So cool to watch Nick cut the branches but leaves several inches so he can use it like a ladder to climb down. Then when he gets past that area he cuts the branch flush with the tree. It takes a lot of skill and training to do his work. He is a master.
This reminds me of the seven years I spent at Candacraig in Scotland, we restored 40 acres of overgrown woodland gardens, during the winter we would always keep a fire going, wrapped baked potatoes in tinfoil and throw them on the fire. At the end of the day we would have the best baked potato you could ask for, big blob of butter and some cheese and you're set. This is very rewarding work indeed.
Nick is a diamond he sure is a good person to know for a major job that needs to be done. What a difference already. Loved watching Dan. See yer tomorrow😘
Nick is quite the talented tree expert. Love watching him practicing his art. You and Stephanie are lucky to have him involved with your projects. Thanks for sharing and see ya tomorrow 😍😘
I used to love being in the wood's clearing power lines from overgrown trees. The air was so fresh, and the smell with the snow made me sleep well at night.
Do you have water/electricity access? I was wondering about buying or renting a simple caravan and parking it on your property for the next few years while you work on your Chateau rather than $ on Air BnB’s. Love watching Nick do his thing. Great work you two 😅
I love Nick he is amazing skilled man and I so love the view from his camera. Dan I enjoy everything you do all the joy and pleasure you share with the "hard work" you make it seem enjoyable. I have removed the ad blocker, didn't know it was on my lap top,and watch all ads without skipping hoping to increase your income for them. Best wishes for the new year finishing the farm project and keep the motivation to tackle all you have put on your plate. Speaking of plates lol are you planing a first meal you cook at the Chateau yet?
That song you chose certainly fits your relationship with Nick. Sure you have hired him probably to do it, but you guys have worked together for a while and you can tell you have a friendship as well as a working relationship. Nick loves the land as much as you do. To love your work like that is a wonderful thing.
Nick is amazing. Skill, efficiency, a true love of trees. Lifting these old ladies skirts brings lightness and airiness to the Chateau approaches. Just lovely.
We are having a lot of snow today in Canada and you sure got a lot in France. Hopefully, your weather will be more conducive to working at the Chateau and finishing your addition soon. Great you are getting the driveway cleared. That tree man Nick is amazing always. Nice to see you working at the Chateau.
Nick is simply one of the best arborists I have seen at work and I have had one of the very best on my property taking down dangerous gum trees in Australia.
Your Video starts WoW! Right IN there Dan together with Nick the Tree surgeon! What a difference this video to the one yesterday when you where performing as a tightrope walker. Dan, and I think you feel this to, the important thing is, to find pleasure in what your doing, when you're doing it. Bless you !
Another great job. Really interesting the work on the Chateau. A nice caravan or Summerhouse with woodburning stove. Somewhere to live, site office and to cook/make a brew.
Nick's work is lifting the whole property! Those dense massively tall trees pruned and all the low branches removed works miracles for the feeling of upward moving energy, circulating light and views on the ground, will look majestic when spring sets in and lots of wild woodland blossoms and grass covers the ground thanks to sumshine reaching down! Nick is a master at his craft. 🤩
A Day at a time Daniel… too often we ( most people ) I’m guessing beat them selves up for not doing more in a day. But just think or remember how those who came so many years ago before us … you are recreating what was lost pretty much by yourself with help here and there from others. You are one person… you are moving through it all As fast and as best as you can Give yourself a break and pat yourself on the back And I’ll see ya tomorrow!
cant wait to see the progress of the Chateau , hopefully you will get some great help from Amaury and nick already doing his thing , that has made a huge difference already , you will have to keep a good stock pile of wood to warm the place once its all finished . so your nose doesn't get any redder lol .
Dear Dan, like you I wear Converse all year long BUT there comes a time when appropriate footwear is necessary ! Steel capped leather a bit like those that Billy Petherick wears would be a good idea !
