Restoration Land Cruiser LJ73 ''SAFARI CRUISER"

We started a new project, a body-off restoration of a Toyota Land Cruiser LJ73. We call the car the ''Safari Cruiser'' build for Touriffic Ibiza Safar www.touriffici.... It will be a 5 person convertible car and will get a nice handmade soft-top. The out en inside of the car will be painted in the nice bright original Toyota colour 'Breath Green'.
Every moving part will be checked and replaced like seals, bearings, brakes, etc. Also we bought new Koni shock absorbers and new Bf Goodrich all-terrain tyres 265/75/16 on new aluminium wheels.
Also there are some issues with the turbo diesel engine, but we sort this out in a later episode.
The car has the 2L-T 2.4 liter turbo diesel engine.
Original the car came from Gran Canaria, Spain and is transported by boat to the netherlands.

Wiegman 4x4 If you have to choose between a 1981 BJ40 3 liter diesel all original engine and trans or a J74series 1985 with the 1hz engine, what’s would be your selection? Congratulations to all your team. They look like have a lot of fun doing his job!

If the 1981 Bj40 is original this should be a 3.4 liter 3B engine. And the 1hz i like you said not original in the 70 series. What car have the most rust? And what model do you like the most? Both cars are very simular.

Wiegman 4x4 Well actually here in Costa Rica most of BJ Diesel Cruisers have a B 3.0 liter 4 cylinder diesel from factory. I checked the BJ car ID plate inside the engine bay and looks like the engine is the original and it have 99450 km on it as it was property of a farmer which uses it only on weekends. Will love a 3,4 but the other more rare option is a 3,6 liter inline 6 diesel. In gasoline we have a 2F 4,2 inline 6 too but it is too thirsty for me! It is just a little rusted in the rear wheel wells (as usual due its square design) but all the rest looks in great shape. Even the oil, gas and brake cylinder caps have the Japanese logo of Toyota and the radiator looks original too. You know if there is any tool to check the VIN number and identify how original it is? Thanks for your advice! You’re probably too busy for it so I appreciate your time to answer 👍🏻

really good job. In 5:12 Better if you weld it withe copper becuse it is very thin . This place considered as a weakness for this kind model. usually broken because of passenger weight.
