Did you look directly on sun or just sun shine?

It sounds like you have solar maculopathy, from looking at the sun. The OCT will be close to normal, but the the foveal retinal thickness will be thin, and there is loss of RPE seen on exam (microscope).

I believe this technology is better positioned for RP than for macular degeneration. The idea is to replace RPE before vision loss and you can justify that for RP. They will run into many cases where the vision does not come back even with perfect surgical result. There is brain neuroplasticity and the brain will "forget" how to see when being without vision for a long time.

Beware, most eye surgeries, procedures & lasers remove your vitreous fluid & replace it with saline. That fluid is essential for your eye. It cannot be replaced without long term problems. It serves to protect your eyes from the sun etc. Once it is removed you are more prone to cataracts, retina probs etc. Saline cannot protect your eye. The vitreous fluid in your eye is not found anywhere else in your body. God put it there for a reason. Eye docs do not understand the true purpose of it & are happy to replace it with saline. Unfortunately, they won't be there to help you once you lose your vision.
