Resistance Band Workout || Full Body Strength || Great for Beginners & Seniors

Great 30 minute resistance band workout that’s perfect for anyone including beginners and seniors!
I’m using a band with handles in this video, but you could also use any stretchy band like a theraband or a band that has multiple loops.
Stretchy bands are great for everyone because they are easy on your joints and you can change the difficulty/resistance simple by where you grip it.
This video begins with a quick warm up. We will then perform strengthening exercises in a standing position, followed by floor work sitting on our bottoms and one move on our hands and knees for the glutes. If you are uncomfortable on your hands and knees, the same movements can be done in a standing position. (Slightly hinged over and pressing your hands against a wall or countertop). The workout is completed by stretching the muscles while using the band as a stretching prop as well.
This workout is full body. We will perform strength and toning exercises for the shoulders, biceps, triceps and back. Followed by abs, glutes and legs!

My first time using the band and I found it to be more comfortable on my wrists than using dumb bells. I have hand, thumb, wrist issues with arthritis. Thank you so much.

I love all your videos but this one in particular I have a hard time doing the glute ones on the floor due to pain in both wrists, but I will keep trying and hopefully with time, I can do them. Thank you for sharing all these videos.

Got my new resistance band today and of course had to try it out right away. I liked it, but was lazy and didn't put my sneakers on. Shoes next time, but nevertheless I did it and it was def challenging, esp choking up on the band. Can't wait to try another one, with shoes of course.😊

I really enjoy your band workouts as I have the ones with the handles. But, I am afraid to do this one again, as at about 19:00, the band slipped off my feet and hit me in the face. I was protected from serious injury as it hit my eye glasses. This one could cause serious injury and really should not be practiced without eye protection, imo.

It's also a good idea to always check your bands for wear and tear so they don't snap. Maybe try a different pair of shoes as well. If the bottoms are smooth it would be harder to keep the band in place.

So glad Karen! You can do this several days if you want to, but make sure you are not too sore. You need to allow your muscles time to recover.

Hi there, I am just about to buy some bands do your workouts. I see they come in different weights -do you have a recommendation?

All the brands are different, The bands I'm currently using come in light, med & heavy. It's up to you and your strength level. Think of it like dumbbells and the size that you reach for. If you use smaller dumbbells (like 3lbs) then get the lower weight band. Here is a link to the bands that I use now. As long as you avoid any twisting movements as well as no rounding your back. I have an entire osteoporosis friendly playlist if you would rather do videos that you don’t have to modify.

Could you let us know the ? Strength of the band you’re using> I got one that I think says 30 lbs and I can’t get it stretched enough. I hope this makes sense.

My bands don't have weights on them. If yours won't stretch enough, then it's probably too "heavy" choose a lighter one if you have one. they are usually thinner in diameter.

Sure Sherry. The first link is for Alta bands. They are pricier but really nice and come with different attachments. The second link is for normal rubber ones on Amazon. My resistance bands are from Alta and are amazing! They come in a pack of three bands that are covered in a silky fabric so they don't pinch or pull the skin (such a nice feature) and are extremely high quality. They also come with velcro loop attachments so you can put them on your ankles as well as a door attachment to adhere one side of the band. Definitely worth checking out. Thank you Kitty. For the most part I would say that I eat "normal" 3 meals a day and snacks if I'm hungry. I don't eat pork or red meat and I really try to limit processed foods. I never eat fast food. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and veggies/salads and I try to eat organic as much as I can. I don't deprive myself of anything, I still eat pizza and ice cream, I just make sure it's good quality stuff! Most of all, I listen to my body and how it feels. I figured out that cutting sugar reduced my cravings for it. My body actually craves vegetables! So at this time, I don't have a diet plan to pass on, but my best advice to limit processed foods, (pre-made meals, chips, boxed cookies...) and try to eat mostly high quality protein, fruits and veggies. Good Gracious!! I was sweating BUCKETS!! I didn't realize that my IT band was SO TIGHT. After this exercise ( and water!), I did your kettlebell exercise with a 5lb kettlebell. I'm DEAD!! AWESOME EXERCISES!! Thank you, Lauren!!💪💪💪❤️❤️❤️ Btw, I used a 10lb. resistance band only because I didn't have a 5lb. one. I've since ordered a 5lb. band. They are hard to find! ❤️💪

I have been doing this video and the slightly longer one for about 2 years. My femur DEXA now indicates osteoporosis, but I can't find that you have any specifically using resistance band for this condition. Do you think I can continue with this video and your Senior & Beginner Workout w/a resistance band routines? I do plan to check out the osteoporosis ones you have but would like to continue using a resistance band. TIA.

Absolutely Catherine! To be careful, just modify any movements that require twisting motions and rounding of your back. I will put an osteoporosis friendly resistance band workout on my to-do list!!

Lauren, I am continuing to do 2 of your Resistance Band Workouts the 32:52 one 2x a week and your Senior & Beginner Workout w/ resistance band 41:32 min. 1x a week. It dawned on me rather than starting from scratch to create osteoporosis safe ones maybe you could just add text over the moves not to do. I did eliminate any with rounding the spine forward and also the golf swing like move, but some I am still not sure of. @@SeniorShapeFitness

Thank you! Any activity that you are consistent with can help you lose weight by burning calories. Just make sure as you grow stronger that you make it harder (like a tighter band) otherwise, you won't see any more improvements in strength. check out my workout for weight loss too! It's half cardio, half strength training. Good for you for taking control of your health!