But thick heavy shoes make it difficult to nimbly scramble up and over building sites like a little Billy goat 🐐 which is always an enjoyable watch and a Dan feature 🤷♀️😉
@@Sgirl If I wear Converse shoes today it is because many years ago a collegue dropped a heavy table on my foot and over time the joint has fused and become arthiritic ! I restored two houses like Dan with my partner and the number of hits and knocks and bruises, I cannot count and most of the bad ones I pay for today. Over a year ago I fell off a tall ladder onto hard stone (I'm 66) and ended up in the emergency room with all the ribs on one side broken, a badly bruised shoulder and pelvis and it took eight months to get almost back to normal so I'm still screwing up yet full of warnings for the young. Foot protection is really important so yes Dan should consider boots, they do make lightweight ones with steel caps !
Geez…I have been doing lots of back video watching while lots of snow falling this past week here in eastern Canada. Thank you for sharing your life journey with the daily vlogs!! I am literally binge watching.
That Nick is the Tree Master! I do have to admit, I love watching him work! My son cuts & cleans up after trees. But he doesn’t climb! Fascinating! GO NICK.
I’m happy to see the landscaping take place , the remaining trees will properly compliment the chateau and give glimpses and views not available before . As well , the less crowded trees will probably do better . What a lovely setting is being recreated for your fabulous dwelling .
Glad you got a chance to get back to YOUR Chateau. Nick really is opening things up. Soon you may find and clear the location for your cabin. It will make things so much easier for you, in more ways than one.
So fun to watch Nick just do his thing he’s in his element. My dad and grandpa used to do that so it brought back a lot of memories and I bet when you’re chipping, the aroma had to be intoxicating! Nothing better than nothing fresh cut wood smells so good. ❤. Great progress today! Sending love from California💜🤟🏻🤗🇺🇸
Dan, my man. Little by little the work gets done. The drive way will be much better now. The chateau will be visible from the road. See ya tomorrow. Take care and stay safe 🍺😇🙏❤️👍🕊🌈🌞🌹🎈🇺🇸
In honesty, I haven't watched this vid in full yet but I had a thought hit me at the very beginning when Dan was talking about how snowy and cold it is at his chateau. Dan, this is a wonderful opportunity to take a look around at the scenery during this time of year at your chateau because that is what you will be looking at once you get moved out onto chateau property. From the little bit I've seen, its really pretty there and the snow seems like it enhances the beauty!
Seems like a blessing to have Nick in your area. And what a difference a day makes...beginning to look like a proper driveway. We got 6 inches of snow here in Michigan USA today. Hope you don't get as much, but I'll find out when I see you... tomorrow ❄👀💙
Just a thought when I saw all the wood resources, look into making biochar. The process creates heat and energy you can harness and you would have biochar you can inoculate with compost tea to use and sell. Multiple income streams are needed for this project. Good luck Dan
@@Arazhul12 You have NO idea where his income is coming from. And there are times with kids you have to be happy getting a marshmallow or any kind of nugget into them. Just stop judging others and be a better person.
@@Arazhul12 he is working his socks off to provide a finished and safe house. If you notice, it's snowing. That's not the ideal time to be building. His kids are thriving. This Grandma is willing to be blunt here. Take your arrogant, judgemental attitude with you as you sling your hook.
So nice to find myself a little bedtime story every day. I found your channel through the chateau diaries, several months ago, and I'm glad to have found you. I've been through most of your vlogs meanwhile. This is the first time I'm following your daily vlogs, and I really like it. I think I like it not just because you are explaining what you are doing so well (although you do) but mostly because you are also very witty, which adds an extra dimension. Thank you for sharing all this.
Those are some giant pines. Without the proper equipment it would take you forever to clear this property. You are very fortunate to have Nick there helping to speed this along.
forecast for us in Ontario Canada snow for 2 days, it's already about 4" on the ground and the snowfall is almost white out, the roads are ok so far but I did slip a bit putting my vehicle back in my garage, if it keeps snowing at this rate we should have a foot of snow by tomorrow. Tonight will be filled with the sounds of grown men sliding around in their trucks. They absolutely turn into little boys with big toys when we get a fair amount of snow
It all looks like magic on those sped-up pictures, this work makes so much difference and looks so complete with these branches getting grinded right away and not making a pile of mess rotting away forever.
This was a really good episode Dan. I liked the music and the time-lapse with you and Nick working as a team clearing the driveway. Watched it twice I liked it that much 👍🌳 Thank you....c u tomoro x
