Lots of work and also well done, thumbs up! But: tweeters have been damaged, dented domes will never sound as they should. The original woofers and mids have foam suspensions; the rubber ones change the parameters of the speakers, which will not sound as they should. The mids have damaged paper cones, they can never sound right. The MDF cabinet has a different sound behavior than the original chipboard, better probably, but different from the original. In any case, these speakers were entry level quality, almost not Hi-Fi, not worth devoting so much work to them, in my opinion. Anyway, great video, beautiful work!
These are nice speakers. I has two pairs pioneer cs-539. And a pair cs-549. Deadly speakers ! Pioneer is #1. As far as I'm concerned. You did awesome job rebuilding these pioneer s-100 speakers
Just a couple tips, but btw, I liked this! First try to use speaker caulk or gasket for mounting all the drivers which helps prevent air leaks. Secondly you should either paint or blue the screws. Just look up blueing liquid.
the speakers are repaired /restored but the wood case/ box/ baffles are new, did excellent job there if you have all the tools and skills for the woodwork craftmanships..
Nice restorations. Each time I see restorations like this, I am shocked to see that the original wood was only two steps away from being nothing but lose saw dust. Anyhow, my home made 44 year old speakers are still gong strong. I did have to eventually replace the outer foam rings on the 15 inch woofers. The rest, which is 2 mid-range drivers and 4 tweeters per speaker, have held up over all of these years.
Where did the Replacement Parts come from? Like: New Pioneer Badges; Grill for Tweeter; wood grain vinyl ?? Ironic that you did not clean up screws (holding speakers) which still had corrosion (brown rust) !!
Is this a restoration or a rebuild?? While the quality of the cabinets is outstanding and very attractive, the cones leave no doubt the aging of the speakers overall. However, the cones and baskets are almost the only original parts left. I guess it's left up for debate amongst restorers/rebuilders...but I was hoping for repair of the cabinets and reusing more of the original. I get that the cabs were done...but that would (for me) cross the line into rebuilding. All that aside...really nice result.
They were DESIGNED that way from the factory. Any decent pioneer driver from the 70's is going to look like that regardless. Re-coning them will completely change their T/S parameters for the enclosure they need, and will completely destroy the resale value these iconic vintage pioneer speakers have. Originality is key...except for the crossovers.
This is a very nice one. When you finish it will sound like the birds in your background. Even your dog is inspecting the work. 😊🐕. I love your work because you are interested in getting it right. Very nice 1000 plus thumbs up. Quality
parabens! obrigado por compartir o seu trabalho. !
OBVIOUSLY....You do NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between RESTORATION or REPLACEMENT!! Those JUNK cabinets were NOT RESTORED, way beyond that capability, they were REPLACED!! ONLY RESTORATION was foams of woofers, and some small hardware and paint.
I saw a lot of your videos, but i wonder why you use the glue like that... when Contact glue is used u must to wait some minutes for better results... when more time more effective will be
