Hi everyone, here we are again, another year almost over so this time we are kicking off our Christmas Special with the restoration of a Dinky Toys Johnston Road sweeper based on the Ford D series truck which was very Kindly donated to my Channel by Mr David Williamson. It was a challenge but we made it eventually 😊👍
We finish off the video with a bit of animation, not brilliant, but a little bit of fun, the app I use has a habit of dropping the odd photo in totally the wrong sequence and I would also have liked to have spent more time on it, time I simply didn’t have, it already took a lot of hours just for the short bit I did, nevertheless I do hope you enjoy watching 👍😁

Great restoration as always, Nick! I’m glad you got it done in time to clear the snow off the road. The Christmas celebration was a hoot! I was laughing out loud. Love the Rovers, the milk truck and the 2 Dinky tank trucks especially. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and the sliding Santas are too funny! 😂

The end scene was just amazing and a few memories in there like the man with the beer bottle by the Castrol lorry ( I remember him). Ford D800 is the cab design.Both Matchbox and Dinky did some good D800 castings.I have a tipper that's been converted to a wreck truck!.Have a fab Xmas Nick,look forward to your years review.

Good morning Nick and a very happy Christmas to you and your family. What a lovely video and a super resto. It looks lovely, and the details on the cab front look amazing! I've got one of these going way back to my childhood in the 70s. Its a little scuffed but I'm going to leave it as it is. The only thing I may do is replace the drive belt for the brushes. It came off years ago. Anyway, all the best mate, and a very happy and healthy 2024 when it comes 👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you Alan and I am pleased you enjoyed the video, I’m glad this model was bits and pieces as I have been wanting to do one of these for a while and I had bought a couple on eBay to do which turned out too good to touch when they arrived, it is cool that you have one from your childhood , I wish I hadn’t been so rough with the models I had as a kid, now I’m trying to make up for all the ones I broke back then lol. All the best for tomorrow and the rest of the holidays Nick, and thank you for sharing over the year. I learn so much from watching videos of refurbs and restos and even other people's Code3s - I certainly would not be where I think I am in this hobby without the likes of yourself and many others. The sweeper is a complex thing with an awful lot of twiddly bits designed, I think, solely to let you damage finished paint! But I have found that touching up and a final coat of varnish after that, AND a good few days of curing, works a treat, if you can be patient!

Thank you Fraser, and you are welcome, thank you for your support, watching my videos and the donations you have made to me over the past year👍😊 I just knew the paint would chip on those doors despite my efforts of filing and sanding but these things are sent to try us, if I touch up I often just dab a bit of lacquer over that area with a brush which usually covers it up pretty well although you have to apply enough first time not to leave any brush marks! By crikey Nick you've done a great job on that road sweeper, it looks fantastic. I've got one in those colours, also another in all yellow. The Christmas Special at the end was absolutely fabulous, I don't know how you do it, you've missed your way there, you should've been a film producer. Every body has the cold and flu symptoms all over the country big fellow. I don’t comment a lot on your videos but it’s always a pure tonic to watch them no matter when you make them. As usual a great restoration with your own iconic touch you have no idea how therapeutic it is to watch along. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year Sir. Ps I remember in 1965 the news of the Ford Thames Trader coming to the end of production,but when I saw the replacement with the new Ford Custom Cab I was astonished it was simply years ahead of the old Trader LOL😂.

Wow Nick a very nice Johnston road sweeper the Green on the back looks really nice a very nice job . Ive got one of the Ford D with no opening doors and Square headlights ive put double tyres on the back of it just stuck some tyres on the inside of the outer ones looks very good. As for the Christmas video it was out stand again CT transport are doing well they have some nice vehicles in their Fleet and they very busy. All the best for the New year 🎉🎄👍 Ralph

Thank you Ralph, that’s a good idea to put double tyres on the back, they don’t quite look right with just the single wheels, glad you enjoyed the Christmas bit of the video, it took forever to make lol but yes, I think we might have to expand the old CT Transport Fleet a little more in 2024 lol. Lovely resto nick know exactly what you say about the doors I personally don't like opening doors on a model they never fit to make doors look better leave them open pal works everytime happy Christmas and new year🎉

Thank you Nigel, yes, the doors nearly always cause problems sometimes bonnets or boot lids too when it comes to opening them, it often chips the paint, I guess the original paint was thinner and baked on so it wasn’t so much of a problem when the models were new, the doors on these dinky Ford d trucks never seem to fit well🤦🏻‍♂☹ You and your Family have a Happy New Year, all the best, Nick🐸🐸
