Until watching this video I was determined to make some of my own wands out of only natural materials….. good sir you have changed me 😁 The way you incorporate the UV resin with the piece of wood from your garden is so inspiring!! Let the imperfections become the character!! Awesome videos as always, slowly making my way through your catalogue!
Now I want to make one like it! Great project, so many cool techniques (especially the UV resin which I have quite a bit standing around, but never thought of in this context!). Thanks for sharing!
Have you ever thought of inlaying an led bulb before the resin? You could set the + for your palm and the - for a location fir your index finger to activate
Brooo, thaw and dry your wood BEFORE you work it, or you can crack it like a mofo Edit: my apologies bro. Im impatient and quick to point things out, and see why you did that (you know, right after you pointed it out).
🤣🤣🤣 you are, of course, 100% correct and I thank you for letting me know in a nice way. A lot of people in the comments section might have been mean about it. I hope you liked the build!
As a occult practitioner I tell you that as much work you put into your magical props they have a part of your spirit in them. Sounds whacky I know but when you work hard and with dedication on an item you empower it now you just need to present them to the elements and ask that they be imbued with their energies. It's really that simple. (Obviously it's a little more in-depth.) Again hopefully that bit of occult knowledge doesn't freak anyone out lol
Itching to try this, it looks more doable to me than using a lathe, especially since I don't own a lathe. Or a bandsaw, but I do have a jigsaw and belt sander! It's nice to see someone making the things I would like to make, using tools I have.
I made a little wand when I got into Harry Potter that I later burned it using my Zippo the lore behind it is that I carved it as a training wand to help me learn magic but now it's burned out you could use it to cast spells but would most likely blow up and is put on display for the memory and my days as a novice mage.
Plot twist the legendary mage who gave her life to defeat the dark one is the war mage's great grandmother and he has reforged her wand to put a stop to his former friend the Corrupted Druid
The electrician in me wants to hollow out the wand handle, slip a white LED into the main resin block, add a thumb button, some LiPo batteries... you know.
It would be awesome if you forged a sword that will burst into flames at the push of a button🔥🔥🔥🔥 maybe you could take a look at the flaming wand and its mechanism
Thank you for the video! Is it possible to get a list of tools, or products you used for your projects in the description or comments? The video was very informative, but I think that would be a very useful addition! Thank you for the in depth instruction!
I love the wand. I think I got some details mixed up. What made The wand legendary. I guess what I'm saying is which part of that build was the wand and which part was the repair of the wand?
When it comes to your Glowy stuff, don't waste time letting the sun do it over hours when your UV light will do the same thing in less than a minute. That want looks Bitchin though.
The only one thing i would of liked you to of added to this is some form of LED light/s to really make the resin pop.... how you could of did that i have no idea lol but i guess thats advanced class
This is so dope! Alternativly, you can turn thing thing (in process of making it ofc) into an aquatic wand, with light blue resin and some seashells in the resin part :D
That wand is AMAZING. And it glows. Again love the enthusiasm of what it is made of u make wood and resin and leather and wire sound like the best thing in the world 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Your imagination is amazing u make up a story for everything and sounds like a real fantasy story
You should do War Mage robes War Mage spellbook and War Mage shield cus I'm imaging the War Mage walking onto the battlefield with a wand and shield casting lighting and shield spells
further idea. Drill a hole into the base and down the length of the shaft. When you're pouring resin, fill it all except the handle. There, put one of the balloon-lights from your potion build and cover it with saran wrap. Then, when it's all cured, it will create a pathway for the light to travel the entire wand. You can strap the balloon light into place in the handle with a small leather strap. On-off at will, and your center piece will absolutely light up, as well as that tip. And still glow with magic at night. To cure the inside, you may either need to completely split it (not ideal I know but if done right would add more "explosion" character), use a different resin for the channels that's clear (probably the best bet so as to not loose light in the color), or figure out how to get UV to penetrate the length (no clue). Really fun build.
I've never done it with wood but I have buried LED's inside resin with the wires coming out the end to make a fish tank decoration that could light up. I don't see why you couldn't fit it onto a wand or staff or something...
Beautiful work, as always. The fracture and repair is a great idea, however, the break looks noticeably artificial. Instead of using a saw to make the pre-cuts, maybe try using a knife. The shorter cutting contact patch will have you reposition more often and cause a more jagged line while still giving the clean fracture you want.
