Ethan didn't even saw the real Mia this whole game...just Miranda mimicking her. He died without ever seeing Mia and that is just sad and fucked up. 😩😩😩
He did see her, they really had the baby. Miranda found out and snatched Mia up and locked her away. Technically Mia has a baby with a dead guy. Crazy when you think about it.
Mia didn't deserve a happy ending anyway. They try and retcon her actions with a file in this game that mentions her involvement in creating Eveline wasn't her choice, but I still hold firm that Mia is a dangerous liability.
For some reason I always assumed Ethan himself had become a bio weapon since the first game in this new story with him, being able to re attach limbs and patch himself up and push on through immense physical damage was really telling.
oh he def is a bioweapon. PPL speculated that back then in RE 7, but just said gameplay/cinematics. Basically suspension of disbelief, but there were a lot of signs back then to. The whole time we are thinking its mind games and psychological attacks, when we see those injuries and horrorfic things happen to Ethan. It could be both, real and mind tricks to think its not real.
I also liked how even back in RE 7 some inhuman stuff happened to him, literally having his arm torn off then reattached again. The little details are the best part.
So that's sums up Ethan demigod that can withstand impossible physical and mental injuries. Ethan actually built to fight Jack and village weirdos not knowing he's not just being a husband and a Father.
What's odd is Mia's stance on all of this, "don't care that you're entirely a fungus boo, let's make a half fungus half human baby", now that's true love...
They did tell us right in front of the players, Ethan was in the hive mind, jack spoke to him. Can't recall what he said , but something along the lines of telling of how eveline went about infecting the family.

When using photo mode on the last seconds of the post-credit ending, the figure that is walking along the road in the distance has a slightly more decayed version of ethan's fingerless hand.
When the guy in the last cutscene tells the older Rose that she's a lot like him, meaning her father Ethan, she says "I know" She knows this because she has access to Ethan's consciousness through the Mutamycete network, that Miranda mentions as she kills Ethan.

This guy doesn't mention a lot of stuff, but what actually happened is she turned the baby into a crystal (cross shaped) and then separated the crystal into 4 parts (head, torso, arms, legs) and put them each in a flask of the four lords.
Some enemies attack caught my attention, if they grab you they cut your shoulder with swords or drill you chest with a drill replacing a hand. But it makes sense of he is moldy boy

Well technically he might not be dead, his character model is seen walking up to the car at the end of the game to meet his daughter rose. So who knows? They might play it like the mold save him or something of the sort lol
Now it makes sense why Ethan didn't have to cure himself near the end of Resident Evil 7. He wasn't just infected with the mold like Mia was, he was mold.
I think next game we’re either playing as chris or rose because near the end it said “now the farther story is done” or something like that giving us a hint that it’s either the daughter mia or someone else or either im looking into this too much and we’re going to be playing as chris
If RE 9 protagonist is Rose, the time skip will be a lot. I guess they will use another new protagonist for a new plot or use one of the old cast for RE 9. Then that plot will be tied up to Rose's plot in later Resident evil games.
@@vonxoliver I would surmise. It will be a new char, and a different angle. It could easily be Leon, Claire, or another supporting character, who acts a supporting character for the new protagonist. Down the road they could collide in an over arching plot, similar to RE 6, but less action and more story. RE 6, had good intentions, but it was so discombobulated with to many things going on. Trying to tell 3 short stories, that interweave sounds good, but it just didn't hit the mark. RE games that just push 1 narrative, works better, and I hope in the far future, if they choose to collide characters ensemble again that they will take a 1 narrative approach. Maybe using a returning character who hasn't been seen in a while, like Jill, and using her as the narrative piece, to explain everything that has happened plus what the over arching plot will be.
I mean, Rose probably has the ability to control the mold Imo, the resident evil franchise should wrap things up by letting us face Umbrella itself rather than just it’s fuck ups over and over again
As long as we get more Re7/8 and less RE6 I'm happy. These two games were so good at actually "going back to the roots" of the game. Part of that imo was the fact that the story is able to focus on singular outbreak events and what transpires unlike the globe trotting we had in RE6 where everything is happening full throttle. This allows Capcom to give atmosphere to the game setting.

