Bordered by Parliament St. to the west and River St. to the east in Toronto’s downtown, Regent Park has seen a lot of change over the years.
But as Toronto Historian Morgan Cameron Ross highlights in this episode of Then&Now, the changes implemented in this neighbourhood haven’t always benefited the resilient community within.

I lived there in the mid 80s to early 90s as a kid. In a way I'm sad to see my home gone even if it came with some difficult memories.

I don't know what it is like there now,my mother was one of the people trying to change it with the Hugh Garner coop.. but not sure it had much impact.. still a dangerous place always will be

It doesnt seem as dangerous as it used to. At least around the large new buildings. I wouldnt choose to walk through there by myself at night. But it doesnt feel sketchy during the day. Pretty busy sidewalks with normal looking people going about their day.

No matter where you are the danger hardly comes to you unless you’re involved in organized crime. Or have a personal issue with a person.

It deosnt feel nearly as sketchy as many other places in the city, at least during the day near the new buildings.
