I worked as a manager at a comics shop. This guy came in, giving our employees heck because of stuff he said damaged the books values. I was fairly certain that he'd put damaged books in there to try to scam us, but because he was being such a big jerk, I gave him his money back and even gave him the damaged books. Then I told him to get out of the store and never come back. Surprised pikachu face as he realized squeaky wheels can get replaced. I had a lot of customers in the shop so he very reluctantly left. To add to his humiliation, we had a shop cat and she waited until he barely made it through the door, walked over, and bumped it closed. He later called the owner to complain and the owner was like, you ticked her off? You deserved it. When the guy complained about my shop cat (really!!!) owner couldn't hold it in any longer and just started laughing. You know when you tick off the store cat you really screwed up.

I am an army vet. I take loyalty and protecting my “underlings” (company term for my employees) very seriously. I also am the offensive blunt type so when a customer came into my store and made my 17 year old Star employee cry I came out and physically threw the woman out of the building and banned her and her family from my location. Well my bosses didn’t like that but I am really good at my job and was one of 42 different locations who still made a profit during Covid so they give me a slap on the wrist and ordered me to fire that poor employee. Hell no. I quit and took all but 2 of my staff with me. Shut down a location that had Never been closed in over 20 years for almost a month. Cost that company close to over 3 million in just fines when I reported them. No idea how much product was lost and sales were lost.

I threw a guy out of Staples once. It was during the height of back to school. We were open an hour later. This print and marketing customer was on her way out the door, then realized something was wrong with her order. She went over there as the other associates were over by the main registers. Usually after closing the doors would be locked, but we hadn't locked them because we had been interrupted in doing so. This guy wandered in and was asking for us to help him get a laptop charging cable. He wouldn't listen to our manager who was telling him that the store was closed and he had to leave. I just grabbed him buy the elbow and gave him a polite walk out the door.

I’m a white guy and was in my mid 20s working at a gas station/convenience store in Idaho. It’s Thanksgiving and we’re all working about 3hrs that day so no one has to work a full shift. This includes management so it’s pretty cool. I’m in for my shift and a guy comes in. Store is packed. I’ve got another coworker on who’s black and the store is filled with people including several other black people. The guy comes up to my till to shoot the doo. He’s come in before and before this was one of the few customers I didn’t actively dread. I don’t even remember what else we were talking about. Probably something to do with his truck. What I do remember is him leaning in close and saying in a half whisper, “Hey man I gotta ask, how can you stand working around all these n*ggeRs”. My eyes go wide, blood rushes to my face, I take the cigarettes I had begun to ring up for him, and I tell him to get out and not come back. “But”, he says in what appears to be genuine shock. “No buts, get out and don’t come back”. He leaves and I never see him again, coworker has to go to the back office to collect themselves because they overheard what happens. One of the black shoppers brings up their things and buys a $10 gift card for the place. They leave it for me and tell me thank you. As long as you’re willing to learn there is a certain level of ignorance I can forgive. But if you’re really either confident enough in your bigotry or just stupid enough you may not even consider the consequences… We have nothing more to discuss. F*ck bigots in all forms they come in.

I work at a hardware store in the flooring department. I speak Spanish as a second language and have multiple times how to translate for my manager. On his request for customers that don’t speak English very well. I was standing there translating for a customer to my manager. A white customer noticed and commented “This is America. We speak English.” My manager said to the guy “America doesn’t have an official language, and furthermore, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the country. This is our company and we can conduct business however we want to. You can leave if it bothers you.”

Another Parts Counter story. I had a dude get lividly pissed at me for giving priority service to a Mazda customer and a Volvo customer before helping him with his Hyundai. I guess he didn't understand how lines work. Anyways he needed 12 clips for the door panel on a '00 Elantra. Had to be the gray ones!! NOT THE BLUE ONES!! (they're inside the panel. I can't control what color Hyundai makes non-visible plastic!!). I jumped through all kinds of hoops to get the damn gray ones from another dealer....and Korea. Next day air!! The shipping cost 5x the price of the clips. Next day the guy shows up to get his parts, and they're not here. The dude went ballistic. I refunded the shipping, and told him I had no idea when his parts would get there, because nobody was doing any deliveries until further notice. He then commenced berating me, my boss, my coworkers, some rando passing in the hall. I finally lost it. Got right in the guy's face, and pointed at the TV in the waiting room. "Are you fucking serious? Do you honestly have no idea what's going on? Have you looked at ANY TV, radio, piece of media at all today??? You ordered your parts next day AAAAAIIIIRRRRR. There's nothing in the AAAIIIRRRRR. For all I know your fucking clips are stuck on a cargo plane that got diverted to Bumfuck, Padukah, Kentucky!! I don't control the FAA!!! Jesus Christ, sir. Get the fuck out of here!" ... About 4 months later, a lady shows up and asks if some Hyundai clips ever arrived. I have no idea, but maybe I can resell these clips nobody ever picked up. I can order more for him. Lady looks at the old invoice, and says "Oh. That's my husband. That IS the order I'm talking about." Oh! That's convenient. Here you go. Have a nice day! She stops, and asks "Are you David?" Umm...Yeah? "Well, I have a bone to pick with you. My husband said you were very cross with him, and you need to be more considerate. The customer is always right, you know." At this point I have no idea what she's talking about, but "Oh. Well I'm sorry if I came across that way, but I have no memory of this." She continues to scold me for a bit, so I play along. I tear off our copy of the invoivce, and I look at it. Then I saw the big bold NEXT DAY AIR stamp next to the date. "Oh. I remember him, ma'am. And, respectfully to you, I don't apologize at all for being cross at him." She starts to harumph at me, but I tell her the story, and she's just beside herself. Apologizes to me, but still tries to drop "The customer is always right." on me. I say "Ma'am. I understand your concern, but your husband got irate, and insulted me and everyone in earshot, because his $3 clips that were so damned important he never picked them up didn't arrive Next Day AIR on September 11th. Ma'am. Your husband, the customer, was dead ass wrong."

