In 2022, It was just KKR who needed a captain as RCB & Virat wanted Faf as captain. PBKS and SRH had retained Mayank & Williamson. Thats why KKR got Shreyas for 12.25 crores as GT & DC backed out Now with LSG, PBKS, KKR & maybe DC (if Pant is released) needing a captain, Shreyas will surely get more than 14 crores with just KL & Kishan being big Indian players the market, both not known to be good captains Edit: Now that Pant has been released, Shreyas Iyer market value drops significantly. . .
If an overseas player is good enough to make into the side 100% and is a good leader then why not go for him as a captain rather than just going all out for an Indian player who you think can be a captaincy option? KL, Ishan, Pant and Shreyas will all come into the auction. Pant being a middle order batter capable of playing more aggressively, plus brand value and how everyone rate him will be most of the franchise's first choice ahead of Shreyas. Teams won't go all out just because he won the IPL.
@@RVarshitha Even I don't rate Pant as much as all people rate. But the truth is everyone rates him a lot more than any of the other wicket keeper batters in the country. This is what matters the most. Shreyas is visualized more as an anchor and a good hitter against spin whereas Pant is seen more as a 4/5/6 kind of batter. I don't even rate Pant as a finisher either but many commentators and even cricketers within side rate him highly and is seen as capable of batting 3-6. In the case of Iyer, it is just 3 or 4. Both captains, both middle order batter but Pant sneaks past Iyer as a batter and wicket keeper.

SRH getting Head and Nitish for 14 & 6 crores is a steal especially after they had spent 55 crores on Klaasen, Cummins & Abhishek Along with MI, SRH too have retained their core for 75 crores
@@sorulodu Team can use max of 75 crores for 5 retentions. SRH gave Klassen extra 5cr for his importance and managed to convince Nitish for 6 cr, else Nitish could have backed out from team if he wasn't comfortable.
@@rogerIndianKing Yes they certainly did but not because he's Indian, they would have done it with any foreign player too in order to give them extra money outside of purse, personally if they wanted specific player at any cost.
Feels like deja vu for delhi fans, in 2011 DD left GG , he went to KKR and won the title, in 2021, they left Shreyas who did the same. In 2014, they let go of Sehwag as well, and had the worst season by any ipl team (only 2 wins), are we gonna see something like that with pant leaving.
If I am in-charge of RCB and Kohli said he wants to captain. I will buy Kishan as wicketkeeper, opening partner and vice-captain to Kohli. Unlike Pant and Rahul he doesn't need captaincy immediately and can be slightly less expensive. They can save some money to get a stronger middle order and better bowling attack.
