Responding to station for Interstate vehicle accident 

Dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident with possible entrapment on the interstate. From the initial size-up and location of the accident, I initially was responding to the scene, mostly because all of the available EMS units in the county were on other calls. Fortunately, our fire dept had a firefighter that was already on the interstate and within a mile of the accident when it was dispatched. He arrived on scene and began providing an assessment of the scene and patient. Our Rescue truck (with a Fire/Medic) and an Engine quickly responded and were on scene before I could get to the interstate. The accident was just inside the next county and our department has a policy that we cannot respond to calls outside our first due area unless authorized on a case-by-case basis. Since a Fire/medic was on scene, patient only had some minor bumps and was declining EMS, I diverted to main station, in the event that we needed our Brush truck for traffic control or another call went out. The scene was quickly cleared and all units returned in service.