When I was a cashier I had a lady who shopped for over an hour, complained about not be able to have enough money, even though she loaded up get cart and that she was hungry and diabetic and blah blah blah. She left but can't back and then made 3 separate purchases totaling more than the original amount for the 1/4 of the cart from earlier. The second time she came back, she did the same crap again. The third time, I am not ashamed to say that when I was about to come back from my break and saw her at the counter I waited until my manager was ringing her out before I came back up front so I wouldn't have to deal with her. Thankfully I haven't seen her since then.

I worked at a small toy store that has since closed down (thanks pandemic), and a Gen Xer blonde-haired mom was rushing through trying to buy toys for EVERY kid at a birthday party she was already late to, all the while her son (couldn't have been older than 3) was very clearly physically uncomfortable. I soon smelled that he had shit himself. All this while the mom was on her phone, giving whoever was on the other end a hard time, and completely neglecting her son's needs. I didn't kick her out, but as she left, I said "don't come back until you get your act together".

I'm a receptionist/front desk at a small office, not a retail worker (though, I've done my time) but I have had moments when I needed to tell people to get out. While I don't have a lot of customers, the doors are open for people to come in to purchase tickets, pick up prizes, come in for meetings, etc. The office small, so I am often alone, a middle age, overweight woman, with nothing but a half door to protect me. Before Covid, this guy came in and out of nowhere asked me to call his dad. Like... this guy was at least in his mid-late 60s and looked bedraggles, possibly homeless. If his dad was still alive, he had a stronger constitution than this guy. I had a strong suspicion that he was either high on something or had some form of dementia. Even if his dad was dying in a hospice somewhere, coming into a random office and demanding to use the phone with little to no explanation is not the way. Now, this office is a private business, I am not a public servant, and my phone is not for private use. I have been chastised before for being too tolerant and accommodating to the homeless population in the area before (we're in a downtown area of a small city). This is, unfortunately, a problem, as they will come in to use our bathrooms, plug in their phones and beg for money. I am a softie, so I have given people my own money, water bottles, office snacks, etc. It doesn't end though, after helping a woman out once, I had to refuse her again three times for her to stop coming in, she would literally start crying and screaming that she was dying of cancer... there is a hospital 6 blocks away. Back to this guy, I have never felt in danger with these people before, but this guy was... not making any sense. He shoved a piece of paper at me and told me to call his father. I, being a softie, gave it a try, but it was a 1-800 number, and surprise, surprise, it was not a functioning number. He was insisting I try again and was pulling out this plastic shopping bag with a bunch of papers in it, saying that "it's in here somewhere." Like he wanted me to try all of the various numbers he collected in that bag. I had to insist that I did not have time to call his father, that it was not my job, and that he needed to leave. It was at that point that he started getting upset and yelling, throwing his bag around. Fortunately, one of my male co-workers was there and came out screaming that the guy had to leave and that we would call the cops if he didn't. I didn't even know he was there, he's not a manager, but I'm glad he took it upon himself to do that, because the guy was scaring me. Epilogue: A year later the boss hired a guy to repaint our window sills (105 yo building), guess who he hired... The guy didn't seem to recognize me and acted pretty normal after that, but you better believe when it came time to paint the windows at my office, I found something else to do.

(I work at a retail store that sells electronics so keep that mind) Older guy comes up to me after I call out to take the next person and he sets down a can of pringles and a powerade. I ask him if that completed the order and he also wanted his cell phone replaced. Before I could tell him that he was in the wrong line, he started to berate me by calling me an idiot and telling me I don't know how to do my job. For the first time in my life I stood up for myself and told him that he was rude and that he was disrespectful. Hell, I even got to walk away and refuse service! It was nice.

