Thank you for showing us that interview. I’ve had numerous friends suffer with Alzheimer’s. Any disease is bad, but Alzheimer’s is exceptionally terrible, robbing a person of their mind.
I have so much love for this man hes a beautiful soul I have been a fan of the rifleman forever praying for his strength and wellness mr Crawford you are a beautiful person please stay strong and keep the faith and know just how well loved you are
I'm watching the Rifleman right now! In my opinion in the same class as Bonanza and Gunsmoke! Chuck Connors was a true legend! I only started watching The Rifleman in my 30's my father is 70 not too much younger than Johnny so I had to look him up again and see what he was up to; sorry to hear his condition. My prayers will be with him.
When you watch the Rifleman, the writing and story telling is so good, it’s as if the sum of all the parts is bigger than the whole. So many of the shows today are little more than eye candy. The Rifleman was a morality lesson.
In this interview Johnny sez whatever comes to his mind but he still had a bunch of memories to recount. The disease has now robbed him of the ability to speak. To me, this life wouldn't make sense if this is all there was. Life has transcendent value and I hope Johnny had faith in God and walked it out. Most people think he has 💵 stashed away but obviously he has treasures of higher value, true friends.♡ 🤗 ♡
- People call it God, Heaven, Spirit Life, Next Life, Unknown Dimension ... I don't pretend to know but I believe there is another existence for us other than this life on earth. ✨
He is quite skinny too. I pray he gets the help he needs. When I watch old westerns I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the part of Mark because they simply wouldn't have been as good.
I remember being a little 5 year old kid and a children's hospital waking up from surgery and guess what TV show was on when I woke up I remember The rifleman such a sweet show great actors Johnny Crawford gone but not forgotten
Thanks! I just donated to Johhny’s fund. Not being computer savvy, I just went to yahoo and typed in ‘Johnny Crawford go fund me’ and the site opened up....it took my credit card information easily. I actually named my son after Johnny’s character on the Rifleman (Mark)- because I was always impressed with every episode teaching a moral, focusing on a good, strong father (Luke) raising his child Mark). And I read over the years that behind the scenes, young Johnny was always polite and respectful to everyone on the set, janitor, sound man, everyone. He’s a good man.
Lewis Clark I don´t understand this video. It says he needs help raising money. Don´t you have a National Health Service in the USA? All medical treatment is free here in England.
Me too. Neighbor introduced me about a month ago. Now I've gone through all 5 seasons. Such a good show with good morals. Chuck and Johnny are forever in my DNA. And God bless them and all of us.
IF you notice I just found your videos.. I got to meet Mr.Crawford and spent the day with him and his ex-wife.. I can tell you they are good people so sorry here this .. I hope everyone who can help him and his family.
I never missed an episode of the Rifleman, I loved Chunk Connors and Johnny Crawford they just worked so well together. I know Chuck is gone now so I will say God Bless Johnny, you are still loved by this fan!!!
This is such a horrible disease that rob's people of their VERY self, as it steals their memories and personality! Thank u for this ❤️ and thank u for putting up an address where we can send help for his brave fight against this terrible disease! Luv u Johnny!! Thank u again!
Dear Johnny Crawford, You were the best. Thank you for all you gave to other people. Raised my kids these past 10 years watching old reruns of the Rifleman with you and Chuck Connors and all those wonderful actors and actresses that graced that show over its 4-5 year run. May you all be peacefully reunited on that movie set in Heaven. God bless you and rest in peace.
I watched Johnny on Rifleman as a child with my brother who had a Rifleman gun and when it would come on he would be ready to fire his gun with Chuck Conner at the beginning of the show. My brother is gone now but we both loved Johnny Crawford in the show. I wish Johnny the best in his struggle with Alzheimer's.
I hate to hear Johnny is suffering with Alzheimer's. I loved The Rifleman (especially Johnny) as a child. I know I join numerous fans who will be praying for him.
What's not to love? Johnny Crawford was quite a character and a really remarkable, multifaceted man who lived his life to the fullest. Even with the "belt starting to slip" he was still a consummate showman and he reminded us how he could still charm and hold an audience. The world was a better place while he was in it. May he Rest In Peace, he brought joy to so many for so long. Once again, Thanks Rob for sharing this.
I think the entire Hollywood community should step in to help with his medical bills, cause they are the ones who are in the best position to help another Hollywood icon.
Agree these not funny comedians are paid millions per episode of their smut shows so Hollywood should help someone decent out when they need it ! They are the ones who took advantage of him decades ago to begin with ...
Hey, Johnny, thanks for all the good memories you brought us on The Rifleman! You had to be a smart kid to remember all those lines! I'm currently homeless, but will keep you in my prayers! It's pretty stupid that the entertainment industry got away with screwing talented kids out of residuals and real pay for their hard work back then! Perhaps your people here can get some talented lawyer to go after the corporate entity who currently owns that series, because it's STILL on over the air television! They're using your work to charge people for entertainment, and sales of advertising, so it seems to me that they should be compensating you in some manner for it! Good luck, Johnny. Prayers, cowboy!
