Love your video. I used to live in Okinawa City! It was such a pleasure to view your video! The amount of talking was just right in that you allowed some quiet time as well.
Good to see you back, I remember sometimes just getting out and walking around. . .a couple of us even walked from Futenma to Naminoue just for the heck of it. . .plus we visited several old castle sites that weren't on the tourist maps and you had to do a bit of hiking through the countryside to get there. 👍👍
Nice! Thanks! The day I left was the morning they switched the traffic from right to left….I walked out back gate at Kadena and watched them working on switching the road signs ….what a thing to do in one night!
Okay, Matt... I hung in there with ya all 2.5 miles, heard your recurring dream and your contemplation of a new format for your videos. Enjoyed your company as I plugged along on my treadmill. I tried synchronizing your steps (camera bobs) with mine and estimated that you averaged 2.6 - 2.7 mph. Not bad. A little slower on the inclines but not by much. I was in total agreement when you commented that you had been going mostly uphill. Was pleased when you reversed course and went back down. I would adjust the incline on my treadmill when you'd go up, etc. Hey! I burned 331 calories too! So, yeah, I enjoy your walks and will search for more. When winter sets in here in Montana I typically do a LOT less walking outdoors. I'm a wuss. But we'll continue walking the dogs outside since I have yet to convince Shisa that she should walk with me on the treadmill. In fact the thing scares the s#!t out of 'er! Thanks for the tour! Oh, BTW, it would be good if you would do a little pre-flight orientation of the area at the beginning of your video. It took me a while to figure out where you were. Had I seen that tapped keg building before I would have been right on target but... Ato de!
Awesome. Such a fun walk. I would love to visit that shrine now. It’s kind of funny how significant dreams seem to happen when you are 8 or 9. I know I did at that time in my life. And that off road Daihatsu Copen was wild! It almost tempts me to sell my Hijet for one like that. The wabi sabi definitely applies to the dirty concrete buildings in my opinion. I love how so many of the buildings look like rock because of the weathering.
Greetings Matt! Just came across your channel and subscribed. Great videos! I live in Okinawa also! I’m currently at my place in Thailand for a few months, then I’ll be back to Okinawa at my place in Chatan/Sunabe. I have some videos of Okinawa you might be interested to see. Island hopping video: “Making it Count”. Looking forward to more of your videos! Keep up the great work! 👋👋👋
Nice residential walk. First time I heard of Hotto Motto, which appears to be a take-out bento place. On NHK we saw a piece about the booming Sushiro restaurants, which offer fully automated sushi and nigirizushi servings with incredible sashimi portions and great prices. I checked and there is a Sushiro in Koza just off Highway 330. Not sure how far it is from your apartment but maybe you could check it out. I definitely plan to visit the Sushiro restaurants in Japan during our next visit--the sushi looked so fantastic (and very reasonable prices).

@Muteki Matt I enjoy these videos. An occasional one would be cool. Maybe alternate between ASMR and the narrative videos or even your suggestion of "Walking with a friend".
@Muteki Matt Just thought of a video suggestion for another walk. I was stationed at Camp Kinser and noticed on Google Street View that there's a new bridge (with a walking path) that goes along the shoreline outside the base and goes towards Naja. 🤷♂️ Just a thought.
@@kozakid thanks Bill. I was on Okinawa Aug74-Sep75, at Camp Foster. Loved it there, except for the heat and humidity, but after awhile you get use to it, as you know. Take care, stay safe and greetings from Charleston West Virginia and Semper Fi
@@kozakid when I was on Okinawa, the NIS investigated a KKK group on Okinawa....and a few guys in my unit were investigated. I worked at H&S Bn (S-1 shop) 3rd Force Service Regiment. One Marine in our unit was taken away, I never saw him again. Just a little about the NIS when I was on Okinawa.
