Sweetheart….I would just make one suggestion…..tie your hair up or wear a ball cap. You really don’t want long hair working around cars ….especially if they’re running. Plus a hat helps keep grease, oil and dirt out as well. Other than that…..fantastic job and video. I commend you for your hard work, dedication and love of cars. Keep those videos coming!
Hello Kats_clas , you are great just like Emelia Hartford you both are Excellent in fixing cars .... I'm happy you painted the oil pan the same color and that is a gorgeous 1967 ford mustang as you are too , keep working on your mustang until it is completely new from the bottom and top of the car ....
Beautifuly shor and edited. Killer ride. Subd ***please add a few big round logs to your shop. Place them under chasis when lifted as additional saftey measure….I’ve seen those jack towers fail many times. D😎🇺🇸🤙
How many time ago, I thought done this work to my Maverick `70, just take off the oil pan, looks so easily with you, but, when I looking back, sudenly do I felt so tired, and falled at sleep, in to the sweet dream...I done. You too loves the classics, The Mustang made that you improve your skills...Thanks for the motivation, some day I do it the same...
Gonna do the same project on my 68 now. The reason I did not want to commit to this task before this video was that I did not want to have to mess with the steering mech. Now that I know that all I have to do is remove the suspension cross member and unbolt the oil pan, it's worth it. Your effort is very inspiring. Good luck with your channel
I'm speechless......................... Oh ya, that's the first FORD video I have ever watched all the through. It was refreshing to see the effort you put into your the car. Something that will help you out immensely working on these old cars is an impact wrench. I use a 20 volt DeWalt because it's worth it's weight in gold in the junk yard too! Also, the 5qt jugs of oil are perfect to refill with your old oil to recycle. Anyway, you have some of the coolest hair I have ever seen! Just a little tip.... If you ever decide to use a creeper PUT YOUR IT UP & OUT OF THE WAY because when it gets caught in the wheels (and it will) your screwed... you wont be able to move an inch any which way until someone is close enough to hear you screaming. Don't ask how I know that. It may or may not have happened to me once or twice? That reminds me, I was very impressed at the way you controlled your temper because anyone who has ever worked on a 50 year old car KNOWS how difficult that can be. Then again, that's why we edit isn't it? ;)
I like that 'never-give-up' attitude! Even as a mechanic, I search RU-vid for ideas and tips before starting a new task, someone has ALWAYS already done it and posted a video with do's and dont's!
Reminded me of my days with my 67, and ironically it was blue. I had to take the oil pan off as well, only it was because my oil pump was toast. Keep up the great work!
Very nice. I have a 1967 mustang as well. You shared some amazing frustrations and techniques that I will learn from. I truly appreciate your video! Thank you.
the sound of this car is something so good to hear! Keep pushing! You are doing a amasing job! It's always incredible to see more girls who enjoy working on her cars! I wish we could have cars like this here, in Brazil.....but...it is what it is.... Count me in as one more subscriber!
I have to say I am very impressed with your work i'm from germany and i've been following you for over half a year i've waited so long for you to upload this video keep it up really very impressive I hope you keep doing this and upload more videos
Wow, since this it the only video on your channel, my expectations were kinda low, but the quality of the content and the editing is very impressive! This reminds me a bit of Emelia Hartford early in her youtube career!
It’s really nice to see you actually enjoying what you’re doing!!! Maybe look into some cordless ratchets or 3/8 impact gun will make life a little easier for you and your journey !!! Great job girl ! Keep it up 😊
Check the waterpump still has all the fins intact that move the water, and thermostat is working/opening in boiling water. Great to see your channel and all the best great video by the way 🤠🕊️🌄🏞️☮️☕
Cool video! For those of us brand new here you should make an intro video about your self and how you got started with mechanics and did you train with anyone or self taught?! Thanks!
I couldn’t find your channel at first. It kept showing everything else but your channel. The first hit was Emeila Hartford’s channel with her newer mustang. Try to put a link to one video in your profile so they find the channel faster.
Great stuff with the wonderful step by step explanation. Here in Singapore, most men don’t even know how to change regular engine oil. Great inspiration.
Great first vid, Kathryn! I'm sure you'll be your own self-critic and figure out ways to make them even better. I remember when I was a uni student and doing part time work at Dunlop I had to sand blast all the brass fittings off a boiler being refurbished. Gotta love the way sand blasting transforms old and cruddy into sparkling new(-ish). Now many years later I might try sand blasting on my face. Or, y'know, not... :)
I am doing the same job right now. Tip: Don't waste the time with a mere *electric* drill. I loosened the bolts on the crossmember--with a breakerbar, and my universal tool: "Mr Snappy." Mr Snappy is a 30 inch galvanized iron pipe...His turn ons are loosening stuck bolts, and anyone who appreciates loosening stuck bolts. It took a few turns-before I could get my Milwaukee M18 Impact Driver-to move either bolt.
The perfect woman does exist! Much respect I thought it was just another beautiful young lady trying to get views it sounds like you know what you’re doing. Good content, I wish my son had as much knowledge or interest in working on cars. Hats off to your mom and dad.
You are my hero! I am sure you have the complete restoration on video some where but I can't find it. If not too much trouble can you show me where that is? Love to see the whole thing done.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m actually still in the process of restoring this car, but you can check out other videos similar to this one on my TikTok page: @kathryn1967
If you're going to be working on stubborn bolts (and also rusty ones), first get some penetrating fluid in there to help. The UK's favourite is WD40 (which stands for Water Displacement 40 as there have been 40 versions of it before this one) It's basically fish oil). Also, look at getting an impact wrench/driver (You can pick up a half-decent 18v cordless that will help you out quite a bit. With doing an oil change, you're 100% right in doing what you've done so far. There is another method which is to drain the oil out using the dipstick and using an oil extractor pump. I would also have a look at an 8 to 10 litre catch can that can be used upright, as well as on the ground. It'll help transport the oil a lot easier. I've done a few oil changes on my own car, as well as a few services. Other than that, keep up the good work. It's great to women doing car maintenance/restoration in a predominantly male-orientated environment.
