This time on SPPTV we look at Removing and Restoring the Instrument Panel and guages from Ol Yeller, Mike's 1977 Chevrolet C10 Truck. Again we are working in the freezing cold of a Manitoba winter, so simple things can become painful. And we are limited on what we can work on. The weather man said it was going to be terrible weather all weekend, so an inside the truck/garage project like fixing up the instrument panel fit great.

I’ve got a 1976 Chevy Itasca Winnebago and the instrument cluster went haywire when I got my alternator replaced. It’s on a Chevy p30 chasis. Do you take orders for repairs?

I've got the same truck basically. Same color too but it's a 73. This video was insanely helpful. Thing sat in my buddy's back yard for 8 years so instrument panel was a mess. Now it's clear and working 👌 thank you for the tips

If need be see if you can get some of these parts from LMC or some other company that sells parts for trucks like ours. Also not sure how true it is, but if you ever find that your instrument panel lamps don't work check and make sure you don't have a blown parking lamp bulb in the tail lights. Hopefully that's why mine don't work in my 85 C30 dually.

Hello guys, my friend tells me that, the gauge lens retainer from 73 to 80 is metal, and after the 81 model, it comes with plastic. Is this true? If that true how we find it. Thanks...

I have a 1978 K30 4x4 that s the same lemon color. It truly is a lemon so I'll assuming that's why the previous owner painted it yellow. Pretty soon the crappy transmission and crappy np203 are going to get ousted for a 4l80e and a twin stick np205. Also, looking to dump the weak ass waller'ed out 350 for a 6 liter LS.

It says right in the owners manual to clean the instrument cluster once every 30 - 40 years whether it’s needed or not. Congratulations for getting it done! You are getting caught up! “UV” light plays hell with everything, even the dash pad. Grind down the high spots, fill in the low spots, then get some nice brown leather, pattern a French seam down the middle, left to right and use “Weldwood” contact cement and wrap you dash. The use a 140 white thread for contrast. Get-er-done! P.S. Fords Owners manual maintenance stops at 6 years, then blank! ASE Master since 1978

Yea they do but they are glued onto the arms AND the arms usually have a double serrated tooth on each side as well. If you can get away with leaving them on, best thing to do is leave them alone, it's not hard to bend up the arms or screw up the pivot hardware.

Mine looked just as bad, Florida 78 serious sun damage. Started with 320, then 600, then 1000, 3000. then buffed out with a mild polish. Mine look new. The blue on the back is a special reflective. Clean it well to get brighter illumination.
