New sub! I had locs for 7 years and cut my hair in August. It's been fun getting to relearn my loose natural hair and I'm excited to keep going. I'm also excited about seeing other people's hair journeys so... I'm in!
I did big chop in 2022 and I loved it until I wanted braids 😂. My hair has grown a lot since then but I think I want to do the big chop this summer again 🤣
I have that sponge it is amazing for what I need. I have some damage in one area of my scalp. I had to cut it very low.😞 I got this sponge to help with massaging. Just subscribed! I just cut my hair on Monday 2/19 to start my natural hair journey. I’ve never had natural hair and I’m 45! My natural hair is about your length too! I’ve always worn short pixie cuts but relaxed. The baby afro now is so different but I’m slowly trying to get used to it! Let’s do this!! Can’t wait to see the progress.
I did my big chop last December and I feel you when you said you’re not confident just yet with short hair. That’s me and I’m 3 months and I just now get used to it.
Had the same feelings when I big chopped. But I soon became more confident as I realized that my TWA was easy to moisturise and seal. Plus I got compliments too 😅
I'm never cutting mine again. I experimented alot with my hair in my 20s. That might or might not change again until Im way way way older, but for now I got length and retention goals for mine 😊. You look nice with your cut by the way👍.
I think we are similar in many ways. 1. Coconut oil doesn't work for me. It dries my hair 2. When I did the big chop, my hair looked so dry and coarse( it stayed like that until I figured out my hair) Try creme of nature pure honey moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I learned from a trichologist that how you start will determine how your hair will turn out so if you struggle with hydration then get a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner
I big chopped on 2/3:24. Overall I love it & have gotten many compliments so far. Issue is my 4c hair gets & looks dry so fast!!! Don’t want to be product junkie again, but how else will I know what’s right for my hair…😢 I have about an inch & some change worth of hair right now.
I big chopped literally a week before you did! After being relaxed for 9 months because I wanted a bob too! We're journey twins! My last relaxer was August 2023 and i have 3 inches all around. (I may have an advantage cause I'm actually living in Jamaica... But we'll see😂)

I’m told that it’s not as good as the one straight from the continent; 😅 he doesn’t even want this one to touch him because he said it’s not good. I still use it though because it’s what I have for now.
Thank you. In Jamaica most of my meals are from backyard farm-grown produce; meats from local farmers etc. I am not picky so anything that is in season. My favorite is coconut, mango, and sugar cane though. Where are you from?
I am from America and I am interested in different diet from around the world. What kind of meat do Jamaicans eat often? Red or white? And do you consume alot of carbs or less? I believe when we are properly nourished our hair can grow to our waist like any other race. Thank you and have a good day!
For meat, we eat chicken, beef, mutton, pork, and fish variety… very similar to America but in our case especially on the rural side we know the farmers that rare them. For carbs, we have variations of yam, banana, plantains, pumpkin, breadfruit, etc that we tend to consume unprocessed by just boiling, and we snack on fruits. However, in urban areas, the diet is very similar to the American diet.
You look beautiful!! I'm planning to do the same in a few months to mark my breast cancer journey but going rel flat 🫣 I've always admired the loc community too, maybe one day.
