Good video I’m on 2nd early model of tyt md9600. I like it but early models had issues. Fw fixed most. Only one I can think of left is sometimes zones claim to be empty when changing Bright white background was solved with green plastic film Some mod the diodes for colors

Hi, GREAT review! - What kind of external speaker can be used? Didn't know that 3.5mm socket on the rear was for external speaker! - How exactly to enable Promiscuos mode to listen any call regardless Contacts, CC and Slot? I did read that using Monitor it can achieve it. Thanks!!

Very nice review! Question: is the "emergency" button re-programmable?? If not, it should be! What a waste of a button! The manufacturer should allow it to be made into a user programmable button. 73

Another great review Lewis! The radio looks very good and has a great feature set. However.....way too expensive. Could get two used Motorola DM series mobiles for the same money. No remote head option which means installation in a modern car is difficult. Should be standard for a radio in this price range. And since my HD-1 has developed a fault whereby it will not power on when stored for a period with battery attached. Remove and reseat the battery and it comes to life. Thought the battery was dead initially. And they don't seem to be releasing firmware updates for the HD-1 anymore. Not too trusting of Retevis products now. It would be better if Retevis improved current products instead of continually releasing new models every few months.

Hi, great review! Do you know any software or way to adjust/tune the Tx output power of RT90? Because after checking mine with many Power & SWR Meters I found that the radio output Tx is below Specs. At some levels is half the power it should be. If you have the software or know the way to adjust that, I'd REALLY appreciate your help! Thank you very much

Any recommendations for a good antenna for shack use? Also any recommendations for a power supply unit?

1. Is the control head removable? 2. Are you still happy with the radio? Have you had any problems?

Hi, thanks for this overview. Do you know if you can set it up to NOT be able to change the settings from the front end - only from the software to stop bored fingers on a night shift? 🤔

Identical to the TYT MD-9600. Is Retevis and TYT the same company I wonder? I'll be looking for your next video on it.

Nice video. Could you explain what exactly Talkaround is? I have this on my RT84, but I have no idea what it does. 73, Frankie.
@DuaneVT
@DuaneVT 2 года назад
Talkaround on an analog radio shifts the transmit frequency from the repeater offset to simplex on the repeater output. It was used to work around a downed repeater or if you were out of range of the repeater and needed to talk to a nearby radio. Practically, it was annoying for a ham who was part of a multi-station conversation on a repeater to go talkaround because HE could hear the repeater perfectly. Everyone else was full-quieting on the repeater except that guy who was noisy or not there to outlying stations. So..normal was transmit 146.34, receive 146.94. In talkaround, the mobile was shifted to 146.94 on both transmit and receive.

I see sooo many reviews on this radio and still no one can answer my question! Ive held off one because im looking for a radio that is dual mode fm/digital,dual band and can work in a frequency mode? Can you upload a demo of it in Frequency mode or whatever is closest to VFO mode? Can you input frequencies and scan? Or do you need to programme the frequencies in as channels? Cheers Ryan (M6GZB)
@RingwayManchester
@RingwayManchester 4 года назад
Hi Ryan you can do all of the above, I won’t be uploading a demo but it has a scannable bro which allows frequency input from the mic

That's a mint 2 Way CB our kid! A lot of ice cream vans use them when out and about. Hytera make a better CB. Can it listen to dibble freqs? I reckon you can do a dibble mod to it if you open it and add a dibble board.. Or use a dibble SDR USB.

@@73dem6vmo7 do you know the answer? Do you use this radio?
@73dem6vmo7
@73dem6vmo7 4 года назад
@@bentopham9324 Yes, I do, Ben. The radio has 4 power levels, 10, 15, 25 and 50 Watts, you find the options in the settings. I wish Retevis would have been a bit clearer in their explanations. 73.

Hi Ringway how do i switch the radio to ANALOG mode?
@DuaneVT
@DuaneVT 2 года назад
It would be analog by not programming the channel as DMR. Since most operation is by repeater or pseudo-repeater hotspot, why would you want to switch from DMR to analog on a DMR frequency pair channel?

BUT! Does it have a VFO mode? That is the major reason why I went for the Ailunce HD1 handheld
