Living in La Fortuna Costa Rica for 16 years now, you meet a lot of people. We met Johnny a few years back when he reached out to us. I was skeptical at the time but he is our go-to when it comes to anything medical/dental tourism. We've interviewed many clients he has helped... he is the real deal. But this is not a medical/dental tourism video. This is about a retirement community (assisted living), although families will have a space as well.. This is BIG, this is HUGE, Johnny has had this vision since 2007. Now the stars have aligned and it looks like this project is a GO- 240 homes on like 110 hectare (1 hectare is 2.47 acres). This is going to be an almost all inclusive community. Organic farming, grass fed cows, chickens, vegetables, stores and also hotsprings in the community so the grand kids have something to do and much more. This is the first video of many so you can keep updated on the process and time frame. This community is about a 9 minute drive to La Fortuna central and about 20 minutes from Lake Arenal and it's in the shadow of the Arenal Volcano (good shot of this in the video). This is obviously a big project but it is going and we're pretty excited. Obviously much more info coming as it changes as I'm sure there will be many questions.... which we will try to answer as this community progresses. I am not trying to sell you anything I just believe this is an interesting and needed project and it is geared to gringos without the 'gringo pricing'... but remember, Costa Rica isn't for everyone but this project might appeal to some of you.

I want to be VERY CLEAR. I am not trying to sell you shit. Costa Rica is NOT for everyone. It has its advantages and disadvantages like every country. Like someone said in the comments, 'DUE DILIGENCE' is key. I think it's an interesting project..... vamos a ver. **Also, our apologies for the quality of this video when seen on a 'bigger' screen. We accidentally had it on the wrong settings. ugh.

I have been very impressed with all your videos and learned so much since the first one I found Mike. But this one takes the cake. Wow!!! I've been working towards making my move down there for a while now, with plans of hooking up with Johnny for medical issues (no big deals), and your for other business. And now I find out that I'm bringing down with me a truckload of very valuable skills, knowledge, and experience that I'm sure will interest Johnny. I just took an early retirement at 62, but did NOT retire. I've done everything from cowboying (genuine cowboy work) to equipment operation. Framing, finish carpenter, countertop fabrication, electrical, plumbing, roofing, concrete....I could go on. I took early retirement, but didn't retire. Congrats to Johnny. It's a fabulous plan for all the right reasons. I hope to be down there by next year's beginning. I'll be seeing ya'll later. Peace. Choperz...out.

Congratulations to all who helped Johnny with his plans to build this awesome community!! I think it will be a huge success! His forward-thinking in having every home handicap accessible it's great! In America the average price of a retirement home in a community is anywhere from 8 to $12,000 per month and the care is awful! It is also a proven fact that older people that have younger children around them have a better and happier life. So having a community nearby with families is an excellent idea! Bravo

I have long thought that something like this would be a fantastic idea, and have wondered why it hasn't been done in more places around Costa Rica! That said, where could be better than in La Fortuna. I am kind of partial to the Osa Peninsula, but I could easily see myself spending my later years around La Fortuna.
@jay27064
@jay27064 2 года назад
Its mostly a question of medical care. The nearest hospital now to La Fortuna is Ciudad Quesada where you are more likely to get and die from an oportinistic infection than recover from an extended hospital stay. This why jmhe has to build the hospital. The hospital in Golfito in the Osa area is even worse.

It sounds like a development of single family houses. Where does the concept of “assisted living“ come in? When I think of assisted living, a large building with individual apartments and a communal dining room come to mind. This sounds like a 55+ community. In order to govern the commons, you will need an HOA, which means neighbors at each other’s throat‘s. And I can’t imagine a community of 240 homes economically viable to support a hospital. And where is this exactly located? In the middle of nowhere? Do your due diligence potential investors!
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW 2 года назад
Well, not in the middle of nowhere about 9 minutes from La Fortuna central. The community doesn't need to support the hospital,, it will just be nice that it's there, close. Of course do you due diligence, it's why I made this video,,,, you can see the progress and we'll be answering questions as they arise and we have solid answers. Costa Rica is NOT for everyone. Do diligence is a MUST.

@@Sovereignspeed76 Plant based protein if they want to avoid disease. Impossible to digest animal protein100%. We are not designed to live in sickness, but one common denominator everyone eats is animal protein. We only eat to fuel the body and obviously with all the suffering and death from heart & stroke, common cancers and so many other degenerate diseases, the diet of the masses is WRONG. Quite obvious really. Funny how the health industry can't cure anything but diet WILL PREVENT and REVERSE! Just trying to help anyone trying to evolve with their health. The last thing they need is fast food diets!! It sadly baffles me how people are programmed to accept sickness as a normal life, instead of questioning why they are sick. Peace!

A balanced diet is the way to go. Humans were not meant to be vegetarians. We are scavengers and omnivores. We weren't meant to eat that much meat either and certainly not breaded and fried. Most vegans I know are very unhealthy, either morbidly obese or sickly thin.
@MG-lw8pq
@MG-lw8pq 2 года назад
The morbidly obese are the masses which eat animal protein. Lol, Those are not Plant based diets filling the hospitals and on pharmaceuticals for life. Heart and Stroke is number 1 killer, cancers and so many Autoimmune Deficiencies people are all suffering. Common denominator is animal protein at every meal, obviouslythe wrong fuel for the body???? I switched at 40 and cured my Colitis with no more need for their toxic meds from the Sick Industry! Food is FUEL, and would love to hear all these supposed Vegans you know all sick? Nonsense, but the stats do not lie as we are not designed to live in sickness but everyone is led to believe that is normal!! Evolution works very slow for most and sadly on the animal diet at every meal (duh, common denominator obviously) suffering and death from animal diet will continue!

There probably is a lot of cheaper areas to live in CR, but you would be in the middle of nowhere and very few creature comforts. I think in the long run CR might be expensive in the touristy areas but further out, is not as bad. Remember that you don't need as much stuff to live in this country, if you are retired. Once you are settled in and buy local products, it is cheaper than you think.

Amazing Country! Too small for everyone flocking here I think. We come for the nature and animals. Sad to see all the rain forests being chopped down, and so many large residential areas popping up. A few points, this is not rain forest, it is farmland. I am sure when they start building, they will be leaving habitat for monkeys and animals native to the area. Costa Rica is really strict on what you can and can't remove as far as trees and nature. You can't just strip the land and start building! If this is Johnny's family land, I am sure he has the responsibility to the family to keep it as natural as possible.
