I bought this Gold Wing about a week ago and got it serviced with all fluids changed and all brakes rebuilt.
It was someone's daily commuter so it was mechanically in good shape when I found it. It has an aftermarket seat, front and rear fenders and lights. Looks like a full-options GL1100 converted to naked.
It's a joy to ride and that engine sounds glorious. All stock.

I've had a lot of smaller bikes so it was amazing when I took out the GL1100 on the highway, a big truck drove by and It did not blow me around. I couldn't believe it.

Just bought a 1982 interstate with a blown head gasket for $500. 68,000 miles. Just got everything back together. Gotta add oil and antifreeze.. CANT WAIT...

I bought one in 1981, I was asked to race a police pursuit vehicle ( a Jaguar XJ12) on the M6 took it to 130mph and then the jag was floored, I thought I had stopped. a beautiful cruising machine, had it for three years, one of the first batch to be built in the U.S.

I'm currently in the process of taking my driver's license on an '82 GL 1100. Incredibly beautiful bikes to drive. The ride quality is like nothing I've ever driven before.

Love mine I'm 6'1" GL1100 is small for my liking. Little awkward getting feet out of the small area at first. It will rattle ya above 80 few tweaks your good to go. It's made to put along not race on the road.

I held mine maxed out for 3 minutes, at 7800 RPMS, these old goldwings are made TOUGH, at a max speed of 125MPH, All there in need of is a 6th gear, if they had one there would be no need for a crotch rocket. Great video, Nice bike

I had a 78 GL 1000 for a few years, but sold it. I would like to get a 75 and have it resto-modded with upgraded brakes, suspension,and charging system. Otherwise keeping the stock look - sulphur yellow with bright green guage faces.

I must have aftermarket guages cause my Honda Gl 1000 has a green speedometer that ends on 240 but I still haven't got to drive it yet to see if it'll get to that prob take it to a drag strip to check

Certain years right around the 80s in the us the law limited speedos and made them put a mark at 55mph, roughly 90kmh. Seeing as it's in Dubai they probably imported that used from the US at some point in the past.

I did this on my old GL500 once. And the damn speedometer broke. Stretched the spring out. So needle just bounced all crazy after that, until I replaced it.

Pro tip from someone with a muscle car that has an 85mph speedo, remove the peg and it should be fine

nice smooth ride. You need a 140 mph speedo, the way that stock one pegged in 4th gear.

Motorcycle UAE A speedometer for an 83 goes to 140, fits and looks identical. Why earlier ones were less I dont know. I have an 83 so i know its speedo does 140, i still have it on the shelf. I took all this bikes guages off to make it a custom though and have a bicycle speedo just to be legal.

It was because of a stupid law in the USA after a big gas shortage back then, the idea was to encourage people to drive slower to save gas. It made no sense then either.

+Plaryplatirpusestingson Kingston The 9th It should be with over 80 bhp. This bike doesn't have any of the extra gear on it either so that contributes a lot to its speed and acceleration.

@@RanGer-498 This is pure math. Look at the tachometer and speedometer. Speeds of 80mph correspond exactly to 6000 revolutions. Next, the speedometer stops, and the tachometer goes up to 7500, which corresponds in proportion to 100mph.

@@RanGer-498 There is a little pin in the speedometer at 85MPH, so you won't break it going too fast. Anything over 85MPH, you have to guess, or calculate.

Why didn't you put a phone on it with a GPS app so we can actually see the speed? It's clear the bike goes over the speed of the speedometer so the whole video the whole purpose of the video is defeated.
