Resolume Slice Routing & Slice Transform Tutorial

This tutorial is all about using slices in Resolume Arena 7. It covers how slice routing and the slice transform effect in Resolume give you total control over the input to screens and surfaces. I’ll be demonstrating how it’s done by projection mapping a wedding cake as an example and part of the process will be creating a photo montage on the cake.

Thanks for your Tutorials, But is there a way to display single video clip on the whole screen (all slices) on Column 1 Then different clips (one each) on all slice on Column 2 and so on.

I followed the tutorial in slice routing but I got stucked when I tried to add more columns so I can display other columns. Can anyone help with this?

Right click on a column header and choose "New" or use the shortcut Command/Control+T

Is it possible to do this through madmapper as well?

Yes it is. MadMapper is set up differently so this process is more intuitive (it’s basically the relationship between input and output surfaces)

Hi. I use Resolume Arena 6, but in the "View" menu there is no "Show Slices". How can I do?

Hmm, I don't know what to tell you. Even in 6, it should be in the View menu, third from the bottom under Browser Panels.

Hi I'm new in this, so I don't understand quite a lot of things. Like how do you make the slicing into the shape of the cake? how do you see that box showing the cake? Can anyone pls help?

The box showing the cake is something I’ve added to the video so you can see what I’m seeing. Have you watched my Resolume cake mapping series from the beginning?

Soo...the first two minutes (the first way you use) is not needed anymore, becouse you also can use slice transform for that... just drop the whole screen (left or right) on the layer and use mask mode... With the effect you stay flexible and dont waste layers.

@@LumaBox Since Slice Transoform you dont need to use the advanced output "live". As long as the mapping is dont correct. Every plain you want to use need a slice. Everything else can be done with slice transform. Thats why slice transform was such a break through ;)

Oh yes I know you would never do slice routing “live” in the advanced output. Usually with cake mapping, you set everything up and then step away and let it run throughout the wedding, event etc. So the steps of the tutorial are intended to show ways of pre-preparing certain looks.
