Restored Mamod Steam Engine Test Run. At last, the paint was hard enough for a test run of the Mamod Stationry steam engine so will it work after all these years?

It runs quite slow, take a look at the safety valve gaskets and replace them!

They were all replaced as new, to be honest. However, I did not oversteam it as this was the first time it had run in 45+ years so that's why it was maybe a bit slow plus the new washer I put on top of the safety valve just broke! But amazing a toy you had when you were 10 and now I am 64 still works well-built toys for sure with a bit of cleaning up. Thanks for your super comment. Kev.

I don't think everyone knows how much time it takes to make these videos, but there's certainly a whole community out there who appreciates them. Keep up the good work, and take care!

Excuse me for asking, I have a concept idea about making a steamer boat and I was thinking of using the me3 for the main propulsion of the boat and use 2 of these stationary engines for turning the boat with paddle wheels. But is there a way to control the direction of the fly wheel? Also is there a way to hook up a paddle wheel to the fly wheel since I will have 2 paddle wheels, one on each side for the stationary engines to power??

@BramleyProductions 7 месяцев назад
This might work but I am no expert with the leaver on this model you can make the flywheel go forwards and backwards so yes you can do that! Sorry, you lost me on the paddle wheel question! I would not have a clue about that. This sounds like a fun project I hope it goes well for you thanks for the comment. Kev.

Basically my paddle wheel question is, is there a way to connect an axle to the fly wheel on one end or do I need to use a separate pulley?
@BramleyProductions
@BramleyProductions 7 месяцев назад
@@bethmotgomery2662 I think the pully Would work well you might even be able to adapt the flywheel to connect an axle! But sure you can connect a pully no problem with that I do know Kev.

Oh that's great! Also I have finalized my concept of instead of making 1 boat with 3 engines, I thought of making 2 boats, A side wheeler steam tug With the twin stationary engines and a smaller steamer boat that is powered by the me3. to rescue with the tug when out of fuel.
