In the 60's when I was in grade school I spent a lot of time with my grandpa and his friend Mort. Mort was an English car nut and that's all he woul drive, very unusual in Indianapolis. I know he had at least 2 different Alvis' and a Bristol. It was fun riding in the left front seat like I was the pilot.
I first became aware of Alvis cars, as a teenager in the 60's and have been a huge fan since. Sad to say many people don't recognise the brand, but those that own them, cherish the style, quality and the mystery. Fantastic cars, long may they (with your help) live!
They were very beautiful motor cars that contributed to the upper levels of the English motor car industry. How sad that it has gone or gone to foreign ownership. There was a brief sight of a letter from Buckingham Palace and I know that the late Duke of Edinburgh was a huge fan. I think he owned a TD convertible in the early sixties.
I have a picture of Tony Curtis in a 1965 TE21 LHD Drophead reg: DKV 627C parked in Deanery Mews, London. The picture was wrongly captioned: Curtis and his 1938 Bentley.
Great video your dedication is exemplary,I have often wondered were the 1960 Alvis TD 21 Reg no RJ 516 is today this car was used in the 1962 film The Iron Maiden and was driven by Michael Craig who played an aircraft designer with a passion for his traction engine. Can you help please .Many Thanks for sharing.
