There's a bunch of great games that'll never leave PSVR 1. Wipeout, Statik, Astrobot Rescue Mission, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Blood and Truth, Here They Lie, Dreams, Farpoint, and Ace Combat 7 (even though VR was limited) were all awesome exclusive games. And yeah, it really sucks. Hopefully someday someone will make a PS4 emulator on PC that can do PSVR 1 games.
I think it’s worth noting that the PSVR and PSVR2versions of RE7,8 and 4REMAKE only exist because Sony paid them to make the port. They literally wouldn’t exist if Sony didn’t invest in them.
Thank you! Said the same thing. It's actually even more true of RE4 on the Quest 2, which was mostly developed by Armature (a Meta studio) and published by Meta. Not really shady business practices, just Capcom only bothering with VR when another company pays them to.
as someone who bought the Quest 2 specifically for RE4, then the PSVR2 specifically for RE4R and RE8, I feel this to my core. praying for RE2R/RE3R VR ports in the future to justify my poor financial decisions

welcome back!!! this video was great, well worth the wait. this actually resonates with me a lot because Ive done things in the same vein. like whenever a new COD game comes out I'd simply go "oh just dont buy it" without ever thinking more than that, mostly because Ive never really had to deal with something like that. but putting it into perspective that there's more than just the connection of "game fun", and that a lot of people have a very sentimental attachment to franchises makes me rethink how I feel about it... again, great video!
The Resident Evil VR ports aren't just exclusive because Sony or Meta paid for them, they only exist because Sony or Meta paid for them, and if you're a platform holder and you fully fund the development of a port of a game it'd be dumb not to require exclusivity. In the case of the Quest version of RE4, it was published by Oculus Studios and developed by Armature Studios, which was either owned by Meta or purchased shortly afterward. But yeah, not being able to play on your Rift is a kick in the teeth. That said, it would've been another whole ass port to PC, and Meta wanted to push the Quest 2 and ditch PC. In the case of RE7 for PSVR 1, according to documents leaked in a Capcom data breach, Sony paid Capcom $10 million for the port, and only required it to be exclusive for one year. Capcom just never bothered to port it anywhere else because nobody paid them to. As for buying a PSVR 2 just for RE4 Remake, dude, it wouldn't just be for RE4 Remake. It also has RE8. And Madison is apparently the creepiest VR game since RE7. Too bad Sony has abandoned the PSVR 2 faster than they did the Vita. Enjoyed your video 👍
I think the thing that ultimately bothered me is that these headsets are becoming indivifual platforms, and not accessories you can use to enhance a platform you already have. If the games were all just running on your PC or Playstation with the ability to use whatever headset you want then I feel it would really help the medium move forward. But since each headset is becoming it's own individual, platform first, with support for use in other platforms coming second, it keeps creating the issue of always needing to buy another headset. That's what's really scaring me away from buying PSVR2 or the quest 3 TBH. The thought that I'll just have to buy a PSVR 3 Or quest 4 in a few years to play newer games.
Got into PC gaming in 2020 after I was done finally with consoles after the xbox one and PS4, because I saw the gimmicks they were pulling and the unfair subscriptions and un finished games being released and it was just time to let go and stop giving these guys money in my opinion. I got a RTX 3080 at retail price before the scalping started happening. And I waited to figure out how and for what actual purpose I would use VR for as well as what to look for. Finally later that same year I got my FIRST VR headset the Valve Index and was EXTREMELY pleased at the experience, understood why people loved VR so much, and have been playing VR as well as PC games and getting used to mods and stuff ever since. I skipped on the Quest 2 but then came back to the idea of getting a Quest when the Quest 3 came out because I wanted to try what it would feel like to have a wireless headset I could use and still connect to my PC for PCVR and use my headset as a standalone when I wasnt near my PC or at home after that I sold my valve index and stuck with the Quest 3 ever since. If valve were to create a standalone version of the index I'd come back to them as I loved their customer service and I also did by a steam deck later on to use it on the go along with my quest 3, while still using my pc at home for more intensive graphical power gameplay and performance power. But yeah...as of right now RTX 3080 is the best graphics card on the market, Quest 3 is the best headset on the market, and Steam deck is the best handheld on the market and I would never go back to console gaming or fall for the stupid gimmicks theyre still pulling today ever again.

Sony funded those vr ports hence the exclusivity and occulus actually developed there re 4 port and rebuilt all the assets to fit vr hence there exclusivity.

Then came out Resident Evil 4 VR on Quest 2, I've bought it and haven't played it. Bought for the future u know :) Then came remake, and I bought it for my PS5. Still haven't played RE4 even once :) But always feeling that there's something special for me. As of VR games and headsets. I have both Q3 and PSVR 2. They are both enjoyable, and different. The news that you can use PSVR 2 with PC also is a very nice gift for the community.

