I've have a resin shed for over 9 years and it is still looking good and have had no real problems with it my other wooden sheds needed repairs and painting.

You need to put that on a concrete base or build a wood platform. That’s causing a lot of your misalignment issues. No matter how much you say that gravel is level,it’s not as flat as a concrete pad or wood platform.

Yeah I agree with that. That said, I just found out that because one of the main braces is missing, its causes the roof to sag and twisting the shed. I need them to send that asap

Lovely video content! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Mahorrla Wooden Paradise Method (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is an awesome one off product for building better sheds and woodworking without the headache. Ive heard some super things about it and my m8 at last got cool results with it.

Thanks for the video. I have a small, 5x3 craftsman (same thing as suncast) under my carport. It works fine for what I need, but I'm going to get a much bigger shed for my mower and tools, etc. I took a look at a lifetime shed and it felt much more sturdy, seemed like better quality than suncast/craftsman. Lumber is outrageous right now, so I'm thinking resin still

We built a solid ACR ground contact treated wood foundation, and pre-assembled everything. None of the metal bracket items had any stickers or labels. The vent screens were wadded up with other hardware, and barely cover the vent sizes. The roof beam got assembled incorrectly because only one part was marked "UP ^" and the other two had no labels. We took it apart and re assembled it the right way. Some of the back peak (vertical) brackets and side reinforcement brackets were not included. The door windows were also hard to assemble as you had to insert screws from the backside, and the rubber gasket kept coming out of the groove. We had a good foundation, but the roof was hard to get lined up. The walls were easy to assemble, and they were even and squared up. But the roof didn't line up because the tress beams only had a flimsy bracket, and somehow got out of alignment. The back vertical support brackets (braces) were missing. We looked for other comments, or videos, and found a comment on Amazon where someone else had the exact same problem. The left roof panels would not go on. We planned to use ours for our lawnmower, and other lightweight gardening items, and lawn chairs. We ended up dis-assembling our 8ft x 10 ft Suncast Tremont shed, and returned it to the store for a full refund. Thank you for your honest and helpful review !

Just installed my Craftasman/Suncast 8X13 shed - installed on 2X6 ground contact wood platform on 3/4inch stone gravel 5 inches deep for drainage and 3/4inch plywood for base floor. Roof was a problem - but used screw ground spikes on each side of shed and a wide nylon strap to snug down, tighten / grip shed over roof to help connect inside align to brace to seat into roof braces. Also had large hook screws that screwed into inside roof panels holes to screw in and pull down top roofs panels to do inside screws. Did not know what to do with the 3 bars like he has left - ( no instructions what they are for? ) Bought my shed 7 or 8 years ago from SEARs and finally got around to installing it. Sears had the shed on sale back then for $999 and a 20% off coupon. The 3 foot extension was $149 back then as well. Was not missing any parts. (Note had a rack for inside top back accessory for more storage from Suncast Loft Shelf-Ceiling Storage that came with 2 roof bracket replacements)

I have a similar shed and the roof collapsed in the middle from the weight of the snow. The trusses are to weak. You have to reinforce them to avoid this. The roof panels do warp which doesn’t help, also there is not enough venting. At times it gets so hot you cannot go inside.

on mine, the corners on the door end are starting to split from the bottom to the roof line. Most SunCast sheds seem to be having the same problem,, only on the door end of the shed. Most prople recommend using the wide gorilla clear tape to put it back together. Also, my doors suck too and have never lined up. Also ended building a 2x3 frame inside to strengthen the shed walls, and to have something to mount my shelves to since the walls won't support crap.

I have a similar shed that the doors are in direct sun also. The doors tend to twist such that they don't close correctly. I screwed a metal plate at the top edge of the overlapping door, and added a bracket with a heavy duty rare earth magnet attached to it. When the doors are closed the magnet hold the doors in place. Then when the doors are heated up by the sun they tend to stay flat. I hope it helps.

The missing pieces is the biggest issue. The roof sagging could be due to the missing braces and pieces. Door alignment is the next biggest issue which could also be related to missing pieces.

My facility has had one of these for about one year to store decontamination kits, hoses, kiddie pools, washing tents, barrels, tarps, buckets etc. The corners are bending out of square and you can see the items inside. The roof is beginning to sag badly after some Arizona dry (light) snow.

I think it looks great, always frustrating when the manufacturer misses pieces. The instructions should include a parts list and the phone number if parts are missing. You stated: “What I had done was I laid out a pad and I used pea gravel because they said that it's good for pea gravel. And I brought this down a little bit of an angle…” I think this could be why there are alignment issues.
@EVERYDAYDON
@EVERYDAYDON 4 года назад
BTW The bracket is screwed to the horizontal metal support that spans over door tops on the shed itself. Not much room to align the magnet with the door plate though

I think I figured out why I am having trouble with the doors lining up. The middle support braces that they forgot to send is causing the roof to sag and therefore twisting the shed. After I brace the roof up, they straightened out. Hopefully they get those sent asap!!!

I am going to be ordering a new shed for my backyard. I will just have someone come by and build it for me. Concrete slab and all. It's been mentioned before and I have to agree that because of the price of lumber right now I will probably go resin but I will wait to get an estimate on both kinds before I totally make up my mind. I'm wondering if putting a resin shed on a concrete slab would make all the difference as far as how level and sturdy it would be. I want it done before winter arrives. I want my lawn care equipment out of my garage. I need the room. I want something that is bug and weather resistant.

