I once had a situation where the game disc wouldn’t open up, so I had to find a tutorial, and it was easy, you just grab a paper clip, you’ll see a very small hole between the power button & controller 2 to plug in.

Surprisingly the fan was really clean 🤔🤣

didnt even replace the thermal paste

i had an xbox close to this condition my brother got it for me on ebay for christmas of 2020 and when i went to look around it i can see tons of huge dust bunnies so when i opened it holy crap was it bad luckily the caps were fine everything looked good it was 1 1.3 revision so i had to remove the clock cap i was lucky though it was just starting to leak so i cleaned it up and the console looked good as new one tiny minor thing is the tray open and closes on its own once or so but its not an annoyance since it doesnt happen when i have a game in it

With the revision 1.6 boards, i would recommend replacing the capacitors near the power supply, as those often fail/leak. And, as others have said, new thermal paste after thoroughly cleaning off the old crap.

I’m thinking about getting the original Xbox.

I think you are supposed to clean the belt on the disk drive with isopropyl alcohol.

Good job with the sanding of the top cover. Also, grease would've been better instead of oil inside the ODD, for the tray mechanism. And also, not replacing the thermal paste for the CPU? 😒 I give it a 7/10...

I have a question, did you clean the old thermal paste off of the GPU and CPU? maybe you did but the clip was not included in the final edit of your video, if you didn't I'm wondering why you went all the way opening and disassembling the console and didn't take that very important step, this console is 20+ years old so the thermal paste on these components NEEDS to be replaced! I would recommend you go back in the console and put some new thermal paste on the GPU and CPU. great video otherwise

I have a o g microsoft xbox console i cleaned the top and bottom of the system shell the front faceplate where the controllers plug in also clean the controller ports the cooling fans the heat sinks the motherboard the dvd drive tray gears and belt remove old thermal paste and reapply new fresh thermal paste on the central processing unit and graphics processing unit most importantly if its a 1.0 through 1.5 remove the clock capacitor its how i cleaned fixed inspected refurbished repaired restored reapplied new thermal paste on the central processing unit and graphics processing unit and my o g microsoft xbox o g microsoft xbox 360 and o g nintendo game cube o g sega genesis and o g game gear works excellent there was 4 brands of dvd drive the o g microsoft xbox used the worst is those Thomson drives they always give the dirty or damaged disc error the best reliable drives is the philips samsung and hitachi three brands of power supply unit fox link delta electronics and mineba and 2 brands of ide 40 hard disc drives 8 gigabyte western digital seagate and 10 gigabyte western digital and sea gate in addition if the og microsoft xbox is modded with a mod chip its random access memory upgraded to 128 gigabytes it can play those arcade games most importantly for best results use a 2 terabyte sata hard disc drive and 80 wire ide cable