One character that I’m really interested is the Duke. He was helping Ethan to take out Miranda so looks like he might be part of another organization or maybe leading one himself.
He does mention the merchant from 4 is a friend of his. There's definitely something about him. Mentions that he doesn't even know WHAT he is. There's docs mentioning he trades with the villains and I think he's helping Ethan for some ulterior motive.

@@r3ll282 I can't think of anything specific. It seems to be one of those things that is left up to speculation. I personally think it's an organization type thing. Both merchants travel around like nothing's amiss a docs you find say the duke even trades with the lord's. Also both games don't deal with the zombie virus but more plague like infections. Overall I'm looking forward to more information about them. It's the smaller things in these games that excite me.
It was dumb becuase if he had enough strength to walk back into the "arena" with the megamycyte or whatever, he had enough strength to follow Chris. I think he just gave up. I'd be depressed too if I found out me and my baby were mold people.
That alone makes me think the Heisenburg, and maybe others in the village, had a connection to RE5. Did he have involvement in some form? His abilities are very similar to uroburos. It looked like there is another arc thats not discussed, but perhaps hinted in the later part of the game
@@kodiak1984 they clearly only get second hand information from outsiders like the Duke or other merchants. Heisen also mentioned that they were not allowed to leave the village(lords and villagers) this explains the stagnated technology inside the village. It is either that he heard it from the travelling merchants or that chris and heisen actually met and fought inside the village.
@@jonglopez5400 but, assuming Spencer visited the village to take part in the research of the mold. That is where he got the logo for Umbrella. Spencer almost certainly was there in the village AND left. So perhaps there have been visitors who have come and gone from the village. BSAA were there in some form, not just a one-off. Even Miranda left so who is to say the others havent? At some point, heisenberg came to the village, he is not a local. Chris being a boulder punching bastard seems too much of a specific exact detail to be passed around as second hand information. Perhaps, there is history between chris and heisenburg. And they must have clashed in the village too

Everyone pretty much said how ridiculous it was of Chris to punch a boulder. Even on videos of that part on RU-vid have people commenting on it. I think it was Capcom’s fun by addressing a ridiculous event in a last game. And well, Heisenberg was the best character to deliver that line.
Fun fact the parasite that changed the house lords is called "Cadou" which means "gift" if translated from Romanian to English. So it could mean that the 4 house lords got the "Cadou" or rather said the gift from Miranda that gave them superpowers. Or it may have some other interpretation.

I personally think it's better to go out with a bang (pun intended) than to overstay his welcome in the series. Sure it's sad how he goes but it's memorable and has gravitas to it. If he was around for lets say for example another three or so games we could get tired of him so this shake up and changing protagonist for future installments is a good move.

