As a tribute to the Vlchek Tool Company I restored one of his 11” Auto wrenches. These wrenches were mostly found in Auto Tool Kits of early automobiles.

Beautiful, no longer a utility tool, now a work of art. Love your videos and a HUGE thumbs up.

Hello Tony! You know I spent twenty years as a Scoutmaster and as part of my training curriculum I would bring hand tools down to the meetings and let the scouts build birdhouses, tighten bolts or use a hacksaw... I always wanted there first taste of tools to be an indelible memory that might spark a lifetime of interest in this great hobby! Thanks very much! 😃👍

Hello guardduck25 ! Yes! You probably have the 9" model!! These are fantastic little wrenches! They were a little malleable so we're susceptible to bending but the good brands like Crescent or Diamond were hardened... I love the feel of them! Thanks very much!

Really great looking wrench now. I do like how you show which paints, cleaners, and other products you use in your videos. It will make it easier for people to refurbish their tools if they know the correct products to use.

I'm going to look for a similar wrench. Good tips in the video. The tool looks killer.

Hello Felix! These wrenches are awesome! They usually come in 9 and 11 inches, if you get the 9 inch wrench the thumb knurl isn't removable so you have to leave the wrench together during restoration! Thanks!

Ive used a wire wheel on an old Williams ratchet and it left "scrape" marks from the wire . What should i do to prevent that? Can you please do a more indepth vid on on tool restoration/cleaning in regards to types of wire wheels, sanding grits, etc.?
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 6 лет назад
Hello Mike- The problem with some older tools like your Williams Ratchet is the steel was great but the plating was venerable. Some chrome and nickel plate would get very scratched by a steel wire brush. If there isn’t too much rust with chrome like your ratchet, I like a non steel SOS pad or a scotchbrite pad. I’ll try to introduce other methods in future videos! Thanks very much! 😃👍

Scoutcrafter you did an outstanding job on that VLCHECK auto wrench. I just picked up a tool box for $20 that was loaded with alot of old wrenches and sockets. One of the wrenches was a VLCHECK #19727 off set box wrench which I've never seen before because it is round, not flat like most wrenches. Do you know how old it may be? I appreciate your help.

Beautiful! Can you add shellac over the painted metal as a sealer?
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 6 лет назад
Hello Christopher, Paint is nothing more then clear coat with pigment, so paint normally is sealer enough. You sometimes can Shellac over paint but the paint has to be fully cured and don’t apply too much Shellac or over-brush. Most times you are safest by spraying a clear-coat of the same brand as the paint you are covering. I have had good luck with that method when trying to cover stickers or decals on paint. Hope that helps! 😃👍

I have a vlchek 15 auto wrench and the adjusting "wheel" is jammed. I tried to remove the screw from the jar but it only goes so far and jams. I've soaked it with WD40 but no luck and I don't want to strip the slot. Any thoughts?

The Super-wrench Garage - Hi Matt, This Wrench will be delegated to my indoor toolbox so no additional protection needed in my climate controlled home however if any wrench is in a garage or the trunk of a car I would add some extra protection ranging from wax to clear coat. Those lucky guys in Arizona or California don’t have to worry too much but here in NY everything rusts in my garage! THANKS! 😃👍

Hey Scoutcrafter! I got a Vlchek 11" wrench as a gift from a friend and immediately thought - hey, I bet Scoutcrafter has done one of these. And sure enough! More than one, even! Anyway, I did my very first wrench resto with you as my inspiration. Been loving your channel for a while: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nqMlslrWLyE.html

I know what you're going to say " again with this kid"haha , but I also wanted to ask about the kinds of buffing compound that you use and the proper steps. By that I mean, is it correct to sand then buff then sand higher and buff with another color and move up the grits and the colors? Or is it moving up all the grits while sanding, and then hit it with the black ,red, and green compound. I like to mirror finish items I put on display that's why I go as high as green.