One of my favorite tv shows after school!!! Lost my mother almost 4 yrs ago to Alzheimer's. Hope his loved ones give him as much time and love as possible!! It'll mean more than you can imagine!!!
We try to cover all those (my favorites, too) in our back catalogue of interviews. More coming from the archives every Sunday morning on A WORD ON WESTERNS...for the near future. Keep watching and stay safe.
Thank you for sharing this Rob And for the opportunity to help Johnny. While I'm still working as (one of the essential workers) which I never thought that Working for Stater Bros Markets all these years would land me in that category for situations such as this, I'm glad to help. 👍
I’ve always loved this show...! Having worked with dementia patients much of my near 30 year nursing career I can only hope you’re as loved by your staff as I do my patients. God bless you, Johnny! #ilovethemccains
Thank You for letting us know that Johnny needs help. Everyday after school at 4pm I couldn’t wait to watch The Rifleman. I loved Lucas and Mark. Johnny was such a great child actor. I still watch it on videos today. I made a donation and I appreciate your help. Love and Prayers to Johnny for all the joy he’s brought into my life. ❤️
I didn't know he had Alzheimer's. He's still a handsome guy that entertained many. It's nice to see him still holding ground. There are newer therapies that can help this. Certainly he's worth every minute of it. I hope he's doing better with such grasp on living he should have a good outcome.
Thank you for the look back and Johnny’s career and update on how he is doing. Alzheimer’s Disease is such a devastating affliction and it so hard watch as it simply takes everything a person had, had and will have. These are hard times for everyone, and more so for those needing skilled nursing care. Thank you again, Rob. Be well and stay safe to all.
The Rifleman was such an amazing show, and Johnny was so good as Mark! May God grant him grace, peace, and mercy; and give us a cure for this horrible disease!
I just wanted to say thank you for all of the Rifleman episodes. As I have gotten older I really appreciate the message that the Rifleman brought to the viewers.
I was a struggling single mom and when I found the reruns of the Rifleman I found a kindred spirit in Lucas McCain. I was so touched by your acting Mr. Crawford that I did my best to raise my son to be like Mark. My son is now 27 and never gave me any trouble. Mr. Crawford you are an incredible actor and an inspiration to everyone. Thank you for being so wonderful.
We DO love Johnny ~ him being on The Rifleman is such a big childhood memory for me and and brothers ~ stay well Johnny! Thanks A Word on Westerns for this special video ~ you and your family stay well too!
I was Born 1958. I came up watching The Rifleman.love to see Chuck Connors shoot that rifle he was very bad.and fast, okay; Johnny was a boy that every kid bk than.wanted to be,, ,,,,,S.I.P.From DJ Skippo.
I only discovered your channel yesterday, but have been binge watching so many of your videos. You are bringing back so many memories for me. My dad loved westerns and we always watched them together. He was a British Korean War veteran, who only talked about it when he was drunk. He killed himself when he was 42. I remember watching Johnny together with Chuck Connors and felt like they were just like my dad and me. So sad to learn about Johnny's illness, but Mr Word, you are doing a great job supporting him through your work. Thank you.
I am a lady "Charlotte, 75. BD May 13. All our family loved The Rifleman. I loved Johnny singing. And acting. It is too bad he could not live on his ranch and his wife. And have a live in nurse. Love you Johnny. God Bless.
I was introduced to the Rifleman by my husband. I now watch faithfully the re-runs. My favorite part of each show was whenever "Mark" would ride a horse. He was such a great young rider. God bless you💗💗
I have been a fan of Johnny, since I first saw the Rifleman. I then became another fan of his when I heard him sing. I have 28 of Johnny's songs in my favourites and still enjoy them as much now, as when I first heard them. Good Bless Him...... I am the youngest of a family of eight... born 1944, not far off Johnny's age I had three of my sisters pass away while suffering from different stages of Alzheimer's, it is an insidious disease. Very nice of you to show your caring for Johnny, Rob.......... Barry, Ontario, Canada.
What a wonderful video with Johnny speaking. So so horrible with him fighting this Alzheimer's disease. May the good Lord Bless him and Charlotte thru these terrible times. And those who can help financially, please give what you can to help care for Johnny. We loved him so much as Mark McCain, now as Johnny Crawford. Bless Everyone.
Of all the talents he had,his sense of humor was exceptional. And believe me,humor IS a talent...if you ever met or personally know someone without a sense of humor, you will understand what I mean. You were so lucky to have known him and had him play at your wedding...you were truly blessed.
the rifleman has always been my favorite tv western. Johnny was a huge part of why i enjoyed the show. to me, Johnny as mark is the best acting by any young male actor in a tv series ever. he did not merely play himself. he had to act. God bless you Johnny Crawford.
My husband and l just love him and Chuck Connors. Its such a terrible disease, and for Johnny to get it just brakes our hearts. What a marvelous man and gentleman xoxo
Not only was this very touching but I never knew Johnny was so dang funny! Talented, humble and funny, even as knew his memory was going. His self-deprecating comments when he lost his train of thought were delightful and a little sad at the same time. That was a special interview Rob. Thanks for sharing.
