In this Resolume tutorial for Arena 4 & 5, and Avenue 4 the DocOptic team demonstrates several quick tips and tricks to help improve your workflow and enhance your live visuals and VJ sets. The following tips & tricks are covered: distributing effects stacks, how to quickly remove black backgrounds, quick access to dashboard controls by using presets, using math to change the values of parameters, loading your content packs and visual sets from compositions, how to make a simple glow effect, and creating quick masks from colored content.

Ay DocOptic, just want to say thank you so much for such a straightforward and concise tips and tricks vid. I looooove Resolume, and have been kind of wandering around within it, just bumping into cool stuff on accident, but this definitely gives me some specific processes to utilize and a general good foundation to work from! Great tutorial. How did you disable the audio controls and make it only for vjing?

Click on the View menu and then uncheck "Show Audio Controls"

When I try to merge a clip with the FX clip, for some reason the effects settings are not applied to the video! The video is in Resolume's format after converting through Alley. I have a master FX clip and then a duplicate. I Shift+Drag the clip onto the FX Duplicate. I see the word "Merge" pop up. They clips merge and now all of the additional settings are gone and I am left with just the basic "Cuepoints/Autopilot/Transform" Properties and none of the other effects that I had added the the FX clip. I have dried Shift-Dragging the video to the FX and also tried dragging the FX to the video. Both provide me with the same results... Any suggestions?? Thanks for the tutorial!

The Stroboscope is located under the Sources tab. Simply drag it to an empty clip and trigger.

if you merge the FX clip onto the VIDEO clip you don't lose the name of the Video Clip. Instead of dragging the video, drag the FX onto the Video

You can copy individual effects to a video clip, but if you merge an FX clip onto a video clip, it turns the video clip into an FX clip unfortunately.
