Welcome to part 7 of my series on Restoring my 2000 Bayliner capri.
It has been a long and bumpy road getting this boat Sea ready, but I am persistant and will get her in the water soon. Please take a few minutes of your day, sit back and watch as I continue the progress toward making a Relic finding boat for myself and my hunt buds.

Your should replace the outdrive Bellows every 2 years or every season depending on use. if that tears you'll be taking on a lot of water quickly ;) The drive bearing should be checked at that tome too and replaced if needed. Somehow I get the feeling yours bellows are original. There is one on the exhaust and the drive shaft, the drive shaft one is more critical, but id change all of them

Thanks for the advice. If you saw my last video, the engine had hydrolocked. Instead of trying to fix it, I sold it to a young man who said he could fix it. It was hard to let her go after so much time and money was put into it. Thanks again.

Pressure wash it instead of sanding or even a car wash spray nozzle.

Ooooo one more question! It’s off topic. What’s a good metal detector for a beginner. My sons were asking me to get one and I think you’d probably know what direction to steer me in.

You can start with a low price bounty hunter to make sure they are really interested in the hobby. If they are you can upgrade to a mid priced machine like a Garrett ace 400 or AT Pro.

hey John, try some rubbing compound on an orbital polisher and see if that takes the mold and mildew off the hull. also, name the boat " Sea Hunter "

I see the 2018 sticker. Mine was a 2012 sticker lol. I just got the new stickers last week. I had to pay 1,500 dollars in past due luxury tax on my Bayliner like yours. I didn’t even realize you have to pay frikken luxury tax on a 19 foot boat. It’s not a Luxury liner for Christ sake, it’s a 19 foot family boat. But they wouldn’t let me register it until that was paid. Little bastards gotta have their grubby little fingers in everything, including my 19 foot boat.

Not seeing a part 6 where you possibly covered this but at 5:04 on the side of the hull, where it is curved fiberglass, what material did you use for the flooring to make it even? Thanks!
@DIGOLOGIST
@DIGOLOGIST 2 года назад
I had got some airplane wing fiberglass from a friend for free. Its thin and I just pieced it along the wood before covering it with resin. Its not the most professional job, but I was only trying to make the wood waterproof. Look at the video where I painted the deck with non slip boat paint. Thanks for watching.
@isaiahmiller203
@isaiahmiller203 2 года назад
@@DIGOLOGIST thanks! Thinking on mine I might just take a angle grinder with a disc that carves wood and try to blend the top side of the hull into the plywood, then lay down a inch adhesive foam flooring on everything, hopefully it’s not to uneven. These seat frames are a pain in the a** lol!

Coosa Board. Boaters swear by it. I went the less costly way because the boat is so old and I laid down fiberglass.

Were any of the stringers rotted?
@DIGOLOGIST

I replaced a couple small pieces of wood under there and rebuilt the box for the storage hatch. It was in bad shape.

Did you use treated plywood on the decking ?
@DIGOLOGIST
@DIGOLOGIST 3 года назад
No I used untreated. But I sealed the top with a coat of fiberglass resin then put down fiberglass and resin again.
@SuperDcopeland
@SuperDcopeland 3 года назад
@@DIGOLOGIST I’m going thru a very similar process with my 93 maxum. I applied resin to some treated 1/2 in plywood and the resin doesn’t seem to take well to it. It has dry spots in it. Maybe not enough resin?
@DIGOLOGIST
@DIGOLOGIST 3 года назад
@@SuperDcopeland The chemicals used to pressure treat the plywood could be the problem. Sometimes the wood is still damp when you buy it and that too could cause a problem. Let me know how it turns out. I will have the final Bayliner video up tonight. please take a look and like and subscribe. Thanks.

@@DIGOLOGIST I figured out that I need to use poly resin. Was using epoxy and it seems to be harder to work with. Did you use poly or epoxy on your decking? And how did you protect the untreated wood on the back ?
