I find this old neglected Bialaddin 310 Paraffin lamp and decide to restore it. The paint was flaking off and the body was made of brass so I decided to strip the old paint and polish up the existing brass to reveal a lovely useful lamp. Enjoy.

Hello from the south of India. Watching this brought back so much memories from my childhood. In the village, these were a standard for any festivities and we had one or two lying around in the house. People used to rent these on occasions such as festivals, weddings etc., Glad to see it come back to life. You have made my day. Thank you :)

@@user-en8rf4cp2x when I look for vintage items, I generally look for Made in USA first, but Made in England comes in a close second. At one time, made in Japan meant cheap crap, then they managed to change that by making quality stuff. Many years ago, made in China actually meant quality, but that was before Mao and all that crap. Maybe someday they'll realize quality will do better. However, you can't really blame the Chinese manufacturers, they make it cheap because that's what the buyers (chain stores and such) want, cheap stuff that doesn't last, that way we have to buy more. Not much of anything made today can be rebuilt, they make it so it's not restorable, generally speaking.

nice restoration. I have an old Anchor lamp (very similar design) in the shed. all the chrome has bubbled, it's rusty as anything after 30 years of sea fishing, a real mess. I keep looking at it thinking I should throw it out. after seeing your stunning job on this one, I think they may be hope for it. wish me luck

Great job on the restoration. It turned out nice. I just watched a video of a boy who was restoring a similar lantern and he took a wire brush grinding wheel to the brass tank. He could never buff out all the scratches. He put auto body filler on the vent hood. I'm guessing the first time it got hot the filler will bake out. Once again. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

The british army tmk never had this 310 model; instead they were firm customers of the 305 model till about the '70's, when they bought the nearly identical looking Vapalux M-1. With the 80's came the switch to the Vapalux 320 model till the end in the first decade of 2000, when the army opted for LED's.