I've been working at a Wendy's a few months now and one of my coworkers just became a manager. When I first started working there, she told me the story of how she once told a rude customer in drive thru that she hoped he'd choke on every fuckin bean in his chili, closed the window, and proceeded to let the GM at the time know exactly what happened before going outside to smoke when this man came in to complain. The kicker? The owner at the time had a talk with her and asked if she regretted her actions, to which she replied "No, sir, and I'd say it again!" We all know exactly which manager to call for when dealing with rude customers.

I worked the Parts counter at a Volvo shop. Had this guy come in looking for a hard to find part on a 1978 240...yeah, Volvo does still stock parts, but I have to look this stuff up on microfilm. It was taking me a long time, and the guy's description of what he was looking for was pretty vague, so every time I'd find something that might be it he'd get mad and yell at me for being so stupid, and he's stomping and slamming his meat hands on the counter. Meat hands. This dude was at least 450lb of greasy angry asshole looking for carburetor tubes. I finally went out to look at his car, and point at the thing (which I had found almost immediately when he asked the first time ffs), and got it on order. Backordered, because of course this guy needed to be mad some more. Next customer is a local news lady with a 960 looking for some touch up paint. We go out to her car to grab a color code, and as I'm talking to her the quarter ton of angerburger tried to run me over with his car. He clipped me with the side mirror, breaking it off to dangle, and he gets out to yell and scream at me for stepping out in front of him. Tried to make me pay for his mirror. Then he recognized the news lady, decided he didn't want to be famous, and drove off with the most aggressive burnout that a 240 can muster. He was kicked out the next week after picking up his parts, and beating his mom in the waiting room.

Unfortunately he wasn’t kicked out, but I had one customer come into our DG store 10 minutes to close, we told him about us closing soon and when he gets to the counter immediately starts cussing me out as I’m scanning his stuff, but I’m tuning him out trying to scan all his stuff, I overhear “so now you’re not gonna talk you don’t have anything to say?” And was genuinely wondering what he was going on about, then he goes on about how he “knows how to tell the f***ing time and doesn’t need me to rush him telling him when we close,” I hand him his stuff and ask him (very politely) if he wants his receipt, and I get a prompt “I don’t need sh*t from you punk” and walks out of the store. I literally just said two things in that entire interaction If he really knew how to “tell the f***ing time, I don’t think he would have came in ten minutes before we close

Used to work at a family dollar as an assistant manager and this customer came in saying "bet yall never had any criminals in here huh?" And me and my cashier looked at eachother lile wtf? He walked around and got this soda and said "how much is this mofo?" And i told him to bring it to me so i can do a price check and he said "I thought you'd already know off the top of yo head, ya know? Do your job" and kept murmuring insults so i looked at him and said "if you cant behave yourself, you cant be in here" He quiets down and just when I was gonna scan the soda He says "b*tch a**" under his breath so i put the soda to the side and tell him to get out, he looks at me dumbfounded and says "BuT iM a FelOn" so I responded "I dont give a sh*t, get out"

Retail is the worst. Worked for WalMart for a year. Worst job I have ever had. They used regular employees, usually young women, to work the return counter. These employees had to follow store policy, no exceptions. The only one who can by pass the rules was a store manager. These women had to endure tons of verbal and emotional abuse daily as they had to deny return after return then comes the manager and just give these abusive people what they wanted. We took back a mud cover, heavily used bike not sold at the store for 10 years and items from other department stores, 1 of which had long been out of business for years. Worst work environment ever.

Hey everyone, I have a funny story from my time managing a comics shop. So, this one guy came in, raising all kinds of fuss with our employees about how some books were damaged and how it ruined their value. I was pretty sure he was trying to scam us by putting damaged books in there himself. But since he was being such a jerk, I decided to give him his money back and even let him keep the damaged books. Then, I told him to leave and never come back. You should’ve seen his face! He looked so shocked, like one of those surprised Pikachu memes. The shop was busy, so he had no choice but to leave, looking all embarrassed. To top it off, our shop cat waited until he was just outside the door and then bumped it closed behind him. It was the perfect ending to his little tantrum!

honestly I don’t know why that woman is complaining if my total came out to $4.33 for an entire meal I would’ve asked them to repeat the total out of pure disbelief, then I would’ve been Skippy happy because a meal from a chain fast food place on Grubhub is $14 to $20 that’s on top of everything else that they pile on as “stupid fees” because their assholes and they can

Yes all those stores including places like Walmart all have we have the right to refuse service, its a law that has not changed or been overturned, the dems just told cities and states that if they used it on particular groups of people they would loose money and license, but now has the laws are still in effect find that sign in your stores and make it your mantra, going to the store should not be like going through cartel country , somuse your legal power
