I don't usually comment but it's always a pleasure watching your videos and how you respond so positively to all the comments you receive. Will continue to keep watching!
I love you Dahm. Ong dude. I got a new job at a custom shop and my first order of business was taking apart a continental for paint. Could not find any info at all and I click on a random RU-vid video and it’s you
I'm a 14 year old and my dream car is a 1972 datsun 240z it all started when I was five and there was an old one behind our barn and during winters I would hang out on the roof and sit inside it when the bees weren't active and over the years I pulled it out of the wood took the motor out and it still sits on a motor stand because someday I'm going to rebuild the motor and I took a bunch of other parts off of it before a freind of mine and me cut it up and shipped it off now all I have are parts and the motor transmission and the steering column when you talk about how long you have wanted this car it gives me hope that someday I can have my dream 1972 datsun 240z with an L28 thanks :-)
I love these so much! I basically get to see someone restore my car the way I wish I could of, and it's by my favorite car enthusiast on RU-vid! Keep them coming man!
I know exactly what you mean, I haven't touched my project in about 10 years, but I follow people rebuilding theirs on instagram and youtube. I'd consider myself a looser if I didn't have a beautiful wife and son.
Nice! I'm working on internal stuff on my 66 mustang this way (though not as dramatic... yet). It is a lot of fun to just tear it apart, and so rewarding when it goes back together! Good luck with the restoration.
I know you're already enjoying restoring this car but trust me it's so much fun! I've had the pleasure to build 2 classic cars in my 19 years of living- a 1972 el camino and a '68 Firebird. Loved those cars but i eventually had to buy a newer car for college. I hope to build a 3rd classic soon and join you in the process! Best of luck with the money pit (:
Yo Rob, think you can make these longer with more detail about what you're going to do. I like watching people builds & I figure watching yours would be fun because of the way you are. Lol
Wow Rob can't wait to see this beast when it's done! Someday when I'm older I'd love to restore a car like this!! what's your estimate on how long it'll take to finish it?
There are things I probably will not understand. One of them is: how can you find removing rust fun? I did it to my cars only when I had to, in the past. Now I am taking my car to a garage for this purpose. I love cars, I even graduated from a "high school" that tought me car mechanics and I am not lazy (overworked actually) but instead of spending my time in a garage fighting rust I would go out see nature like forest, beach etc. I work in IT as you, in my small company. Too much of computer. Felt like sharing it :)
Hey Rob I need your advice. I am 16, I have a job, I have my license and I am literally not buying any game, any clothes, any jewelry or anything to buy a rally blue 2004-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. And to find one in good condition/low miles/unmodified, it would be around 20 grand - 30 grand. And I did the math, it would take me 2-3 years of saving up to get one. It would be a torturous journey. Do you have any suggestions to 20 - 30 grand faster? Thanks! -Fellow Michigander
the 1966's don't have many vinyl tops , those tops sure cause a lot a rust, even in non rust belt areas of the country. I remember my parents kept their 69 Buick Electra for years, and it got rust around the back window under the vinyl top and this car spent its whole life in California
Rob, you are my idol! You have kept me strong in hard times, I wish to one day shake your hand! btw, 67 Lincoln is great, you gonna keep the 462 in it?
in my opinion this is what being a "car guy" is all about. digging in making your car be what you want it to be. a car is an important tool in this modern age, so why not take pride in it? make your car truely yours, be it restored to its original glory or modding it out to match that crazy ass dream you had a few nights ago or match that bad ass design on forza. being a car person means enjoying cars YOUR OWN way no matter what other peoples opinions are. as long as YOU enjoy YOUR car (and arent hurting anyone or putting them in danger, obviously), nothing else should matter, should it?
to extend on this, i dont care for the extreme camber/stretched tires to the point that they barely fit, but that doesnt mean dont do it. if you like it, then do it. if it makes you happy, go for it. if you would rather have a show car over a performance car, make it look sexy. if you wanna go fast, aim for the sound barrier. if it makes you happy, fucking do it. other people are doing what they want and what makes them happy, it is your responsibility to do the same for yourself, because no one else will. you may have the illusion that people will help you, but that can end at any second. take your happiness into your own hands and do what feels good to you.
Have you ever thought of having a vlog, I know you're a busy guy who's handling with his business. But it would be great that if you could have like 2-4 vlog in a week which could inspire some of us to have great job like you.
Rob im 15 almost 16years now and i dont know what am i gonna do havnt decided a career as yes i suck at study all i love to do is learn about cars and play games any suggestion how to buy my dream car a lambo aventador and nissangtr??cause yea im not a nerd gave my social also to play games all day and now i wonder how to
What a colossal undertaking, but oh the satisfaction. 67? Not seeing it. The 63 for shizzle, want it badly, maybe the 64, but 67 I think the styling not up to par, but it is your project, your time.
I think you should clearcoat the roof, over the rust. seal the rust off with something that prevents it from rusting more, and lay a thik and nice clearcoat over it! buff the clearcoat and polish it and it will look so, so mad... the bottom you can fix the rust on and paint white again if you want that.. But I love ''orginal rust'' and patina.. it just looks so freaking cool, mean and nice. some day I want to buy a car with some surface rust and clearcoat it. I'll rust the bonnet on my current car and clearcoat it... just my opinion. whats yours?
That trim is looking pretty decent considering the state of the rest of the car ... would have suggested to take it off BEFORE doing any work on the rust, wouldn't want it's dust to infiltrate/damage/discolour the chrome (I'm a very better safe than sorry type of guy) haha :)
I remember when I repainted my '85 Town Car, that I had to take off all the trim and rear panels. I placed all the screws neatly in seperate boxes. Then a woman who I share my garage with took all the boxes and threw ALL of my screws in one box and never closed it. And then the bloody idiot dropped the open box right above a drain! It was a huge pain in the ass to sort all the screws again and buy new ones to replace the ones lost.
I just did this to my 67, same rust under vinyl, couldnt get emblems off lol. Next is the door trim and continue removing doors. My car was FILLED with ants.