I absolutely agree: these games are some of the best I have ever played, and it pains me that they are locked to these platforms. I shudder to think if my PSVR2 controllers ever break.
Psvr2 was my first entrance to VR. I dont regret it even if next itteration has no backwards compatibility cause.. I tend to play my fav games even after their time has passed... For example, I am also going through Ratchet 3 (after 1 & 2).. on an actual ps2 haha.. upscaled it to my projector 😅 I hope you can stay strong and wait to get the exclusives headsets only when you can a sale
Love that this pops up in my recommended as I’m having the moral dilemma on if I bite the bullet on a PSVR2 for RE VR, when that’s the main reason I upgraded to a quest 2 (& yet I have barely touched Quest 2’s RE4)
I’m thinking of getting a quest 3 soon. I’ve never played VR- like, at all. Is it worth jumping in now? I don’t care for sports or fitness games but I’m really interested in combat games like Alyx and mods like RE2 vr. Maybe VRchat.

I feel the same way about Resident Evil and VR in particular and I did end up buying PSVR2 for the 2 exclusive RE games, and I think you made the right choice because although I had a lot of fun with those 2 games almost every other game on psvr2 is also available on PC and Quest. In most cases the PC and Quest versions are way better too because they allow mod support, crossplay, and even get more updates. Definitely wait for a massive sale or more games that are actually better on PlayStation.
I started on quest 2, and eventually I got a ps5 and decided to get a psvr2 not just for resident evil, but it certainly helped me in my decision, I love village and 4, but it’s all down to circumstance really, I don’t have a pc or nothing
Tbh pc has a bunch of mods so they already have most of the versions of RE on vr, especially having access to re2r and more Imo the residnet evil vr games should stay exclusive to PlayStation, especially since pc is already getting psvr2 support, this just gives them access psvr2 as well as there huge library of games, while ps players are stuck with a limited stock

Huge psvr2 fan, had it since launch. Never had psvr 1. I agree with what you say but it comes down to one word. Money. There just isn't that much money to be made off vr atm, unfortunately. That's why is not worth making psvr backwards compatible. Tbh I'm not even sure what the point of sony making the psvr 2 was. They clearly have had no faith in it since launch.

Yeah. Village VR is great, and the Quest version or RE4 is one of the best VR games I've ever played, but it's really hard to recommend either of them because of the stupid-ass exclusivity. I really, really hope Capcom keeps making VR modes for Resident Evil, but it'll be very disheartening if they keep making them exclusives. Even putting aside morals, it's harmful to the medium itself.
village and re4 remake are on psvr 2 and unlike PSVR 1 they do got a lot of good vr games beside just resident evil and sony did not go full stupid and actually has a good control for VR this time

as one who had beaten RE4VR 3 times, i can say its really damn fucking amazing, but the exclusivitty is horrible. i want PC people to play it because its so damn incredible. i will also mention that the quest 2 is a android vr headset. android is very moddable. oh hey! what are you doing here sidequest. oh? minecraft java in vr? dont mind if i do.
Seriously, tho I remember when I got my First HTC vive I remember being like this is so fucking cool, but.. less wires would be nicer. Cut to today and fully switch to quest 2 thinking about quest 3 with no wire or if I want I want to run PCVR just needs one core and is not complex. *Seriously, I feel like going from 8-bit NES to Playstation 2 when going from HTC to oculus quest 2.*
And because of modding... you could have played PCVR with the PSVR headset... and even now.. thanks to modders hacking and Sony finding out, we soon will be able to play PCVR games with the PSVR2, with an adapter..
So PSVR2 RE4 is amazing. I think its one of the best VR experiences i've ever tried. The only thing coming close was HL Alyx. I got PSVR2 mainly for GT7 so RE4 was a bonus and a free upgrade as I owned the flat screen. But If you waited the headset is now on discount. But I disagree about backwards compatibility. Playing low res PSVR1 titles does not make sense on PSVR2. When no mans sky came to PSVR2 it was ported from the PSVR1 version, It was so low res I couldn't play it. But with updates it is now amazing. So i'm all for PSVR1 games coming to PSVR2 but with increased res and updates. A lot of games have and are free upgrades like Rez, after the fall, thumper. I think this is better, along as the majority of games come to it. We still need blood and truth and wipeout. I do totally agree about RE4 on Quest 2. les face it its a joke compared to the PSVR2 version. If you want to but PSVR2 just for RE4, that is expensive and doesn't make sense. Great Vid thanks
Psvr2 doesn’t have backwards comparability cuz of the tracking method and the shitty psvr1 controllers. Psvr3 should have it though. Anyway psvr2 is pretty great, I love it

I feel like there's a difference between not supporting bad business practices and not supporting someone's IP. Because Hogwarts legacy at the end of the day was a very good game that didn't have anti consumer practices. One word, FoMo. It's an exploit as old as sin, and so many people fall for it, I rarely buy games brand new now days. Great video my man.
