Real change doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years of working together with a community to help them build the foundations they need to change their futures.
Over the 16 years of the Paddipalai program in Sri Lanka, Australian child sponsors didn’t just help create education, health and livelihood programs, they gave hope and encouragement to children who thought they had lost everything.
“She’s like a mother to me,” said Sivvapriya, a former sponsored child from Paddipalai. “It actually feels like we are talking in person,” said Rekha, another sponsored child.
Here are a few things your generosity achieved:
➡️Poverty dropped from 89% to 41%
➡️The high school pass rate rose from 3% to 66%
➡️Houses with toilets have increased from 19% to 90%
