“You’re building a Bible into your soul.” That’s powerful.

I love this dear Godly man who has such a humble way in explaining the Word of God. He just has so much knowledge inside of him that he can teach with seldom looking at notes. Such a blessing to the family of God.

When I was a teenager, the pastor and his wife who discipled us (youths) simply taught us to ask these 3 questions. They have basically revolutionised our lives maybe without realising it. 1. What does it (actually) say? 2. What did it mean (when it was written)? Examine context, phrases, individual words & compare, intra-Scripture. 3. Finally, what does it mean for me? Apart from this 3Q structure, the second thing most helpful thing was Paul Washer’s 3 tips: treat the holy Bible as if yr life depended on it, it does! Be mesmerised by GW, when looking for Jesus: where is He, here? Why is this detail here? Thirdly, let’s study GW to have the mind engaged with great thoughts of God [such that the heart be inflamed by the love of God, the body animated to serve God, the lips consecrated in praise to Him]; in short, that we might become (more) like Jesus.

I personally do this method I found on ligonier. I have 10 bookmarks with ten groups of books, and I read a chapter from each book mark each day. Methodically working my way through book by book in each section. Really great way to study in my opinion.

I want to know what God's word meant when God wrote it. GOD DIDN'T WRITE A MEN CENTERED BIBLE.

I think we should read in both ways. none should neglect the other. First, the Bible is for the needy and poor and wounded souls who are hurt in this world. And when they read the Bible, they often don’t have a strength to read with reasoning but just read and the Spirit must come to help them and console them by his very words through the scripture.
