I bought this vise in an estate auction auction a few weeks back and decided to refurbish it and install it on my new work table. This is a really nice heavy woodworking vise, all it needed was some light repair and a set of hardwood jaws and now its ready resume its purpose. I really like the quick release for fast opening and also how wide it is, 10 inches!

Thank you for posting this very helpful video. I’m refurbishing a Morgan 200A woodworking vise which is not the same as yours but sufficiently similar to provide some very helpful tips on disassembly. I appreciated the close-up shots of the detail work, too.

Great resto. Bringing that carpenter vise back from the dead. NICE!

This was beautiful and fun to watch. Some previous owner in the past used it as an anvil as well it seems.

Really nice video. Wondering about mounting the vise higher with the wood pads flush so you can use the dog. It’s cool how you really took it all the way down to bring it back to life. Thanks! D

On mine I have a steel bar that slips right over the dog for that very purpose. Because I prefer my wood pads to overlap the steel.

nice vise restoration! what is that locking pipe wrench style wrench you using during disassembly? I need to add that to my toolbox
@GreenridgeMetalWorks
@GreenridgeMetalWorks Год назад
I got that wrench in an auction lot. It's from the 40's if I remember correctly. I use it a lot. That's a design they should have kept making. Thanks for watching!

Nice work on the restoration. Please tighten the bench down to the floor. Too much play trying to cut wood at end of video. Keep on making skilled videos. 👏

Wonderfull vise. The bronze hammer is because you work in a petrol plan?
@GreenridgeMetalWorks

Your right, it's a non spark hammer but I found it at an auction. I just thought it was neat. Thanks for watching!

What's that 'do-hicky' in the center used for? Looks like a built-in 'dog' ?
@GreenridgeMetalWorks
@GreenridgeMetalWorks Год назад
I'm pretty sure that's all it is. It would be used along with another dog or peg on the table.

How weird: the handle looks like it was bashed together from pipe and leftovers, but the rest of the design is really nice. Strange choices, Yost. Great restoration job, though.

What brand of penetrating oil were you using? Great job on cleaning it up and making it work for you in your shop.

We mainly use LPS KB88. Seems to me it works better than the rest.

It was hard wood. I think it's Post Oak. Thanks for watching 😊