If there is a new game starring Chris wouldn't that put him up to about 50-60 years old? Considering he was fairly young during Racoon city and Sherry grew up, that would put two infected girls growing to adulthood in his lifetime. Either he's still roided up to punch boulders, he's got some superpower from all the bioweapons he's fought, or he's gonna be close to his last set of missions.
I'm pretty sure Zoe and Mia were just infected when they were still alive and their bodies were fine, while Ethan fully got his head squished and got turned fully molded, like his whole body did.
We don’t know how fast Rose can age. Possibly she became a young adult in two-three years as she aged fast so she can protect herself. While a baby/child should would need others. I highly doubt we’ll get a 20 year time skip. Why? Because that’d be the end of fan favorite RE characters they’d be too old or possibly gotten killed.
@@phifan-mia1503 the man in black clearly stated that rose is just kid, this meant that rose is most likely less than 20 years old. It is possible that she has grownn naturally because she is naturally born through pregnancy between a vaccinated woman plus a "humanoid molded" man who is still completely sane and still looks a normal human even after becoming a molded. It is possible that she inherited this and had mutated into one that has better control against the mold. Eveline is artificially created in a lab through miranda giving her daugther's dna to the scientists. And as we always know in re, everything created in a lab is always bound to have flaws.
To add to the theory of Rose aging faster than normal: when Rose was born, she was really big from a standard baby standpoint maybe this explain why the doctor wanted to have a look at her more closely.
Chris is 47 in RE8, besides playing as a bioweapon wasn't fun in RE6 (and 5, punching boulders anyone?) and won't be fun ever in a survival horror game (although it isn't really survival horror anymore anyway)
RE8 isn't as intense horror wise as 7 there's maybe like 3 parts where you are kind of creeped out for me it was the beginning and the beneviento estate, and heisenbergs area, and all 3 come and go pretty quick, I've ran through the game 4 times. And there isn't a single jump scare the game really plays off the atmosphere. And I all hate horror games but I buckled down and stuck with 7 so when 8 came out I was in it for the long run because there just good games. But everyone is different, I'd recommend renting it and seeing if you can get through it if not you lose like $2 at a red box or something.
@Mr Mistah Well I dislike being scared on a personal level ever since I was a child. Also, I have never really been able to play any kind of horror game, especially survival horror based games, as a child due to getting overly immersed and getting very hefty severe nightmares, which embarrassingly has followed me into my adult life. Also I either tended to either fumble the controls badly, freeze up entirely, or became too scared to continue playing often leaving the games unfinished or being unwilling to try playing them. Watching someone else play, however, doesn't have much impact on me as playing them directly does, and this has improved my tolerance somewhat over the years that most horror-based scenarios in non-horror based games don't affect me much and simply give me a tad bit of discomfort. I have yet to be desensitized to try and play a full-on horror game, or survival horror game, however.
I'm like you I don't play horror games or watch horror movies, I think they create a negative atmosphere and mental state. I enjoy listening to recaps though. Only problem is the cadence of this guys voice isn't made for storytelling. You miss a lot with the way he speaks even though its detailed.
Its really interesting because even tho Ethan was 100% molded he was still able to keep himself human, have a normal life, and even have a kid. He never mutated either regardless of how badly he got fucked up and even felt pain as a human would. No one else in the series had this kind of reaction to a parasite or virus in the series when they became infected, especially fully infected. The only off thing about ethan was that he had really strong regeneration which made people question that he might have some kind of powers and got infected, but other than that he was fully human. I wish they explained that more, especially considering the entire point of RE 7 was to get a antidote for mia which ended up curing her. I dont get how she was cured AND not killed but ethan wasnt and still remained molded? Maybe because he had no reaction everyone just thought he wasnt infected, BUT mia DID know. Not to mention how Zoe got cured aswell. So there is kind of a plot hole there unless im missing something. Was that catalyst that Ethan died and then became fully molded where as Mia and Zoe were still alive when they got infected? i dont get it because even if Mia and Zoe were still alive, they were infected for so long that surely they would have died from the infection regardless. All of that being said tho, there is a possibility left open to bring Ethan back. The entire plot of Village was Miranda wanting to bring her dead daughter back to life because of the megamycete being able to store consciousness of those who have died as data. She needed Rose to do this. So its possible Rose has the power to bring Ethan back, but she just doesnt know how yet. She obviously has his DNA inside her. But thats up to Capcom.
On the Ethan antidote thing. His situation is different from both Mia and Zoe. He actually died. The only reason hes still alive to begin with is that the mold clumped together and somehow brought him back. That's why when it's revealed he's mold he starts to calcify. I'm guessing if both Mia and Zoe had died and been rebuilt by the mold they wouldn't have been cured either.

