shows how good of an enclosure they are in if they require such little power to produce the amount of bass they did. That amp is capable of 300 watts on each channel, he just didn't turn them up much is all.
he glue em shut? the way to tell if they are floating properly is to reverse the polarity, one way will push the cone all the way out, the other way will suck the cone all the way in.. which way do you want your cone in or out when polarized? in, cuz when volume hits it pushes the air out, that's how you tell if you have the polarity correct, FUGG red and black, connect them so that the cone is sucked down when polarized, no volume of course, on and polarized, if it pushes the cone out, then you have it backwards, which he very well may have here? switch em around see whats what.. if it doesn't move at all you glued em shut or the cone is too tight on the coil you're welcome
maybe he hasnt assambled the voicecoil right, and now the polarity is swapped so if he plays music the speaker goes inwards instead of going outwards so its not working properly
And the stuff they find on street isn't worth restoring to begin with. They do a crappy job restoring the stuff too. Why wouldn't you just recone the speaker? A recone kit includes the voice coil, and spider already preapplied. Saves you alot of trouble and the glue job is way better than the asian boi did. He removes all the magnets to clean them, which was unnecessary, but then he doesn't even clean the voice coil vents. Also that cabinet finish job is sooo terrible. If you're gonna bother fixing these crappy particle board cabinets, you need to kit and sand this way better, otherwise it looks like crap.
When refinishing the cabinet, try truck bed liner. I've coated many with it and it works great. I put a base coat of just good black paint then the truck bed paint.
what is that you put on 14:14 its not part of the old speaker right? I'm curious on what is the purpose of that and what is it called? I'm looking for videos that may help me in restoring my own old speaker
Its a Hifi crossover, and in Philippines, its called "Dividing Network".Its normally put in japanese studio speakers like this,In china, its just an coil and inline caps.
At 2:40 you can see that the speaker frame has a dent on the right side which means, at one point, the speaker was dropped. How did you get the dent out and make sure the speaker frame was not warped? You did not show it in the video.
