Fixed a sewing machine from 1913, thankfully in better shape than this, and she sews like a dream. Seeing this lady return to her beauty is so ASMR for a person loving vintage machines. They are working horses and honestly, it so relaxing hearing the sound of them.
She's just beautiful--and look how elegantly she smiles about the whole thing! I'm so glad that there are becoming more of us who appreciate the detailed, old, used and very lovely things! (Especially, my favorite tool of choice--I have three that are so very lovely.....even if they are not QUITE as beautiful as yours! I also am very proud of the woman who has gone off anon her own and learned to restore these amazing iron relics. She is a treasure, too, and I'm proud to call her my friend!
Just look at that sewing machine..... 😱....someone worked so much, for so long on that to fix clothes.....wow....my respect for man and women who work so much to fix the family's clothes nice and neat 👍🙏👍... Great job on fixing the machine 👏👏👍🌴greetings from Florida 🌴
I’m so happy you added decals. You did an amazing job restoring this. I’m going to repair one myself I wish I had half the talent and tools you have lol
I am so impressed. This looks great and I LOVE the fact that it is hand turned. There is a woman on RU-vid, Bernadette Banner, who uses one to create authentic late 1800s and early 1900 clothes. Just a tip for anyone watching who is interested....When I took a course on fixing computers, they said to take pictures while you take it apart. That way you know how it is suppose to go back together.
This is BY FAR the BEST youtube video on sewing machine restoration. Proper rust removal...Chromed plates properly chromed. Other videos you seem them just ruining all parts by gross spray painting. I loved that you did not forget the golden detail decoration. Congratulations for the great job!
You promote a circular economy and that alone is fantastic! Your skills are amazing and you prove you dont need a huge workshop to perfectly restore something. Keep it up, I admire you!
Hard work and amazing results. I did not know you could send for the decals and put them back on. The wood frame was restored also. Now I know I can do this myself. I do not have an electric system to clean the parts. I will have to use WD40 and brushes. thank you for showing me this. I bought a singer that was left outside and is rusted badly. I want to do this myself. I WILL USE PARTS CONTAINERS TO keep parts sepperated because this the first machine for me to rebuild.
My family had very similar sewing machine, made in USSR definitely earlier than 80's. And we still have (and use) such model with simplified decoration, it was made in 80's or 70's. I guess that the original model (prototype) was made by Zinger in 1st quarter of 20th century.
Awsome job i have my my Great Grand Mother 1905 foot tredle singer sowing machine. And it still sows better than some of the junk machines they make today. And you are inspiring me to restore it as you did . oh the decals make it pop like eye candy to 👍👍👍👏👏👏✌✌✌
Now this guy did a beautiful job , I thought that it was toast when he started , and all them tiny little screws to remember where they went and to what part they went . Sir , you did a fantastic job.
Wow that was amazing that makes me feel so good to see that people are still repairing stuff there's so much in the world that we could repair I wish you could teach people your wisdom. There is so much waste today no one repair stuff anymore if people were repairing stuff that would help the world the weather thank you God bless🙏🌟🌸
Me: "Oh he must be keeping track of all those screws and where everything g..." Him: *dumps everything into the bucket* Me: *has heart palpatations* Can someone tell me what is happening in the bucket, exactly?
I feel the same every time, my bf takes apart the fancy coffee machine, the lawn mower or one of my sewing machines 😱😱😱 Just tosses everything into a bowl, and magically never ends up with any screws left over. Some people seem to have the genetics to remember that stuff, while I have to take pictures of everything, put every single screw in a little plastic bag, write the whereabouts on it... and still end up with parts, I can’t exacty tell, where they came from. 😂
When he was taking the paint off, I was saying "Paint it red with flames, like a hot rod car!" I would love one painted red or shiny chrome looking. He went for old school pretty. I am sure whoever gets this machine will be happy because even without the decorations it was pretty, clean and will work for another 50 years.
You did such a beautiful job on that sewing machine. How do you remember to put everything back the way it was,all those screws, was you looking at something to put it back together.....
Therapeutic to watch. A good job. I didn't like the style of decoration added at the end and I preferred the old box case, so a shame he did not restore the box case as well.
Because this was a badged machine, (made in bulk and sold under many names) the decals were more than likely no longer available. Generics and Singers are. They are bright, because many times, the original decals were also. As for the box? My guess is that it got refinished and used elsewhere as a display case. Ultimately though, boxes are there in order to carry the machine with a lid. Most of these hand cranks lost the lid long ago. The new box prolly came with a new lid, even though we didn’t see it.
@@darussianping61 actually, if the machine is repaired good enough, it's not that hard to tune it. I've inherited a similar one from my granny, I know what I'm talking about.
This must have been a beauty when it was first made. Sure is sad right now! There must be a thousand parts and screws on this machine. I had no idea!!! Oh my goodness, what is the solution? And what is happening? What is the cleaning solution? Your work is amazing!!! Amazing to watch you put this back together. Magic skills!!! Totally beautiful! Great workmanship...
Awesome! I cannot help but think about how many articles of clothing was sewn on this back in the day when this machine was new. Did the owner love sewing on this machine, did they make a quilt? And now it is recycled back to life! Love it!
8:00 This is not how you use electrolysis to remove rust. In this setup, you're using whichever is the anode (positive) as a sacrificial metal to derust the cathode (negative). All of the other parts that were dumped behind the body of the sewing machine aren't going to do anything but get nasty water on them because they're not in circuit. A proper setup would be to attach a bare wire to all of the parts that need rust treatment to the negative cathode of a battery or voltage source and use a sacrificial piece of metal like rebar on the positive anode.
Judging by the elaborate detail on the access panels, I would guess that machine dates back from the 1940's at the latest. Maybe older. In any case, nicely done.
@@tyredd550 That is very possible, I'm not an expert on sewing machines I just know that the age of making even the most mundane things in life into beautiful works of art seems to have disappeared by the 1950's. Quite the pity.
@@jonvincentmusic They were made this way from Feb 1879 till now by Singer. You can purchase new from Singer India in handcrank or treadle models. The Sangu was from 1980's.
Hand cranked 😱..... Well I guess you can be living in an awesome cave somewhere in the mountains and have a wonderful functioning sewing machine 🙂👍 Awesome....loved the video... 👍
