Per request here is the purple geode pour. My camera died right as I was putting on the embellishments. I outlined a little more colors after the video cut off. To be completely honest this is only my 6th resin pour and I am still learning. As the paint shifts to the top right, it is falling off the wood. All materials listed below. This process took 6 hours. Thanks for watching!
edited for all of the safety police: You should always wear gloves and a mask, and work in a well ventalted area! My mask was just fogging up my glasses and I couldn't see, so I just opened up my garage.

I have watched many of these geode creations and yours is the best by far. You make it look so realistic.

Great video and beautiful result. Thank you for sharing. Friendly reminder for everyone working with large quantities of epoxy: please, please use gloves and a proper epoxy mask. Resin is toxic. The more being mixed, the greater the toxic emanations. If you don't wear a mask, open your windows to let fresh air come in.

Since I'm just starting to learn how to do geode paintings, it would really help me if you started with a list of your materials and what you are pouring. What are you painting on. Did you mix your acrylics with resin? How long does it take to dry? Maybe a commentary while you are demonstrating would help newbies. Your geode turned out really nice. Were you using Swarovski crystals? Nice!

To be honest I don't really know what I'm doing, and still a newbie as well! I listed all materials used in the description. I mixed a small squirt of acrylics in with individual resin cups :) I used various crystals and beads, But learned that crushed glass you can buy from michaels would work better!

Great job - can't believe it's only your 6th time! I was just wondering - I've never used resin before; you said this process took 6 hours - did it stay wet the whole time, since you kept adding more and more, or was it drying some as the hours went by. Thanks!
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
Thanks! It stayed wet the whole time but starts to get hard to work with in a couple of hours. What takes the longest is the embelishments, gold and silver leaf

What type of resin were you using? Did it cure fully? I have never heard of one staying workable that long
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
I used Countertop epoxy! Whenever the resin starts to cure, just add heat :)

Wow! That is just to pretty..I just love it but it cut off just at the part I wanted to see how yo added the gems and beads did you add when the resin was seeting up so that it would not sink to the bottom and disapear. was this an issue. How did you the crystals? I wish you could do a video about adding those type of embelishments pretty please. New subbie. Yipee I am your 300 hundred subbie.. One more question how and where do you get plywood in those shapes would be very Interested in that. Have a great day.
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
Hi there. To be honest I am not very tech savy and my camera died right as I was starting the embelishments. I was adding them as the resin was wet and didn't have enough time to stop and charge my camera. I just cut cheap plywood with a jigsaw into the shape I wanted.
@sparkle5ms

Thanks for the quick reply. What was the thickness of the plywood and was it difficult to cut it?

If you tape up your edges creating a wall, you'd lose less resin and there would be less distortion. Looks great though 👍🏻

SuperMysavior thanks! I just spray painted it with a shiny black. Not sure if it makes a difference or not. I don’t ever prime anything, even though I probably should 😆

Love this. Question best way to prep your wood slice. I have heard so many bubbles pop up and can cause issues? Thanks.
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
Tania Class thanks! I just sand it down with a fine grain and make sure there is no dirt or sawdust on it before you pour. The heat gun brings the bubbles up and pops them before the resin dries

I am very new to resin and was wondering how much do you mix at a time? Do you stop for a while? Do you do sections at a time and stop?
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
I am new as well and still learning. You can do as many layers as you want with resin, but I do mine all at once.

Did you seal it with Resin after it was dry for perserveration or is it sealed since the resin is already in the paint? How much resin did you put in the paint?
@laurensmith1678
@laurensmith1678 6 лет назад
I didn't seal it because I liked the 3d effects of the crystals. If you want a flat surface, you can seal it with taped edges. I used just a small squirt of acrylic paint in my resin cups!
