so I decided to put it off. Four years and many, many games later, I just happened to see a copy for under $10 at a local store and decided to give it a chance to prove all those critics wrong. An hour after I fired it up, however, I understood why this game got the hate it did. It's terrible. I'm probably still going to force myself to play through it just because I enjoy the series so much, but this review hits it right on the head: amazing concept, boring atmosphere, atrocious gameplay and AI, and honestly just a big disappointment. Maybe someday we'll get another good RE game that isn't a remake no one asked for or another letdown.

I hated the fact that if somebody started knifeing you, you were basically fucked. There was almost no way to get away unless a team member came or a group of zombies started attacking him. So you started to pray for for enimies to probablly attck the other guy and not you. Theres the shitty AI for ya.