Hey, sorry you're not loving this shed. I just finished putting my Suncast 8x8 shed together. The instructions were hellified for sure. But I took my time and followed every direction to the letter. Because of constant interruptions, hot weather, rain, and moving my daughter into her new house and doing things THERE as well, this took me 2 weeks!!. I built a wooden base using 2x4's sitting on top of concrete blocks and spent 3 days making it level.... (because i'm not great at this leveling business). Again, I took my time on this and did everything slowly. There was not ONE part missing. Every screw, every washer was perfectly in the numbered bags and every thing fit. I did not have any help putting this together. Couple things: 1: You mentioned the vent screens, they're only a thin piece of mesh, but I see them in your video at 6:53.... the bag says "VENT SCREENS" ... are you saying they were not in the bag? 2: You mentioned that the windows are flimsy/plastic/frosted. Those windows are not for security. What would you prefer? Glass? 3: The doors are not secure, someone could rip them off; When a thief wants something, locks don't matter. If its really a big concern, put a security camera in the shed. 4: The tool to screw the plastic screws in are made a certain way so that people cannot OVERTIGHTEN those screws, it specifically mentions this in the instructions. Too much tension and it will affect OTHER areas of the shed and could be a reason your door is not closing properly. 5: I'm getting the feeling that you may have skipped ahead in some of the directions. Again; My shed has only been up for 1 week as of (9-27-2020). I am hoping and kinda praying that it is fine going forward.

Like your chan man! So id like to offer advice on this one for your viewers interested in these type of sheds. I build Lifetime resin sheds quite often as part of my work and aside from you missing parts which sucks, the big mistake I see was not putting it on a solid level plane like concrete or a solid built wood base. This looks very similar to the Lifetime sheds I build and as long as you have a level solid base they go together pretty easy. If not they can be a bear. Ive probably built 40 plus 8X10 sheds of this resin type and 10 or more bigger ones and the real advantage of these is the low maintenance and quick assembly for DIYers who dont have carpentry skills. Of course many still hire assembly companies like mine to build the thing even though they are pretty straight forward. At least the Lifetime brand sheds are. Anyone watching should know a solid level base plane is a must for these sheds to go together easily. Take it from a guy that built my first one of these over 10 years ago on grass for a customer and it was a nightmare lol. And since then many other seemingly level enough surfaces that turned out to make the assembly more difficult then it needed to be. These types of sheds are imo good little sheds for the price, quick assembly, durability, and easy to nonexistent maintenance. IF they are built on a level solid base!

I bought an 8 x 10 for $900. You got 3 more feet for $700.. doesn't seem worth it to me. Also, the bracing in the roof needs to be in not only because of snow, but because of heat. They'll sag in the heat... as for the gable vents just screw up some screen material... You may need to pull some rock out in the door area so the floor will drop and then the doors should close.

My biggest complaint about these sheds is using them in ultra hot climates. Here in Texas the summers can reach 100+F for 90 days straight. The extreme heat combined with UV degradation causes these plastic panels to bow. It’s even worse if the foundation is off. We’re in the process of taking our small shed apart and reassembling it on top of industrial pallets. Trying also to devise a way to strengthen the corners where two panels join. Angle iron? First we have to figure out how to un-warp the bowed walls and roof (curling up at edges). I totally agree that they are likely not worth the money unless you live in a moderate heat climate. Also the larger the shed and thus longer the panel span the less likely this technology will work. I worked for a cooling tower manufacturer whose manufactured designs were constructed of pultruded panels made of a mixture of chopped fiberglass resin and plastic polymer (much stronger than this material). These fiberglass/plastic panels had to be massively over engineered compared to galvanized structures just to handle the water loads and not deform in inclement conditions. All in all plastic may be okay but reserve it for smaller structures (think 4X6). Thanks for sharing your experience.

@@ToolReviewZone thank you, good to hear that. I'm looking at the keter Oakland shed, looks great. But there is some forums, all old forums, talking about condensation issues, but maybe these new plastic sheds are much better at beating it, thanks for the response.

The skylights will eventually crack and fall apart. Also shed need to be sealed everywhere! 60-100 mph wind and your shed may be torn apart. Doors never line up or close after a year. I have 3. My wife rushed and bought them.I built 2 additions on my house and I can build a shed,but nooo my wife orders these stupid plastic crap!

This is human error mainly but these products should last a good long life! This looks like blow mold and should be a HD plastic! Plastics haven’t been proven to ever except screws! Is it worth the money yes! Because it will last and save money! All sheds have upkeeps! But yes these types of products need more improvements!!!

Resin sheds are cr@p! A old fashion cost a fractional amount of equivalent Resin shed. The only issue is that tin sheds don't come with floor so a foundation must be built.

That's too large for a resin shed - the weight can't be distributed properly.....should have bought a pre-fab wood version.

$1600 would get you the materials to scratch build a 10X12x8 shed with 5 tab shingles and felt paper, I built my brother's shed at that dimensions for just under $1600

Yeah bro, I just found that the missing support braces are causing the roof to sag and is twisting the shed causing the door not to align. Once I get those in it should hopefully correct the issue
