Some people in the RE community might've not been the biggest fan of Ethan in 7(from what I've heard at least) but to me Ethan really stands out and deserves to be in the same discussion as Leon, Chris, and Jill for one of the best protagonists. He wasn't a agent, a military operative, a cop, or anything, he was just an ordinary guy but his entire story can be summed up with the question "How far would you be willing to go to protect your family?" He willingly walked into hell to save Mia, and showed no hesitation whatsoever when Rose was kidnapped thus showing what you'd expect any loving father to do; and in the end when he knew he was literally just a dead man walking he sacrificed himself so his wife and daughter would live. You can't possibly get any more selfless than that. You could even hear the pain in his voice and how much he doesn't want to do what he has to in his final words "Goodbye Rosemary"
In the early phase of the game. Ethan loses his pinky and ring finger. Some might chalk it up to coincidence but I see it as clever thinking by Capcom. Naturally, the ring finger + the ring symbolized Ethan's connection to his family. When it was bitten off it symbolizes his family is quite literally been torn apart. Rose & Mia is at the mercy of Miranda. The Pinky is important for grip strength. This quite literally symbolizes that Ethan has no control over what will happen to him. For example, Eveline reveals to Ethan he is made entirely of mold and that he will never see his family again. He has no control over this. He's a dead man walking who has limited time. In the final cutscene, he begins to fade away. At the end of the game, Ethan reclaims these things. At the end of the game, he knows he will die no matter what. If he continued with Chris he puts Rose and Chris at risk of Miranda in her BESERK form. So Ethan stays back reclaiming control and has Miranda at his mercy, ultimately blowing her up to save his family. From sacrificing himself he finally regains control of what's happening to him by having Miranda at his mercy and completed his goal of saving Rose. This may be far-fetched but I believe it's true to a degree. Going back to the Eveline cutscene we see that his ring and pinky finger return. This is symbolism that Ethan is about to: A. Save rose and B. Kill Miranda.
Agreed Ethan was able to take back everything he lost. I like how we play as rosemary winters in the dlc because winter symbolizes change or rebirth and the story just passed down from one winters to another like a true legacy. The winters family legacy ❤ rest easy Ethan winters you will never be forgotten a true hero a legend but most of all a loving father ❤🥺
One of the best characters that conquered our heart Not a hero but much than that True father legend Rip Ethan Winters ----------------------------------- 𝑰𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝓔𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓷 𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼 𝑨 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒖𝒔𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆.❣️
Ethan, youre not strong soldier like chris, but you fullfill the father's duty, you put family first before yourself All of resident evil edition, im only like re 7 & 8, cause ethan winters
Ethans story is so sad to me, I wish he could've got to spend more time with rose, he deserved to watch her grow up. He literally my favorite character throughout this entire series. He was just an ordinary man who went through hell to protect and save the ones he loved and even in death he's still protecting them. Such a great man❤
Ethan will never be forgotten after what he did for saving Rose's life, avenge the Villagers after being killed/murdered from the Monsters including the Lycans, Destroyed the 4 Lords, Kill Mother Miranda for good, saved his own family, helping BSAA Hound Wolf Squad to Destroyed the Village and Hesinberg's Factory and being a promised good hearted Father.
It's a funny thing. RE Franchise have so many badass, sexy character, but Ethan, a normal character and have been underestimate due to low characteristic, has become the hero of his daughter, and the hero who saved the whole Franchise after the disappointed RE3 Remake.
I didn't think he was dead bc at the end the person beside the car is him but I know he's dead cause even if he survived the explosion he will still dissolve bc the mold
He went to go save his daughter and that’s exactly what he did …. SH…😭😭😭THIIS IS SO EMOTIONAL I LOVE MY RESIDENT EVIL GALS AND GUYS this is the connection between me and my dad it’s so good my dad and Ethan (if he was real) would get along good lol and me and rose would be besties (whenever I play re8 Ethan reminds me that my dad would do this) OMG THEY MADE A STORY OF MIA NOW ETHAN WHAT IF ROSE:00. (This is ALMOST every relationship with fathers and daughters there just so 🥺 ETHANS A TRUE HERO!!!!!)
Being real at first in re 7 (beginning) he is just a Normal prick who doesn't have any personality but in the end of re 8 we all were crying for him and wanted his comeback
@@superassassingaming4600 For me it is pure symbolism another resident will be based on the story of Rose Ethan may appear in her head just like Eveline in Ethan's head