Ethan Winters looking for her daughter Rose, kind a similar to the 1st Silent Hill where Harry Mason also desperately looking for her daughter Cherryl. not to mention Alessa and Eveline characters have similarities too.
Also saw major similarities to Bloodborne. The final boss battle with Miranda and the baby was pretty similar to the wet nurse boss battle. One of the phases in both games has her dissapear into darkness as she attacks you
Those aren't the only similarities. In Resident Evil 7, Ethan goes looking for his wife, who has been gone for 3 years, after receiving an email from her. He finds her, but she is acting strange and survives multiple events that should have killed her. In Silent Hill 2, James goes looking for his wife, who has been dead for 3 years, after receiving a letter from her. He finds someone who looks exactly like her, but she acts differently and comes back to life multiple times. In Resident Evil 8, Ethan tries to rescue his daughter, who has been taken by a group of people that operate in a village. In Silent Hill 1, Harry tries to find his daughter after she goes missing. They came to the town because of the cult that operates there.
If you go i to the final fight with no ammo you can still beat the boss. After about ten minutes of dodging cherryl kills the boss herself. In harrys journal he says “with a single cry cherryl killed their god” or something like that. I think thats the true ending you go in fight hard as hell then cherryl just retakes her power and is reborn as heather.
You kind of missed the whole part where we actually arent sure if Ethan is even dead. In the end scene of Rose's story, we clearly see someone that looks like Ethan's model in the background.

It actually was Ethan’s model. Some crafty guy was able to zoom in on it and showed it was him. Don’t know why they did that after saying his story was over.

A similar technique was used in Star Wars Rebels in the Tataooine episode where we see Like running to his home from a far distance. Instead of creating a new model for Luke the animators used the model for the main protagonists. Saves time, money, and were not suppose to see actual details anyway.
So basically the other monster we see from the other games is the virus form of the mold that the creator of umbrella has and manipulated, but he mold is the more pure form, creating the vampires, lycans, and the monsters of resident evil village
Which is hilarious because doesn't the origin story of RE tell us that they developed the virus from a mold or "some kind of fungus" as that one guy stupidly states? Remember that the flower the T-virus comes from grew in a marshland. As someone who lives in a state that is mostly wetlands I can safely say molds are an issue. It's entirely possible especially if he introduced the mold to the marshlands by simply having been present.
T-Virus, or any virus whatsoever are wholly independent, and not connected to megamycede. in any way, shape, or form actually. The notes in the lab with Spencer in it even stated that the Mold wouldn'thave an effect as world- changing as say, a virus will do. Currently, the two source of bioweapons in the series are Progenitor Virus, and Megamycede. and whatever the hell Las Plagas is
Even Resident Evil, a video game franchise, that has a plot that is predominantly focused around “viral outbreaks” be like “Ok we’re so done with pandemics, we’re doing werewolves, creepy dolls and vampires now”.
Yeah and it all makes sense in the context of the game itself. We literally had giant mutated BOW frogs and lizards and snakes and stuff in the older RE entires. And shapeshifter T-rex mosquito hybrid monster of a boss and a Big jelly liquid BOW and Ustanak all in RE6. Werewolves and vampires of sort is not too far fetched
I guess at one point they decided that the Evil in Resident Evil can mean more than just zombies. Supernatural horror is actually more fitting to evil. Zombie outbreaks are more fitting to pandemic end of the world apocalypse type shit. Both scary but I’m actually seeing the evil in RE now. The balance between horror and action is way better now with 7 and 8.
These new first person RE games are honestly my favorite Resident Evil games so far. I'm new to the series mostly, only ever played code veronica back then but couldn't even get past the beginning. I've played RE2 remake and Re3 remake but these new ones were great. Ethan was awesome, and I love the twist and that this all ties into the normal RE series. At first I thought re7 was just a game where you get kidnapped by a crazy family. It was, but then it became much more than that, like everyone was being controlled by a bioweapon, and it wasn't actually the familys fault. It was so interesting.
Facts heisenberg doesn’t even have any problem with Ethan, they just both wanna take down Miranda. He’s just a normal guy that got put in an unfortunate situation

I'd be interested in seeing Mia as a protagonist and Ada and/or Leon being the supporting character, given Mia's shady past when working for The Connections and Ada being the type to be linked with such a company.
What's funny is that Rose is aging differently than a normal human being. Remember, even Eveline turned into a grandma AFTER 3 years. I'm sure she's going to be around the main characters.

