This is EXACTLY what I needed and WAAAAY better than the any of the vendor's videos on same which btw start out with the speaker already removed and on the "work bench". And that latter part was what I needed. Thank you and thank you RU-vid which has been great for a ton of my DIY stuff.
Funny.- I just searched, and found this video, looking for a tutorial for a pair of Advent Baby IIs I'm refoaming. These look like the Advent Heritage speakers a friend I know once had, back in the day.
I have these speakers and I replaced the foam surrounds the next thing to do is replace are the caps in the crossover network with good quality capacitors.
Robert Alcorta I have similar ones possible a Lil newer but they are black finish and I've redone my tweeter and cones and that's a beast for what I paid it's the best sound I could've ever gotten
I *desperately* need to refurbish my kickass speakers (I'm not good that this sort of thing). They are part of an original Sharp home entertainment system (1990s) and it's going to be heartbreaking if I have to trash them. They have 2x10" subs each, mid and tweeters. I'm looking for someone experienced in refurbishing speakers to set me free. I seems I've fixed the shorting issue by replacing the speaking wire (that was good) with crazy gauged speaker wire. They need foam surrounds as cats have killed them (one just put a hole in one, but subsequently, another cat fell off and used the foam to catch her fall and killed it) and the need new boxes, as these are just worn out, as you can imagine this many years on. The speakers themselves are a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Any takers? Prefer someone in Canada, but not exclusive.
I just bought a pair of epicure model 1s all the foams need to be replaced. I got them for 50.00 did i over pay and would it be worth fixing all 4 surrounds on eaxh speaker?
@@suedoevideo ok cool. Have you heard the speakers at all. I have a jbl studio center 8 ohms, 4 infinity rs2000s for surrounds 6 ohms each and i was going to use the epicures for the fronts there 6 ohms also. I have an svs sb2000 12" powered sub all hooked to an onkyo tx nr818 reciever. I dont know a hole lot about surround sounds i know i can hook up 2 more speakers for 9.1 surround and i can get a pair of infinity rs3000. So you think all this can blend together nicely? Sorry for taking up your time.
Buy $ 170 new Klipsh THX computer speakers, or spend $ 30 to do this... I did this, & have another cone to redo this for ten years later... a really wise move.
+trailerpark187 , Yep you are correct, not long after I made the video, I had to take the table out to the garage and wet sand it and put a new coat of Minwax polyurethane clear, looks great and the wife was happy! Thanks for watching!
I looked at that and it did sound like it was binding, but I was tapping the speaker cone on one side and that was twisting and slightly rubbing on the coil post. If you take two hands and push straight in , there is full travel and clearance.
I do see what you are talking about, it's a discoloration from wiping it with Alcohol , but I don't believe I damaged it. It's working and sounding great as I type!
