The masons are not adding to the tower, they are just replacing the damaged bricks at the top. The tower is around 40ft tall. Thank you for your interest.
Whatever happened to the idea of rebuilding the entire top section of the tower, back to its original form, size, and like-new condition? You're already reconstructing using authentic bricks and mortar, so why not go that extra step, and put the tower back to like-new condition? Why only stabilize an archaeological ruin? If the current condition and stability of the tower walls will permit it, why stop halfway? Why not complete the job? (I'm a direct descendant of several "Ancient Planter" Jamestown Colonists, so I feel I have some grounds for asking this.)
