With the start of the holiday shopping season, the National Retail Federation estimates 68.7 million Americans will shop online this Cyber Monday. But what shoppers might not know is that the items they buy online could have been sitting on their local store shelves for a cheaper price. Michelle Miller met the bargain shoppers who buy products just to resell them online.

That Flippin Guy Nice try. Been doing this for 10+ years and increasing in sales year over year ever since. One thing I have never done is give my COMPETITORS a leg up to take food off of my family’s table. No business operating in any sector that I know of would do such a thing. But most resellers would rather impress their peers than put more money in their own pockets.

Jonathan Barnes It’s not the same at all... You’re taking products off of retail shelves and charging more for it, it’s actually illegal with a lot of products. A guy was recently banned from buying Krispy Kreme donuts because he was re-selling them 200 miles away. It becomes a risk for the larger legitimate business
@h_j_v

Jonathan Barnes In the case of house flipping there is actually value added, a creation of wealth. This is just buying low selling high, they aren’t altering the product or creating any wealth.
@seasonsremain

Hunter Voss Many houses are bought sold without ever touching them to add value. All I’m saying is at the core of this is good ‘ol capitalism. I understand if it’s illegal to buy retail to sell, but I think it’s pretty hypocritical as well since we have huge companies like eBay based on this very thing.
@seasonsremain
@seasonsremain 4 года назад
Lucus Assanti Which is highly hyprocitical considering Krispy Kreme sells in bulk for “fun-raising” as they call it. Illegal, yes. But theres nothing immoral about it to me. Krispy Kreme will gladly take a hundred grand from him, slap a sign on a building 200 miles away, then ship him donuts calling him a franchisee. He just figured out a cheaper way to do it so we call the man immoral? Not in my book.

I have been a reseller for over 15 years. When I started NO ONE would discuss this business. It was all a well guarded secret. It is the reason that I could sell almost anything for great money. RU-vid changed all of that. So many resellers started doing videos and telling their secrets. The market has become so saturated now that there is more money in selling the information about how to resell. Although that is also saturated now. No need to buy the info that is available for free. Everyone is a reseller now it seems. I continue to change and adapt because I love this business even though it is MUCH harder to earn a living now.

This is true. There is still some one-off potential here and there but nothing sustainable unless you have that elite supply line. Cheap stuff you still have to compete with Chinese sellers who can sell the product less than what it costs you to buy. Also, watch out for the massive amount of scammers getting you to watch their videos or whatever bogus bs just so they can get ad revenue off your viewership.

I've been selling on eBay and Amazon for about 4 years now and this is misleading to anyone who thinks they can do this because these guys got in the game early so they are ungated to sell these items on Amazon which is why they have so little competition and can talk about selling this stuff without worrying about flooding the market. Next company to “blame” will be Amazon, who will be the biggest retail that uses robots to fill orders not employees. It’s called change and historically that’s what happens like it or not. @DV-ou1yu 4 года назад
@@ano070602 the reason why "people have money to burn" is because your husband has forced their hand. The supply decreases, consumer believes product inventory more valuable (quick seller, "rare" item, etc) thus demand increases. You jump at the first suggested reseller price because you fear someone will buy it which is usually the case because their hand was forced as well. His profit is someone elses lost. I know this market as both a reseller and buyer. It's a competitive and fair trade, but also a messed up one. @guillermogutierrez-santana4446
@guillermogutierrez-santana4446 3 года назад
Did your weed seller buy directly from the farmer, or from a dispensary? In the scenario that your Weed Dealer purchased it directly from the farmer, he did good because he is doing the work of selling the product to the end-user, so that the farmer can focus on just creating the product on a macro level. In the scenario that your weed dealer just purchased your weed from another dealer, or from a dispensary, that is morally and economically wrong. He has added a cost to the weed without adding any value. You would be able to purchase the weed from his source at his cost if he didn't create an artificial shortage. You are not able to walk into a multi-million dollar weed greenhouse and ask to walk in to buy $10 worth of weed, they can not provide such small sums to you at an economical price, whereas retail is able to. Do you believe that people who buy medicine from manufactures at $0.10 per pill, then jack it up to $15 per pill for no reason other than to profit over their unfair advantage, who then sell it to the Pharmacy, who charge a fair 10% surcharge, is ok? There's nothing wrong with somebody who did no work to create a product, and who did no work to find the end-user themselves, deserves to make substantially more money than anyone else in the supply chain? No, this is not how a free market works. That is called price fixing, cartels, crony capitalism, and arbitrage.

I made it to the news, only for a few seconds haha but still pretty cool. Retail arbitrage is amazing and a lot of fun, and it's easy but it is time-consuming. If you have a typical job working 40 hours a week, it can be tough trying to get into RTA, you have to look for products, label them, package them up etc. It's easy to work, you are literally just putting products in a box and taking it to ups. I started RTA on amazon a few months ago. I bought my house and my cars cash, so I don't have any bills except for utilities and I am an affiliate marketer so my main businesses are on autopilot. So I pretty am free 7 days a week with nothing to do, RTA is a few extra $1,000 a month for a hobby not bad. This hobby makes me more than my old job a few years ago working 40 hours a week and it gets me out of the house. Thanks for having me in the story CBS