RE8 reminds me alot of Digimon Season 1 when the Digi-Destined went up against the Dark Masters. Donna Beneviento = Puppetmon, Mother Miranda / Lady D = Piedmon , Salvatore Moreau = megaseadramon , and Heisenberg = Machinedramon
Ethan being a mold explains a lot. That's why he didn't get infected, why he can reattach his hand and it works perfectly, and how chuncks of him missing come back with in minutes. But its amazing that the mold still had a small bit of loyalty to the mold since we saw eveline
Until we find out that twist, I was convinced that health liquid was next gen Neosporin 😂. Makes more sense now in the story. I also wonder if Rose has advanced aging like Evelyn and it’s only been a few years to that end scene.

Here’s my theory about the ending, you know how the liquid you use heals you right, and how Ethan has mold, I reckon when you use the liquid the mold enhances or reacts to the liquid, meaning it can heal, remember how ethans hand got cut off, he put the liquid on the hand and legit put it back together, maybe the mold put it back together because the liquid enhanced it enough to heal. And about the ending. Eveline wanted a family, and remember how she told Ethan he died by jack in re7, I reckon Mia begged eveline to help Ethan out, but with a cost, the cost would be eveline gets the be apart of the family, which at the end the agent refers to rose as eveline. That’s my theory, and how Ethan got his heart ripped out, that was a main part and cannot be replaced otherwise he would die by the mold, I think the only reason he was still alive was due to the mold taking place of the heart, but it wasn’t strong enough because it’s not a full heart, that’s why we was so weak and couldn’t walk, also if your asking why the mold didn’t just make another heart it would either just take over him or his mold isn’t strong enough
I think the first aid med liquid doesn’t actually ‘heal’ Ethan,the mold did He just uses it because he thinks it does something to his body to make it feel better but it’s actually the mold.Basically the first aid liquid was a placebo

Just finished RE8 tonight and I had to find a video like this to help explain several things I did not understand. This is quite an insane story...thats all I have to say
Nice summary of the the story, was looking for a full explanation of the events, while watching the end credits you book showing you how Mother Miranda started infecting the villagers, she probably promised them immortality as she was was able to revive a girl that died from the Spanish flu.
I loved 7 but I gotta say 8 was amazing.. the twist of being a zombie the entire time and still surviving all cuts and damage... pretty awesome game over all.
What I learned from this game, is that if anyone ever points a gun at my head, I'll move like a Lycan. Those things are so hard to hit it's ridiculous.
Fun fact. If you look at the refrigarator at the start of the game it says half birthday. Its giving hints that Rosemary ages twice as fast considering how big she was at the start of the game.
My theory is that rose, Like Eveline ages faster than a normal human being. If you recall in RE7, in 2014, The baker family found out Eveline and i think she's around 10 or 12 years old, and in just 3 years time, she becomes an old Woman. I also think that the last scene was around just 1 to 2 years after the village incident. so we may see another RE 9 in the near future, or a Possible RE Revelations 3
Nah, Rose is the perfect human who born from molded-infected father and molded-infected but cured mother. She's age like normal human but having power of eveline and ethan in her body.
This was more a summary than an explanation. Would love some lore connections and deep dives. You also totally passed over the figure next to the car at the VERY end.
at the end of the game...there's an interesting part when Rose and her bodyguard of sorts...drive down the road when there's a mysterious figure walking towards the vehicle to which it stops then the game suddenly ends....there seems to me more to it than just a random scene.

Would be nice to play as Rose in a future installment, maybe use some of those "infected" powers, instead of firearms, could definitely be part of some cool stealth mechanics.
