For those criticising Okolie. (I get it his fights are always ugly). Remember Okolie started boxing very late at age 20, he was working at McDonald's, was out of shape kid growing up who didn't play sports. Okolie after a few years from working at McDonald's he was at the Olympics representing Great Britain and later became an unbeaten World champion as a pro with multiple title defenses. He also beat a legit former champ to win it. He did all that with limited skill, great punching power, alot of heart and determination. Okolie is not a gifted athlete or a skilled boxer. Okolie balance is awful, not very mobile, lacks any coordination, falls into his punche. He has to grab often because he has balance issues, often falls in whenever he throws more then 1 punch. He relies heavy on his strength, power and chin to win fights and up until now it worked, fair play to him. A comparison to another late starter was AJ. AJ started boxing late at age 18 & then won Gold at the Olympics 3 & half years later. AJ was the one who inspired Okolie to pick up boxing when he first watched him win gold at the Olympics 2012 (Okolie then went from no experience to being at that next Olympics in 2016). In AJ case he got to where he got to because he was a gifted athlete and was a natural when it came to boxing. AJ unlike Okolie was very coordinated at that size with both his hands & feet. AJ picked up things quickly, had the athleticism, mobility and talent to go from 0 boxing experience at age 18 to Olympic champion & World championship silver medalist in 3 & half years. Later a Unified World champ as a pro, all within 9 years since picking the sport up. AJ is a rare case, however he came from a more sports background. AJ played football, ran track, did motor sports which helped. Okolie wasn't from any sports background, he was not very agile, mobile. Okolie lacked the hand & foot coordination, lacked the mobility and ability to continue to improve & add to his game that AJ had. Okolie somehow turned very little in terms of skill, athleticism, balance and overall talent into alot, by becoming an Olympian & later a professional World champ. Okolie turned his life around, became a World champion and a multi milionaire. Okolie is a big success in life.

Okolie landed most of the better shots, Billam SMith wasn't landing an awful load of punches apart from the knockdowns, of which two were half Okolie losing his balance due to falling in. Was a very messy fight, Billam-Smith, I've never seen him before but he looked very tired from the beginning to me (he said he was ill for a week) and moved in a very laboured ponderous way and also seemed to be walking in with a tight guard but kind of head/chest first almost inviting to be hit...but he did manage to slip most straights being lined up. Okolie was smothering his own work but Bilam-Smith wasn't making enough space, having enough quick movement to allow himself to land shots.

Get a psychologist in the regards to the grabbing and holding as you smother your work and destroy any chance of using your attributes. Study inside fighters what they do with their hand placements. Stop automatically pushing against the opponent go and study wing Chung , wrestling , ju jitsu Muai Thai , mma to get comfortable with contact and learn to utilise your limbs as assets that enable not paralyse you… Study the martial arts .. Roberto Duran master of in fighting as a boxer. Muai Thai Thai fighters have a grappling art that enables their weapons .wing chin has a science of phone booth fighting body positions arm to arm combat etc .. Get the help I don’t know but get the help practice and study.

Thing is he won’t defeat CBS in rematch if he actually goes in and fights CBS by changing his style to fight properly rather than hugging cbs will counter him even more with the left hook and undercut. The only way Okolie could win is to jab and run from distance. But CBS will cut him off and clip him with counters. Okolie is the latest fighter to be exposed as hype. HES TERRIBLE!!! His true skill set showed tonight. Granted smith could’ve worked inside instead of calling to the referee every time but okolies performance was sad and in my opinion I always felt he was no good. This is not a case of him looking bad in just this fight I feel anybody okolie fights that’s good he will look the same because he has no skill set and all he will do is pray for a knockout by landing 1 punch. Definitely fought like a coward and was looking to be disqualified because he couldn’t do anything with smith once he realized he couldn’t knock him out. Mostly every time he held he didn’t even throw a punch he just ducked and rushed in to clinch. The ref was supposed to disqualify okolie. Horrible fight by Okolie but I’m not surprised one bit because I never felt he was any good and sad thing is he had a belt smh. Rolly Romero just got exposed for having no skill set a couple weeks ago now Okolie
