What a great job by yourself Stace, your patience for the fiddly bits is fantastic, hope i can have the same patience. The steering column looks great, like brand new. Looking forward to seeing more. Keep up the great work.
Thanks mate. It was satisfying seeing it come up so nice. I think it's probably less about patience and more about flowing without pressure or expectation... just enjoying it.
I think, from our HQ manual, there are some slight differences, but I think most of the stuff I did is pretty similar. In any case, I figured it out as I went along and no doubt you could too with your HQ Statesman. If you don't have a manual and need a pic of something let me know.
Cool thanks, I'll re watch when it comes time to do my one. I've actually had to put parts back on my car to re film something that I needed but I wear overalls so the wardrobe stays the same!
Next time you want to remove paint I use a Nylon red abrasive wheel brush easily goes in to drill strip's paint and rust easy and doesn't hurt any types of metals underneath. Get them from supercheap or bunnings. Highly recommended
I will look for that, thanks... We have similar for our dremel but tiny obviously, and it doesn't last long. Perhaps for a drill they'll be better. Will be a good option for the outside firewall maybe...
@staceonwheels yes these last for ages I think I used about 2 to do all under the HQ I'm doing up. There are a little slow in real heavy rust and paint but I love them. No metal needles flying off sticking in you everywhere.
Well done Stace, The steering column looks ‘ new old stock’. I must admit, even though I’ve completely stripped and rebuilt everything on cars, I’ve never stripped a steering column. Thanks for sharing that as I’m sure no-one else has ever done a video on one Mouse
