All the Governments have given permissions to illegal buildings which has led to floods. So those who gave permission should compensate to the House owners and the builders who got permission by paying bribe should also be arrested.

In Bengaluru, over 50% of the buildings are illegally construed and most are permitted by the officials knowingly. Once you start punishing the officials for not taking action against it initially, only then these problems will come down.

Flat owners know that lakes are converted into driveways in Mahaveer construction, do visit BG roads Madival lake encroachment is done by many apartment owners. Buyers bought it knowing these flats were sold at 20/30 lakh cost, please note many good banks didn't fund for Mahaveer project's in Bangalore. Fools buy such lake facing, Drainage encourage property.

The govt must draw up a list of officials’ and builders’ names who had approved sanction to build the apartment. The water supply Dept officials and EB officials also have to come in this list. They all must answer how they permitted the construction. Heads must roll. They all have to be jailed till life.

Why don’t you’ll also speak to the builders too. They have been as irresponsible as the government officials. Everyone needs to be exposed and held responsible for the mess.

The primary issue is not the demolition of the building. The primary issue is who gave the building permission what government authority and who authorise the building construction. Even if he retired from service. Let him (tahsildar and authorised personnel) accountable for this construction and should compensate for the government as well as for residents in the apartment.

Most of the PPL are migrants....they aren't are aware of the rajakaluve.....if it is done it should be done and compensate the residents from corrupt BBMP officials and builders who knowingly built apartment on rajakaluve.....if they are able to provide the alternate land there will be lots of mess in the rajakaluve flow mechanism and complete mess in mapping it....

I love the idea of open nalas and "storm water drain". In no developed country, the concept of open nalas exists. And that's why drainage in those countries work successfully.

Sad and as usual the common man suffers right away! What happens to the BBMP and BDA Officials and the civic Engineer's who gave the approvals? What about the Builder's and Developers who bribed these officials? I remember 20 years back i was looking at a land behind Raj Bhavan Road in Hyderabad. This was an area behind the Railway line on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake. . I could see easily as a layman that the Railway line was built on the outer parts of the lake bed and almost half kilometre within the lake. Few culverts were there to let the water from the lake to come towards this side which must happen during monsoon. However those culverts were now blocked fully with construction debris. The whole area was plotted with big roads and street lights etc. Nearly 10% of the plots were already built on and had big homes. I told the broker that this looks like illegal land. He assured me nothing will happen it will get regularised. He proudly told that 2 judges, 8 IAS officers many small time local politicians, few well know business men had already built houses and moved in there. So he said i can be assured that this is a safe place to buy land and build a house. How come these kind of stories dont come out? We only hear sob stories like these in the video. Everyone knows where they are buying homes. Unfortunately our courts are the bigger culprits. No case is ever resolved in lower courts. They dont function properly and give nonsensical verdicts. Their aim is the case should go to higher court and ger resolved there. Every case of the rich goes up to the supreme court takes 15-30 years. Right to appeal should be limited and lower courts should be made accountable. If these encroachers, corrupt officials are punishec quickly the problem of illegal construction and departments rife with corruption will disappear. Unfortunately this will never happen in india. Its just a fantasy. Its all reduced to politics and religion.

Get hold of the documents, comb through the signatories to the documents and ask them questions and hold them accountable. Who is going to hold the people, who actually gavevtje clearances. If the institutions loose become untrustworthy, then what's the point of having those institutions.

Not a shock sir I have seen many lakes in those areas in my childhood but after 2001 each got disappeared due to encroachment

Buyers shud have checked village map, hissa tippany, akarbandh, and all sale-deeds from farmers who originally owned the land. After buying the agriculture land builder would have done DC-coversion, then obtained A-katha for whole land and only then built. In all these vilage-maps, clearly the kharab land, SWD (Storm water drain) will be CLEARLY Identified. Lawyers (of buyers or banks) should have clearly identified this and NOT-approved the project. Buyers if they do thorough LEGAL check this problem wont happen. Most go for 5000 Rs legal check who will just go through xerox copies of documents (which could be faked) and they approve. A good lawyer will go to DC-office, Sub-registrar office and match with originals or get additional documents and check properly. IGNORANCE is Not an Excuse. Buying with No-knowledge is also Not an excuse.

all states should enact laws that senior citizens from other states should retire only to their place-of-birth home states/villages, guide the locals in the schools, colleges to develop their own homes. this will ensure infra will also come up slowly with schools, hospitals, etc. as it is so much experience and knowledge is lost in a hopeless system like india and with the only hopes of the young being to move to big cities to eke out living, the reps from the non-metro areas that outnumber the metro-mps/mlas again ditch their homes and become real estate sharks in the cities. and the vicious cycle goes on - look at karnataka . north ka is woefully neglected for decades but most of the mlas are from there! all are hoarders of lot of loot.

Sir, if you have paid sky high amount while purchasing apartments, u should also check for all the documents A to Z including the storm water drains. If you want to go to the court, go to the court and file a case against the builder who sold you. U cannot deviate the direction of the storm water drain at any cost. If that happens then everywhere else the encroachment is taking place, they will not keep their mouths shut. Once a fault is always a fault and u must pay the prize for it.

Big Lesson for home buyers: If there is a lake or storm water drain or rain water drain with in 100 mts of any apartment or layout .. Stay away from buying those properties.
