Thanks for sharing! Is that 12.5k for each house or for both together? If it's the cost for both then it's roughly the same $/SF as ours, otherwise it's twice as much...which would be interesting to know.
That is a steal of a deal. I'm assuming they didn't prepare plans, permits or walk the job with inspectors for that cost. You can NOT have an alarm on passive purge sprinkler system or flushing toilets rings an alarm. A single check is the only backflow device needed. They should not use exposed pex to supply sprinklers- metallic pipe if exposed. Yes they were missing screws throughout..
We have fire retardant building supplys and a new fire station every square mile and now they make us spend 5 to 10K on sprinklers. DON'T THINK WE NEED SO MANY FIRE STATIONS. Count how many fires you have in your city and divide it into the Fire BUDGET. EVERY FIRE IS A MILLION DOLLAR FIRE.
Does Oregon require sprinklers now too or did you do it because you wanted them? Last I knew only CA and maybe MD? had adopted the code portion that requires them.
Not that I am aware of. I had one installed in a renovation of 1977 build, torn to studs. I am actually having it removed before the drywall goes up, being they installed it incorrectly and actually damaged several joists. I still want a system, but since I am no longer moving into that home, it's not a great loss. Next time, I will know to watch progress and hire a different company. @@BuildItLikeBeckhams
