Very nice casting and it came out very well. Looking forward to the Dinky Royal Mail van that I caught sight of on your workbench. That is one of my favourites.
Thanks Derrick glad you liked it. The post office van will be early next year now because I have all December's builds marked out . All the best martin
Hi mike I saw one on Google images when I was researching mine, thay look better with the windows in I must admit. I bet that mad a nice camper. All the best martin
That was some fine work on a unique casting, Martin. Thanks for talking us through the decal process as you did. Beautiful finish. You can be proud of this one. Thumbs up from Switzerland - Andrew 👍
Nice little model to start with Martin and really good end result! The red and green pops and gives the model a new lease of life in modern times. Thanks again Martin for a fine video.Stay safe and I'll see you soon! 😄👍🚗👌
Hello Martin great restoration as always my kind of model like the old Vans Nice and simple looks great after restoration like new . Hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
That 911 in the background is looking ripe for a paint job Martin..As always, an enjoyable watch, hopefully the local swap meets will start soon in the new year, I am desperately in need of some castings to restore..Stay safe and take care..
Hi mr P the 911 is a new arrival the paint work is awful on it , thinking of changing the colour can't make my mind up. Shame about your lorry kit being that bad . All the best martin
HI Martin this was perfect, nice colour, nice decals and just the right amount of detail. We hope that plough comes up soon, it looks a real beast. Somebody tell Stanley "its not a boxer". All the best from Ian & family.
Cheers Ian much appreciated as always, the snow plough is going to be a good one it has a broken and missing peice that holds it up and iam working out how best to dismantle it 👍. 2 of the best colours to paint as well ( not ). All the best Martin 👍
What a handsome old van Martin. I don't think I've ever seen one of these. At the start, I really thought it had been over-painted - badly. 😁 Is it not fairly unusual for these to need masking at the factory? I thought they(usually) only used different colours on separate components. The choice of colours was down to Shell/BP, so we can't really blame Dinky, or you, for that rather weird livery. 😁 The decals made a difference, kind of breaking-up the red. What a transformation though, great job. 👌👍😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
Hi Dougie, thanks for that much appreciated, dinktoys very often painted 2 tones on there castings mainly to make them more attractive as a toy and also to look like like the real vehicle The masking was done by way of a cap of sorts that fitted over the top in some case or a shield type stencil held up to the castings by operators and spayed on with very early versions of an air brush especially on the front grills and lights . Thanks for watching and thanks again for your support my friend 👍
Great work again Martin. Excellent two tone and detailing. I've often wondered how they did two tone colours in the factory, to be able to make so many. They must have masked them up somehow. Take care, Jeff
Cheers Jeff , yes thay used a couple of different types of masks ones that fitted over the top lake a hat for the two tonnes and a shield type for the front grill lights and bumper the workers normally women sprayed them with a very early type air brush. It's an interesting process common in a lot of toy manufacturing back then .
CAPITALS DUE TO LOSING SIGHT AND REDUCED COGNITIVE ABILITIES. LOVELY RESTORATION. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE BACK HAD ONLY ONE LAMP NEXT TO THE NUMBER PLATE? THANKS MICHAEL
@@martindaredare I already did. Was a custom mod. Used the decals for the Dinky Morris J, cut the ER off & stuck those on the doors. Wasnt enough room on the side panel otherwise
Thanks very much , Iam interested in the work on the bigger scales thinking of doing some 1/18 cars so your channel will be helpfull All the best martin Thanks for the sub its much appreciated
Sweet! How long are you waiting between paint colours? I seem to be having all sorts of problems with varnishes and so on... and when to mask and peel.
Hi Fraser iam using acrylic rattle cans l do a light coat leave for 20 minutes then a final coat and leave for 24hrs to harden off ,then the masking tamya is the best tape sometimes I use a piece of glass to lay the tape on then remove it it takes some of the sticky off it ,then after painting i remove the tape after 15min or when the paint is just on the turn . I don't always get it right every time not a lot of people do if there honest. Hope this helps in some way ,with the clear coat rattle can again I do the same a light coat first then I leave it a bit longer before the wet coat .the light coat is important especially on 2 tones it seals the2 colours at the join if you go to heavy the 2 colours will bleed in together. All the best Martin 👍
Hi Brian good to hear your joining us,. Code 3 basically means alterations to the casting ,different wheels and paint colours that we're not on the original model. All the best Martin 👍
